Disc golf scene in Mariposa is nonexistent, but opportunities abound. Hit me up when you get close, and I'll show you the courses in Raymond. (About 30 to 45 min. depending on where in Mariposa you land. My parents live in Mariposa, and I would love to grow support for a course there. I will...
The course at the elementary school is in and playable. Make sure you download the map because the signs aren't in yet. Alternatively, PM me and I'll play it with you or arrange for you to have a guide.
I actually got most of my help on designing the course from these message boards. It's...
Something else for consideration is maintenance. The property owner probably isn't going to want to spend large amounts of time maintaining the course. This means that long grass could make his course decidely unfun during certain times of year (here in California, that's right now). A...
Another Fair or Foul Idea
I'm thinking about creating a basket location at the very edge of a small cliff. The location in question is the small rectangle farthest to the left in this picture.
The distance to the basket is 363', and it is a white level course. There is a landing area...
Points awarded for eagles, birdies, and metal hits. Women, youth boys, and men 50 and over will play from red tees. Men aged 17-49 will play from the white tees. Proceeds from the tournament will be put toward signage for the course. Go to http://www.vibramdiscgolf.com...die-bash.htmlto sign up.
I'm thinking about running one of these on a course that is almost finished. I'm thinking it might be a good way to introduce people to a course that is a bit remote. My chief concern is that it's only a 9 hole course so I'll have to limit the field. Anyone know if Vibram is cool with that?
I just realized that the old course layout is the first RIP course on my played list. I'm glad it's being replaced by two courses, not just going away altogether. I played my first ever tournament there last year. I think ultimately most reviewers will like one course slightly more than the...
After walking it off, I think I'm going to go with the three trees in a line idea. Each one will be 20-25 feet apart. They should grow together eventually to create a formidable obstacle for the A and C positions from both tees.
Thanks everyone for your input.
Chuck,
I'm not sure that I understand what you mean here:
"Then perhaps the trees should be placed in a line spaced 20-30 feet apart rather than together so at least one impacts play from each tee in some way?"
Placed in a line in which direction? Below is the Google Earth view of the area...
