Imagine all of the layups and half-hearted "attempts" to put it within a few feet.

Just like ball golf!

So exciting!

By the way Old Guy, many people have thought about this chainless basket.

We have one at a local private course.

It's a gimmick.

Did I say chainless? Nope, not ever. As a joke I did say we could use trash cans, no pole. That would be actually difficult. We simply need to go shorter and narrower. Not bigger and bigger like the trend!

Even Bullseye baskets work as we've seen. But maybe they bounce out at higher speeds too much so that might not be optimal (for aces to stick).

how many NBA players shoot 75% from the line? That's terrible.

Back in the day I was about 95% from the line.

Sure bud. Quit lying.

Missed my edit window.

In BBall you have shooters and then you have the big guys that can't shoot. The non-shooters bring the free throw average way down. Most shooters average around 90%. And of course that's while playing the game--running up and down the court, physical contact, etc.

Let's see the DG pros putting average if we add in some fitness work and body checking around the green. Make sure you have EMT's on standby. Most of these guys would struggle to run from tee pad to green.

Most shoot 90%, are you sure about that? lol

You listed 250 people and didn't even hit 79%. Since you claim 75% and show totally different information your credibility is ruined.

You're too stupid to know you're stupid.
Good luck in your life.

I listed the ALL TIME best free throw shooters in history of the NBA and ABA. What are you talking about?

And I have fallen in love with this!!

I play golf as well....maybe we should try to convince the OMD's to spend months on their boards, claiming everyone one wants larger holes, because putting is too hard. :)

It might seem ironic but i have a full business plan for large hole ball golf events collecting dust right now (haven't had time to pursue). I think they would be prefect for charity events, etc. and Rec golfers actually prefer them, similar to how Rec players prefer the big baskets we use for disc golf.

I'm not lying--I'm not suggesting I was a better shooter than these guys, there are a lot of factors that apply and impact shooting. These guys are in the middle of a game and sprinting up and down the court. Packed arenas, etc.

But, yeah, I was a baller from the line. I spent countless hours shooting free throws--on a given night (when I wasn't playing a game), I'd probably shoot 200 or more free throws. I didn't have much of a social life. I was either on the court playing basketball or at home practicing my shooting. Won free throw contests. Won hot shot contest, etc.

It might seem ironic but i have a full business plan for large hole ball golf events collecting dust right now (haven't had time to pursue). I think they would be prefect for charity events, etc. and Rec golfers actually prefer them, similar to how Rec players prefer the big baskets we use for disc golf.

They exist already. Seen Jr events advertised as well during tourneys.

Larger holes for Ams is a thing, maybe not broad scale but certainly out there.

We need smaller baskets to reduce the high speed that putts are currently thrown at. I want to see more touch required.

Sure bud. We all believe you shot 95% while the best ever is just creeping over 90%. :|

You said 1 putt. That is not challenging. They are expected to make it. Do you even understand what 97% means? That is 97 makes out of 100 putts. That is how percentages work.

So what? Tap in's are easy. In golf they are inside 5 feet, in disc golf they are inside 20 feet. Only you care. Disc golf does not need to be more like golf.

More misses on a smaller basket, more taps in's.
See....the bolded would be an unsubstantiated opinion. If I use it later to support other opinions as fact, that is dishonest and wrong. If I repeat it dozens of times, it does not become fact, nor a more popular opinion.

I agree with the touch part, but if the target area is smaller (say 3 inches shorter and narrower), then that line drive air ball from 30 feet comeback is even a lower percentage. Then just maybe guys stop line driving everything? In theory anyways.

The risk to rip everything turns into more 3 putts. May force guys to come with some height and touch.

It might seem ironic but i have a full business plan for large hole ball golf events collecting dust right now (haven't had time to pursue). I think they would be prefect for charity events, etc. and Rec golfers actually prefer them, similar to how Rec players prefer the big baskets we use for disc golf.

Golf in not broken either, IMO.

here's this years %

https://www.espn.com/nba/stats/player/_/stat/free-throws/table/offensive/sort/freeThrowPct/dir/desc

The top 9 guys are shooting between 90% and 95.8% and of course that is in game. Let a DG player work up a sweat and then step up to make a putt and I'm guessing percentages drop off quite a bit.

So you are selectively choosing a stat to fit your need. I already went career and all of NBA history. You can't get more accurate then what I gave you. Who cares if some guy is hot for 30 games? Too small of a sample size.

Have you ever played in Ft Wayne, IN, or maybe it was Indy, that had these baskets with straight hanging plastic covered rods(?) hanging down in place of chains?

They could be used since they did not break the patent Ed owned and were GREAT catchers.

Blue and yellow? I've putted on one.

Then why are they using a bigger hole for recreational players?

I have played rec golf for 50 years. I play in 1-2 golf leagues for the last 20 or so years. I travel with buddies to play golf all over Michigan. I have never played, seen nor heard of bigger holed golf courses. (unless a soccer ball was involved) I know of nobody who would be the slightest bit interested in making the game different.

I am sure this idea is out there, but it is a solution looking for a problem that does not exist......IMO.

Might come as a shock, but I don't support bigger bowling pins, larger horseshoe stakes, bigger jarts circles, bigger cornhole boards and holes or bigger scoring areas in darts. Still shockingly, none are broken or enhanced by smaller targets either.
