My philosophy on rating courses:

I am not a disc golf pro, just an overly enthusiastic amateur. I have played my fair share of courses all over the Eastern US, and I give my ratings compared to all other courses I have played.

A rating of 2.0-3.0, according to the rating parameters of this site, is still a GOOD course- it just may not be "disc golf paradise."
A rating of 4.0-5.0 is reserved for the best of the best- championship style courses.

My biggest factors are:
-degree of difficulty balanced with fairness
-variety from hole to hole (length, shots required, non-repetitive)
-good flow and design
-and the aesthetic qualities.

I feel the primary purpose of DGCR is to help people, when traveling to an unfamiliar area, find a course that they will enjoy playing the most.
