Pros: Ord's Brussell Park is surprisingly technical for a park nine. The first thing that pops out in my memory of this course if how well it was designed it is, using every little unique feature the park offers to add difficulty. Brussell Park has Good pin placements, tougher than normal park fairways, slight elevation changes. It seems to me that the design emphasis was placed more on fun slightly and more difficult shots rather than other aspects like ease of flow. As a result this nine hole park course has a more adventurous feel than the norm.
Cons: There are some flow issues, sometimes the next tee was not right next to the previous basket, but it doesn't take much to figure out where to go next. Many times, I just looked to the spot I would like for the next fairway to be and I wouldn't be far off from there. The course and park is split down the center by a city street so there is a point where you have to pack it in and begin anew on the other half of the course and I did not have the easiest time getting back into the groove. On a warm day in early September the park was very buggy.
Other Thoughts: I would recommend this course to anyone in the area and course baggers who have already gotten those along I-80. I played this park as part of a loop which included Loup City and Burwell NE. Any player looking to make the trip would probably want to get all three in to make any one worth their time and should not expect to be blown away but anything specifically course related. I had a funny small town moment where a local cop gave me a friendly wave; I love that type of encounter. Also, it seems that the restaurant options are better here than they are in Burwell if you are typing to figure out when to get in lunch.
