How long of drive for you to play?

Aumiller is a fun course. Front nine is very wooded and technical. Back nine opens up and lengthens out. Water comes into play on three holes on the back. Some great elevation changes. Well worth the drive for me.

We are in the planning process of building a course at our church over here in Ontario. Got couple guys from MOODgolf doing the course layout. Should be pretty sweet!

I will check Aumiller out.

New one going to be open to the public? If so, I am there!

Rankin Lake is about 5 minutes from either work or home. All of the Charlotte courses are 30 - 45 minutes away. Glenn C. Hilton in Hickory is about a 45 minute drive. Winthrop is about 45 minutes the other way.

Oh yeah - that is the whole reason we are building it! We have over 20 acres that gets largely unused. Swing by and check out the property some time. 1029 Lewis Road - Google places us wrong, but mapquest puts it right.
Gonna be a lot in and out of the trees.

At school:
Victor Ashe Park ~ 10min
Morning Side Park ~ 5min
Farragut (sp) ~ 20-25min (I haven't played it yet but that is what I believe it would be)

At home:
Steele Creek ~ 20min
Winged Deer ~ 30min

Top 5:

Chestnut Ridge -- 15 minutes, 5 from work.

Emery Park -- 15 minutes, my "home course".

Como Lake Park -- 20 minutes

Beaver Island -- 25 minutes

Chili/Baker Farm -- Around an hour.

All of those are excellent courses. Also Joseph Davis, Evangola, and Wilson are in the area, as Simpletwist mentioned. The only one I wouldn't normally go to (other than for league) is Wilson, as I could be most of the way to Chili in the same amount of drive time.

I have driven upwards of an hour and a half to get to courses. Those are my Saturday trips.

5 minutes to Vastwood Park (my course).
15 minutes to Yellow Creek Park.

1hr, a little more or less, gets me to many courses: Holler in the Hills, Patoka Lake, Old English, Charlie Vettiner, Mesker Park, Lover's Lane, Keirakes, Madisonville City, and many more here in WKY.

We've had this thread before, only the questions were "how many courses in your hometown" or "how many courses within X miles." I think a more appropriate question for this thread should be, how far would you drive to play a course?

That thread's been done, too.

Of course, if we limited discussions to original subjects, we'd all have a lot more time to practice our putting.....

-Chavez Ridge (right next to Dodger stadium) 7 miles away
-Oak Grove in Pasadena (first permanent course ever) 17 miles away

I can get to both of those in 25 minutes (LA Traffic )

-Veterans Park in Sylmar (were they filmed Fundamentals v1) 20 miles away
-La Mirada Park about 25 miles away

I'm about to close a house and I will be 3 minutes from star-jaycee in royal oak, mi. 15 minutes from firefighters in troy, mi. Probably around 30-40 minutes to stoney creek in shelby and cass benton in northville

Right now its a 12 mile drive. In 2 weeks I'll be living in a town with a course within city limits but its not that great. So I will be driving a little over an hour to play a challenging course.

Well with idlewild about 2-3 minutes from the house i don't have to go very far. Lincoln ridge is a 15 minute drive. In the greater cincinnati area there are 20 some courses all of which would be no longer than probably a 45 minute drive , most less, and maybe an hour to ones further up north in ohio. Here is a map of all the courses Not all of them the greatest but alot of them are good. I have only played three so i got alot of disc golfn' to do.

I live about 10 minutes from Pease Park and about 12 minutes from Circle C, both of which are rated at 4 and happen to be my two favorite courses.

Bluemont (9 holes) is the only park I can realistically get to on a weekday after work. It's ~25 minutes, traffic or no traffic.

Everything else is virtually impossible because of traffic... on a weekend, Giles is 30 minutes (only playable 6 months out of the year b/c of ticks), Seneca is 45 minutes. Lots of other good courses, but everything else that's decent is more than an hour out. In the 60-90 minute weekend driving window, I've got Loriella, Grange, Hawk Hollow, Rockburn, Patapsco.

The 2:00 - 2:15 drive window opens up a lot more course options, but makes for a long day: Druid Hill, Codorus, Whispering Falls, Quaker's Challenge, Walnut Creek, Iron Hill, Bryan Park...

My home course is River Grove in Kingwood, TX . Its only 10 miles away (20 minutes with lights and traffic) but its also one of the most techinal courses in the area, so it gets old after a while.

The next closets is Northside Christitan Church, a pretty challenging 9-hole that is 20 miles away

Then its Mac Gregor Park at 23 miles

Then its a tie between TC Jester park and Bear Branch, and Spring Valley. Each one is about 24 miles away.

My wife's favorite course is Mc Dade Park in Conroe, TX. Its 40 miles away.

My two favorite courses are:

9-hole - Miramar Park in Sea Brook, TX. Its 50 miles away, but its only 10 miles past my brother in laws house, so when we go visit him and the family, I bring the discs.

Jack Brooks #1 the Gulf Meadows course. Its 60 miles one way, but , they now have two courses in the park so you get a full day of disc golf for burning all that gas.

Also Jack Brooks #2 Cedar Hills is a monster, and right now considered the hardest course in the Houston area, so once you play it, you are beaten down and ready to go home.
