Disc Golf Thievery

This is some thing I have always thought about. Why is theft so prevalent in the Disc Golf community???
I cant count the number of baskets that I have heard about being stolen or seen missing over the past 10+ yrs of playing. I personally have had my disc stolen after throwing it on a hole, and even chased away a would be disc thief on a hole known for making discs disappear.

I hear stories of vehicles being broken into, bags being taken, tourney money disappearing. Why does this seem to be such an issue in disc golf?

I dont get the logic of some body that would steal the basket from a course that they, and all their buddies play at, or steal your disc just because you cant see the landing zone, or steal the stereo or bag out of your car in the parking lot.

What can we do to weed out some of these bad apples????

Im tired of reading about stolen baskets, discs, bags, etc.... or throwing on a hole just to discover the basket is gone.

yeah i agree, its the curse of civilization, the have and the have nots. they are not smart enough to steal from the rich so they take the easy target. we are an easy target, we're out in the woods usually not to many at a time and the baskets sit there ungaurded for long periods with noone around, etc....

You could have a point there. I just dont get the logic of disc golfers stealing from disc golfers. Kind of a dont sh!t where you eat type thing.

How about thumbs! Then they couldn't hold the disc or spin tops!

Didn't Michael Fay get 6 lashes or so for theft and vandalism in Singapore?
