I grabbed a couple Glow Spartans when I saw they got approved. I’m fairly confident that these are Glow TSA Mantras, which aren’t exactly cheap and are great flying glow drivers! The profile, PLH, and dome match up perfectly with the pair of totem wolf stamp Mantras I got in the past year...
I think a non-glow Proxy is going to be ever so slightly flippier than a Praxis on the first half of a drive. Agreed that the Glow Proxy is more similar to any standard Envy. That Eternal Bullet I mentioned feels identical to a Praxis but flies noticeably straighter than the Proxy/Praxis...
I A/B the Proxy/Praxis as my throwing putters at our local pitch & putt course.
Glow/Plasma/Soft Neutron Proxy
Aura/Nebula Ethereal Praxis
Both molds fly very very similar lines at around 200’‘. The Glow Proxy gets a slight nod for finishing fade over the rest. Have a Glow Praxis on the...
I’ve got the most recent run of Ethos Omen and Eternal Phoenix. YMMV, but I think the Phoenix fades earlier and harder when thrown on the same lines. It’s a fairly good standard Firebird replacement, whereas the Omen is more “straighter Firebird” and completely replaced my 2021 Sexton.
I have the Construct in Aura and Ethos, and a few Diamondbacks in Apex/Swirly Apex.
The Diamondbacks backhand pretty close to 9/5/-1/2 for me across the board. The Ethos Construct turns less/fades more than those, but I’d say that’s down to a more overstable plastic/flying more like 10/5/-1/2...
Quick Review with initial thoughts.
Plastic: I’d liken it to a more flexible ESP. Not a lot of grip compared to the other “Star” type plastics, but the flex makes up for that in some ways.
Profile: Little deeper than I like for a putter. No bead. Top wing has a pronounced downward bevel...
Initial thoughts from 15 minutes of throwing both swirly apex I received today:
These have less turn than I hoped, but I expected that based on some of the videos I’d seen. Also factoring in that the swirly plastic may possibly have a touch more stability. These feel/look great in the hand...
My Jacks (Sublime and Jumping Apex) have been that disc for me when I want the fade to kick in when the Freetail might not. Both plastic really fly more like 8/5/-1.5/1.5 for me, which I absolutely love. If the Diamondback can give me that shape into a good headwind, I’ll be happy. IF it can...
Flight number I’ve seen posted are 9/5/-2/2, at least for the Apex plastic releasing tonight. Some places will have limited Swirly Apex (cosmic neutron) as well with a different stamp. I know the comparisons always tend to happen, but I’m interested to see where this run slots with some of the...
I am one of the few that throws LHBH but putts RHBH. I'm naturally right-handed for anything else, but I get more control and power on my lefthand throws. I get comments from others about it all the time if they haven't seen me play.
With consistent use the 188g First Run I have is starting to turn over on throws and glide a LONG way. It used be monstrously overstable with minimal glide as others have stated. So there is hope for the heavies as they break in.
