Hi, I'm Ethan! I've been playing disc golf since about 1994. I've played some tournaments at the courses between DC and NY, but mostly play close to home. Home courses are Seneca Creek in MD and Bluemont in Arlington, VA.
I also write a blog recapping tournaments, throwing tips, and other...
"It's only weird if it doesn't work."
I also like to release the bad mojo on a disc after a bad shot. Avoiding throwing that disc only lets the evil grow stronger.
Loved playing the Vibram Birdie Bash at Giles Run. The Lace has a great glide and even brand new it had a predictable flight. Unfortunately, midway through the second round I ended up losing both the Lace and Sole to the prisoner-grabbing thorns at Giles. Better luck next time!
Forehands are quite a bit more stress on the shoulder than backhand, so no need to push your distance if you are feeling the strain.
For distance drivers, have you tried the Katana? I get a nice long and straight flight out of mine.
For me it's finger tips placed just along the rim. I'm aiming to have the disc rip from my hand from the arm speed. If I put the fingertips any deeper, there's a good chance I'll hold on to the disc too long. From your pic, your four finger placement looks pretty similar to mine.
The thumb...
Some will disagree, but I don't find that much difference between weights of the disc so much as the plastic type. My 150g Blizzard Boss holds its line and travels similar distance to my Champion Boss at 175g.
Your issue may be the DX plastic is beginning to show its age. Have you tried a...
Yes, these photos are better than none.
I had the same problem with my old iphone 4. I took off the back glass and popped out the plastic cover over the camera. You can also replace it with something you'd find here:

That's great, support from the local authorities is crucial to getting approvals. My brother recently installed a course in upstate NY and wrote down his steps for getting it funded and approved. It's the least fun but most important part of the process.
Keep us posted on progress here, I'll...
Budman, what are you looking to do with your throw? The shots shown on your Youtube clip look fine for an approach shot! If you're looking to add distance, you could add to your wind up so your hips and shoulders more fully rotate. Big rotation means less accuracy, though, so practice...
I use Distance Measure for iPhone. It's free and accurate. Just type in "distance measure" in the app store.

Bombs away!
My home course, Seneca Creek in MD could be considered a lefty course. Being right-handed, I should probably take some of this advice given to lefties trying to play "righty" courses.
Totally agree with the football field and Google Earth suggestions. Every football field I've measured comes out to 100 yards on the dot.
Now, demarcated fields aren't always available for throwing, so practice your 1 yard step distance beforehand. A couple years ago I thought I suddenly...
