[Mids] Stable (straight) mid to complement my Roc cycle?

I cycle Rancho Rocs. I currently carry a Champion USDGC Roc ("08 Thrower") & three KC Rocs. I also frequently bag a beaded Champion Gator, depending on the course. Living in Wisconsin, I find myself in the woods quite frequently. There's quite a few instances where I find myself powering down a fairway driver (when I'd much rather throw a mid) because my Rocs need too much height to work. I want a stable (straight) mid in premium plastic to fill this roll. I want to be able to get similar distance to my Rocs but on much lower lines. I want the disc to be stable so I can make it finish left, straight or right (depending on what the hole calls for). I assume the mold that fills this roll will have to be a "faster" than the Roc. I prefer Champion type plastics over Star, but that isn't a huge deal. Suggestions? Any other Roc throwers have this issue?

The Kaxe & KaxeZ are amazing "tweeners"
The Kaxe is OS while the KaxeZ is capable of superior line shaping.

The Ozone Discs Andro1 is also fantastic but they have pulled them off the shelves to rework the technology.

I was all set to say Comet until you started the ceiling talk.

I know you want a mid, but have you looked at the Axiom Proxy at all? Super stable at any power and no fade to speak of unless you force it. I recently benched mine because it was taking shots away from my Rocs, and I love throwing Rocs too much to find a faster mid setup.

I would have to say give the Kaxe or Kaxe Z a shot. The Z has a bit less fade and a hair more turn, so you should be able to work a few more lines with it out of the box. It is a smaller diameter so you can get some more spin on it to push it out there. I tried it, but wasn't a fan because of the feel. The roc throwers I know who tried it loved the feel. (I prefer shallow mids).

You could also try the Andro, but it feels more like a fairway than a mid to me, and as Jamie mentioned they were pulled off for reworking.

Another disc you could try and stay within the Innova family is the Gremlin. Somewhat of the same idea as the Kaxe. I have thrown it and had the same problem I did with the Kaxe, again roc throwing people I knew liked the feel.

I am starting to really like the VCobra for exactly what you're talking about. The VCobra is a very workable disc. Throw it straight, and it goes really straight with a bit of fade dump at the end. I throw mine with anny and I get an anny finish. Throw it higher with (a very wee bit of) anny, and it'll S-Curve. Throw it straight, and you get straight. One can also power down on it and still get similar lines. The VCobra has been called a "longer Colt", and while it's not a perfect analogy, it's ballpark...

The MVP Axis is a very straight-flying disc, as well. My only issue with it is that one has to throw it with *snap*, if not some power, to get its full potential out of it, so it's not a great power-down disc.

I find the Mako3 to be a bit understable, especially over time, but if you work with it it'll give you a very straight flight.

The Colt is a great, laser-straight disc (in the proto versions and Star), but is an Approach disc and not as long as the VCobra. The Lat 64 Pure is a very straight putter, but again is not as long as the VCobra. And you can add the Proxy to good straight discs at this level.

You might like a max weight Pinnacle Gauge. Could fit the bill, although it won't feel exactly like a Roc in the hand.

Initial reaction - Ti or Z Comet. It is what I'd use.

But how far are you trying to throw and how low is this ceiling? On long low tunnels I'll throw a QJLS. Speed 6 rim but will glide out for days (which is why people call it a speed 7-8). From a standstill, I throw them like mids all the time.

Tangent. Seasoned tangents are the closest thing I've found to faster Comets.

I was going to suggest a tangent as well. It seems to have alot of forward penetration, so you can get some nice lower then usual (for a mid) lines.

Historically, a z Buzzz has been the choice here.

Edit:
Also, I have been in the exact same boat as you for years, and I always had a buzzz handy in case of ceiling or rocky areas. Now I use a roc3.

I don't think a Comet will deal with ceiling issues any better than a Roc, even if it is a pretty amazing disc.

I first thought about a Gazelle, but the lack of regular production in premium plastic probably won't work for you. I think a Champ Leopard would be a good choice, in my experience they are very neutral and fly mid-like smooth lines without much turn or fade.

Edit: A Buzzz is a good suggestion as well!

Personally I feel like the Axis is superior to the Tangent on the lower lines, if we're talking mvp options.

-Z Buzzz....its faster than a Roc, and flies very straight, 175+
-Westside Warship - faster straight mid-style disc
-Dynamic Disc Verdict/Truth. Also, a little faster/thinner midranges that can get that low ceiling tight straight shot.
I grew up in Milwaukee. My Grandma lived right by Dretzka and I've been to Estabrook a handful of times. My family now lives near Tendick park

So many discs that can do this.

Buzzz for sure. Comet or fuse if you release them on a hyzer instead of straigth. Then we have the truth, or the pain, or the claymore.

Just get your hands on some that you can test throw.

Another Buzzz vote. Low ceiling Roc shot is exactly that.

I agree with all the people saying Buzzz (or one of the many Buzzz clones if you prefer another brand). If you really want longer distances on those lower lines, I'd say a star TL could be a great choice as well.
