After years of playing tourneys and reading stuff here, I finally settled on a fairly mixed bag. Just choosing the discs that work best for me and trying to balance minimalism with my desire to try out and throw everything:
Innova: Destroyer, Shryke, Firebird, Teebird...
I would say they are perfect for the overstable PD slot, as someone who has owned a couple dozen and been throwing them since the “Teebird that farts rainbows” days.
The pink champ I have is crazy beef! My champ firebird has been in the bag a few years but this baby is about the same. It’s a disc that u throw normally and it wants to get to the ground so fast it makes u laugh. My pro level friend was actually able to get it to bomb straight for a long...
OP do you throw in lots of wind? If not, going to sub 150 gram versions of your favorite discs, or maybe discs the next slot up in stability could help.
It seems to work for shorter arm throwers I know. Especially ones who are older or have smaller statures.
Working with slower speed discs...
The x softs I had, bought a 3 pack, all still skipped way more than I wanted. They also seemed to chip and gouge very easily. I much prefer JB such a nice plastic!
I’ve had a jawbreaker for a year and it’s gotten a bit warped and dinged up but lasted surprisingly well. It’s definitely even developed a bit of turn like -1. Stands up then goes straight but still has little glide overall super nice. Sounds like a lemon I’d try another with winter approaching.
Has anybody gotten some throws in with these new run of stock glow champ shrykes? Curious where they fit into the spectrum stability wise. What is the most overstable Shryke ppl have come across recently?
Pre-ordered a schwarz on schwarz cubus 2.0! Super excited to try it out.
A buddy has the delta which I have checked out thoroughly. Will check back in if I have some good comparisons.
A had a go-cart about five years which I really liked. I used it, despite some loose push fittings, until...
Yes I think they are somewhat waxy feeling too.
If we’re talking galactic swirls: my 4 pack we’re all really nice discs. Waxy but with a ton of velvety texture to them too. Very stiff, similar to the really stiff ones from a few years back.
I actually find them to be a nice grippy run within...
Out of the discs I throw regularly, I’d say Star Leo3, seasoned in the 170s. Also I have a super beat E* Teebird that is amazing on smooth throws. Not so much when I go torque monkey haha.
I’ve been using McPro, grid stamp classic, and DX P&A for several years now. Just got first Champion version, immediately noticeable it molded up more shallow and comfortable, for a driving type putter, than the other plastics I’ve tried. DX is deepest, and McPro depth is between DX and Champ...
