I’ll preface this by saying I’ve never been involved with the highest level and start near the end of the par 3 era. There’s a nuance I want to mention though.
Everything being a par 3 didn’t mean there weren’t long holes. It was more just understood that everything was par. There were times I...
This isn’t how the rulebook is structured. There’s no such thing as a one stroke standard for violating a rule. Every rule has the penalty explicitly stated.
This rule follows the format of the other rules in the book. There’s a section called illegal devices. The first several define the...
If there’s no reasonable way to get to the lie (for example, if it would be dangerous to get there), then it would be allowed to mark it next to the basket.
Here’s the applicable Rules Q&A:
QA-POS-1: How do I mark a disc in an inaccessible location below the playing surface like a crevice...
I’ve got an camp Kong sitting on a shelf, if you’re interested. It hasn’t been used in a long time. It has lots of rounds on it, but has plenty of life left.
I see your point, and I would just add one small point. I'm assuming that the only time this would ever happen is on the putting green within a couple of feet of the OB line, which would help narrow down the choices.
I would apply 801.01A in a different way to this situation. 804.03.G is clear that you can interfere with a disc to prevent it from becoming lost. Since a lost disc is a specifically defined state in the rule book, it is different than on OB disc. However, 804.03.G is the closest applicable...
Actually, I just thought about something else. If you're just driving through, Lindsey Park is a little bit out of the way, so if you only have time for one round, Longview might be a little more convenient. I'd still go to Lindsey Park though.
Lindsey Park. No question.
I've never actually played in Longview, and those courses may be nice and enjoyable, but if you're even thinking about playing two rounds, then it is Lindsey Park. The park has three terrific courses in one site, and the three courses are designed to fit three...
I'd like to see the PDGA publish some guidelines for this type of situation, so that players can have a clearer understanding of what may happen when nasty weather is in the forecast. There have now been two events in the last 6 months that were shortened because of foreseeable weather...
I think you have an inaccurate view of where the sport of disc golf is right now. Disc golf simply isn't a "real sport" where you can expect the entire field to play as a full time job. There were 112 players in the field at Nick Hyde, and probably 20-30 of those guys are full time touring...
My go to shot on a hole like this is a hyzerflip that flips all the way over. You'll want to have a disc that you can absolutely trust to go left. (I'm currently using a renegade, but I've used lots of really beat discs over the years). The benefit of this shot is that it flies relatively...
I wouldn't use this as a hard and fast rule. The rules Q&A clearly say that a bridge over OB water is treated as a separate playing surface, and a disc landing on the bridge would be in bounds. I've certainly played a few courses with overhanging roots that you could stand on and play from.
