Course Conditions

The point of the course conditions is for them to be current, not a week in the past. Is the course still flooded from yesterday's torrents? Has the grass been recently mowed or is it still knee high? Maybe a storm went through last night and some trees are down... After a week or so, stuff like this has probably changed.

Last week is still better than nothing. Especially if it is something more major than weather or minor maintenance.

Just include "Date Played: mm/dd/yy" in the update.

I always add the date I played it just to give a reference. I think after a month they take them out.

It's a legit resurrection, I already updated two courses just today.

Agreed. I just updated 4 of my local courses today. Definitely a great feature that needs to be used more. And it only takes a minute to do.

I normally update every course I play the next day

I typically update unless there is one from the last two weeks that is accurate. Sometimes I forget

Ha, I know that feeling. :(

Had to mark TWO courses as closed on my last road trip.

I try to do this... sometimes I forget... but it definitely would be nice if I had an idea of what to expect when I go to one of my courses... not enough nutmeggers updating the CT courses...

then again... I may need to branch out a bit... I'm a local creature of habit...

After being stung by 5 hornets from a nest IN a basket on one of my local courses, I came here to update the conditions... Someone had already listed the nest. Wish I would have checked before playing.

rather see this feature disabled....it just causes misinformation

Yeah, that would have really sucked if I knew a course was closed before I drove an hour out of the way. :\

I disagree with this. I know especially here in Cincinnati area our courses are usually well updated and give good info. I'd say as I travel around, I often get good info.

Agree. I got into the habit when I noted 'Preacher' updating two or three courses a day (here in the Cincy area). Doesn't take much to note when a course is drenched with mud or a tree came down. And I think if everyone updates habitually, the info never gets more than a few days old.

^ this. Like just about everything else on DGCR, this feature is only as good as we make it. I don't see the point in disabling it. If you think it's worthless, simply don't read the course conditions.

I tend to read them, and depending on what the comments are, you can usually evaluate if they are likley to still be valid. I'm pretty good (but not fanatical) about updating them for the courses I play.

Agreed. :hfive:

I try and do my part to update almost every course I play the following day. They are also time stamped so it is pretty simple to figure out how relevant the info posted is going to be. 3 days later, probably good, 3 weeks later, probably not. So far it has been right more often than not.
