Reviews: The basis of my ratings is what I refer to as disc play: "How well does this course demonstrate what I believe the game of disc golf is (or should be) all about?" Things like (but not limited to) shot variety, hole design, course layout, challenge, use of property's natural attributes, uniqueness, and course maintenance form the foundation of my rating. Such characteristics directly contribute to what I refer to as disc play. I strive to be as honest, fair, and objective as possible and provide concrete examples when listing pros and cons.
Some things I list under cons are included strictly for informational purposes. I don't necessarily ding ratings for them if they don't directly affect disc play. Conversely, I will bump a course's ratings (but not more than a 1/2 disc) for things like like amenities, aesthetic appeal, atmosphere... while they may not directly affect disc play, they impact the overall experience, and contribute to my desire (or lack thereof) to return.
All of this factors into a rating that's mostly objective, with a slight bit of subjectivity that I simply feel is necessary to account for things that contribute to a great experience.
