My first intro to disc golf was around '89 when a friend took me to Old Settler's Park in Round Rock, Texas. I was a fairly avid frisbee fan, so I thought it would be fun.
I went a few other times throughout the next 2 decades around the Austin area, but I never got "the bug" till just recently in May/June of 2008. I think it was due to the fact that I was throwing overstable discs whenever I played before and I hated how they always turned to the left, unlike a frisbee would.
Then, as I was trail-running on the Rivery course in Georgetown, Texas (now I hate it when others use disc golf courses for their "other" activities) I happened to find a very understable Lightning X-15 disc. I decided to have some fun and throw it around and, to my amazement, it didn't go left that much. I had no idea there were different flight patterns for various discs in disc golf.
I was very interested then, and began buying some more to experiment, and the rest is history.
I'll play till someday I'm in a wheelchair. Hell, even then I'll probably still find a way to play!
