I did a search and found nothing to recent on this topic. There are a number of newer discs that fit the bill for this so thought it might make for a good conversation.

I am about a year in to disc golf and have been playing tourneys and such. I have an ultimate background and as a result favor sidearm/forehand upshots(not exclusively though). I find that I can get through gaps in trees very effectively and have quite a bit of touch as well. I am currently throwing Axiom Envy's in that slot and love them. I have heard some other discs are great at this as well, examples like the Harp, and Suspect. Any people throw this shot as much as I do and worked with some of these discs? Would love to hear your input.

I find the Envy to be stable enough and good out to 200 feet, if I Anny it, it usually won't come out but slowly float down to the ground which can be great on possible roll away situations

Zone or Harp if your are looking for something more OS, but the soft envy is what I use for most of my FH approaches. Occasionally if I need more fade or there is a strong headwind, I will use my buzzOS.

My favorite FH upshot disc is a BioFuzion Suspect. The shallow rim gives me no release issues on powered down shots, it's easy for me to gauge distance with and I can throw it on many different lines.

For my straighter shots that I just want to slide up to the basket I use a Lucid Truth.

Even though, it's technically a driver, I love my Firebird for any up shot over 150ft. Especially if a skip is desired. I like the Buzzz OS idea too.

I mainly forehand all my shots over 200', but when I get to approach distance I'd always switch over to backhand. A friend let me borrow a biofusion suspect and it worked out well for forehand approaches. It's the first mid that holds up well to my flicks. I'm now throwing a lucid suspect that is holding up well to the task. It's just OS enough to fly like it should without requiring a ton of Anny.

Zone for super OS that won't flip, and will fight out of anny's.

If you wanted something just a bit straighter than your envy try an S-line P2 from Dismania, it's got a deeper rim so it might fit better with your ultimate backround, and it will go straight with a good flick, and give you decent reliable fade at the end.

The only disc i use for forehand upshots is a firebird, ultra reliable and at the right angle they just stick like glue.

I guess it depends on what we're calling an "upshot" here... to me, it means a shot at the basket, meant to go in or be parked close.

To that end, within 100 ft. I find that the DX Colt is a great forehand disc. It does not take much effort (just get that spin going with a wrist flip) and the Colt flies straight and true. I use it in this manner to get out of jail from behind trees all the time.

If you're talking longer shots, then the Teebird, then the FL or Firebird (and their equivalents in other brands) should do well for forehand flicks.

^^^^^Yep, yep, and yep. Colt also forehands nicely for straight / anny approaches.

If I know I need a meat hook, it's a beefy Gator. If I need a little more glide/strait and possibly skip, I like my star TeeBird.

TBird sold me on the Zone. He gets free foot rubs for life because it is that good.
 Remind me not to recommend any discs to you...:D

Seriously though, Zone, fresh Envy and well beat in Envy are my putters at the moment, and they complement each other beautifully. Both are sneaky long, both can be thrown forehand and backhand equally well etc... The Zone has definitely carved out a unique niche though. Even my fresh Envy finishes pretty straight for me unless I power it down. The Zone will finish to the OS side every time, and because of that is a very nice complimentary tool. As others have said, get one and don't look back.

I use a Zone - Ringer combo. Been using it for several years and I see no reason to switch.
