I'm a loud, enthusiastic, golfer who doesn't really know the meaning of laying up Strong preferance for scenic hardwood courses with elevation, boulders and native plants!!
Dude! That sounds awesome! I just checked my calendar and it looks like that date is free. I'll have to check again when I get back but I've been wanting to play Sugaree, so this looks like a great chance to do that. Any idea on entry fee, players pack, and/or prizes yet?
During Cedarock doubles our second card was a pair from Roxboro. One of them mentioned that a tournament is coming up at Rockness. He also stated that they finish the tees. I took that to mean that they are pouring pads. I could be wrong.
I would love to get down to your neck of the woods one day; so many nice courses within easy driving distance. Alas, no plans for at least the next decade, but you never know. My wife and I are doing our first disc golf tour from Kamloops BC down to the Portland area, and if it goes well I'm sure we will start to plan more trips around the sport.
I'm really enjoying the bag right now, the Dart was my latest addition and I love it. It reminds me to be patient and let the discs do the work.
I know it's a long trip but we are hosting the Canadian Championships this year, so if you are looking for something different, keep it in mind. www.kdgc.com
Hey man...sorry I ending up going to visit family around thanksgiving. I would love to play Simple Pleasures and thank you very much for the invite.
Any time you would like to play Black Jack I can hook it up for you. Most likely March is going to be best based on the weather up here in the high country.
I think they are, but I don't know when. It may be later in the year. My brother and I have been talking to Dave about doing one, but Dave is something of a perfectionist, and he wants the course perfect before he opens it up for a tourney. He's constructing wood-framed, crushed gravel pads for all white and blue tees (probably as I type). Let me check and get back to you.
Flip was overall lackluster. I suppose maybe the experience of camping there, playing all weekend, and being a typical golfer who gets baked out of his gourd is what really makes the "course" so great. The terrain and surrounding plants, flora, fauna, etc are just all the same. Despite some creative use of terrain, there was absolutely nothing extraordinary about it. If you want a fantastic disc golf experience, go play Phantom Falls - Paulie does a GREAT job out there. And you can play a few others near it as well as Conifer Park!
I'm pretty sure I have your course wishlisted. Next time I make a beer-cation to Asheville, and play Ashe County Park, I'll definitely plan to hit you up!
saw you review on Catawba Meadows and i agree with you about the grass and such I stopped by there on my way back form Asheville threw one hole and that was all, that grass was ridicules. There's a nice little course in Southern Pines, Pine Cone Crush that deserves a look although it does have dirt tees.
