We used 4x6's at the park and they seem to be working rather well. Same idea as what you are proposing, 2- 1/2" holes for #4 rebar on either end. Rock and rebar don't cooperate tho, FYI.

Just out of curiosity why is it considered pollution to have a random tire in the environment, but once that tire is ground up, its ok to spread it all over?
The norm truck time is about 3min./yd. If you get less than a 1/2 a truck there is usually a small truck delivery fee of about $100-125. Im assuming that the cement truck will not be able to drive up to all the tees? The trucks are over 60,000# and wont drive on bike trails, sidewalks, etc...
I am a firm believer that $1,000/hole will be a safe starting point. There are many variables that can significantly change the cost of the course install both plus and minus. The second largest cost aside of purchasing the baskets will be Labor.

IMO thats pretty conservative considering a DGA basket is about $450. That only leaves you $150 for cement, wood, aggregate, post, and signage plus any other additional labor you may need.
When I ordered Mach IIIs for the park, DGA had the best prices. I got a deal Buy 9 get one free.
I just looked at Marshall Street and they have a deal going now for Mach IIIs 18 for $7,560 free shipping. That will be cheaper than DGA.
