Started with a spider for everything after my tee shot, then learned a little. Now I rarely throw a mid. I bag an Ibex for general purpose and a Blaze for my hard fades.

I started with an Xcal and still use it after 3 years. It's "too much disc" for a beginner, but I had fun! If you want to be a great player, work with your putter and buzz.

My wife's extended family will be in Ft. Worth the 26th and 27th of December. Several of us will likely try to hit one course with the possibility of a second. Local advice is much appreciated.

Definitely the two courses at the Lodge in Pawhuska, OK.
In central Oklahoma, I'd go with Dolese, NE Lions, or Noble. Not all really highly rated, bug all very enjoyable disc golf.
