Absolutely amazing. I remember when this album came out, I saw the image and thought, "that would be an amazing dye" - but is waaaaay above my skill level.
If that disc is a Clutch, it would have been a great pairing.
I'm thinking somewhat along the same lines as Goosefraba - but instead of sprinkling dye powder into a soap bed, maybe putting a soap/dye mixture into a spray bottle & spraying directly onto the disc (while it lays flat)...
sidearm/flick with my NukeSS from either tee for the drive. If I hit the line right, the disc should hug the right side on release, flip over just a bit to the left side of the fairway, and finish up close to the (current) short pin position.
Then it's a Pure to finish up.
(also my "home"...
I heat a cup of water in the microwave, then put 1/2 teaspoon of dye powder in a shot glass. Add a couple drops of the hot water to the shot glass to liquify, then add that to the shaving creme.
To dye just the outer rim using the dip method, set the disc in the warm dye, then place a shot glass on top of it. Add water until its "sank" enough to your liking - being careful not to let the dye overflow into it.
or, if using a turntable, mix the dye (1/2 teaspoon) with hot water or...
the only thing with paint is that it will add thickness to the disc, thus rendering it non-usable in a sanctioned tourney under pdga rules.
dye doesn't add any thickness (it just stains the disc).
For any dyes I am doing, that are not traditional stovetop "dip dyes" I mix approx. 1/2 teaspoon of iDye with maybe 2 oz of hot water (roughly a shot glass-ful.) then I'll mix that with shaving crème, laundry detergent, or whatever medium the technique calls for.
I wish I could get a better pic of the 2nd one - I'm really really happy with how it came out. It was an old champ valk, that had an old stencil dye on it already (I can actually vaguely make out the old stencil in the pic).
