Pros: Good tee pads.
Good shade opportunities.
Nice grass park.
One elevated basket.
Pretty wide open.
Cons: Missing the 9th basket.
Always a lot of bystanders, usually in the way.
Lots of misquotes. (June)
Baskets right up against the road. With cars behind them.
Drop off at the end of some of the tee pads.
Mostly short straight holes. Good for practice though.
Other Thoughts: I'm not impressed by the course. Windlands is much better and seems to be less busy. Since #9 doesn't have a basket we played a par 4 to #1 basket. Made it more fun. Needs work or relocation.

Pros: This course will really test your fundamentals, especially if you play all the OB. It's easy to find your discs even on bad shots. There are actually 19 holes on this course playing off 9 baskets.
Cons: There is not a lot of techichnical shots. It can get conjested on nice days. There are normally a lot of people out there not playing golf.
Other Thoughts: Find a local and play the back nine. It's normally very windy and will really test your putting.

Pros: At least this course wasn't a pitch and putt like some 9 holers. They tried to use the little elevation on most of the holes by putting the baskets on the hills and you tee off on the hill for the next hole.
Cons: There is little to no parking. They apparently just added tee pads, but one of my pet peeves is when the tee pads are on a hill so if you fall off the tee pad when you throw it is scary that you may twist an ankle. The course was pretty boring There was no sort of challenge. Hole 4 was absolutely terrible The backstop was right in the middle of the fairway. Also hole 5 has a chain linked fence right off the tee box.
Other Thoughts: I'm surprised this city only has one 9 hole course. On my way into the city I drove by several signs that pointing to other parks This course was boring and honestly wasn't that fun.

Pros: They have added nice concrete tee pads to all the tees. Good signs at all the tees. Not a hard course to follow.
Cons: A bathroom near by would be nice. If you like lots of difficult technical shots you may be disappointed.
Other Thoughts: The new tee pads and signs that have been added have made this a much better course. Do not follow either of the maps found in the "links/files" tab. They are both out of date. The first tee is near the handycapped parking at the play ground and it is easy to follow the course from there.
It would be nice if the city of Midland would put in an 18 hole course somewhere. It is kind of a shame that many other smaller communities near by have much better courses than Midland

Open course, bring a GPS to find tees.

Pros: You definitely get to put your driver to good use. There aren't any holes where you can't use it. The course is very wide open, so if you rip off an errant shot, you can make up for it because there aren't many trees or obstacles to overcome.
Cons: The biggest problem is the layout of the course. I had no idea where I was going or even where to start my first time out. I just sat on a bench and waited for a couple groups to go by and followed them to learn the course. There are zero signs marking the course; all you have is the baskets to see. The tee boxes are marked with strips of metal in the ground, so they're nearly impossible to locate without scouting out the entire park (especially hole 5 and 8).

The only other problem is that it may be TOO open. It can get a little bit boring actually. The basket locations under most of the trees is what saves it from being a waste of time.
Other Thoughts: Under the files for this course, I added a map of the course that shows where the trees are which will help as a reference when you are trying to locate tees and correct baskets.

7 of the 9 baskets are located under tree cover, so you can take that as either a pro or con. There's 1 basket in the middle of nowhere in the open, and the 9th basket is behind some small evergreen trees.

You do indeed have to be careful of people at the park that arn't there for the disc golf, because most are blissfully unaware that they're in the path of discs. I've played probably 10 times so far, and most of the people out there have done it a few times, so groups are usually courteous and allow singles to play through.

Pros: The course makes the best use of the park. With all the baskets located around the few trees the holes are fun with a little challenge. Great course to introduce new players to the sport.
Cons: No restrooms. The natural tees are wore down and could use some work. A few are on a severe down slopes and make for fairly difficult drives.
Other Thoughts: Not worth a long drive to play the course but have enjoyed playing there daily while working in the area. Someone recently added some flags to give an alternate tee location giving the course a slightly different look.

Pros: Wide open, great practice course. A good course to bring kids to if not too busy. Met a local and played it backwards to make 18 which was cool.
Cons: In the very middle of Cowden park. Marked poorly and have to backtrack from 5 to 6.
Other Thoughts: Needs a bathroom.

Pros: Great place to paractice long shots. Open fairway.
Cons: Too short, too much walking between holes, and couldn't find tee boxes. Not well marked and would probably be a much better course if it was enlarged and marked better.
Other Thoughts: Switch a couple of holes to make walking shorter and keep from players crossing. Add markers and tee pads and put in two pin placements to make it 18 holes. I would return to this course with these changes. Not worth driving more than 30 minutes to play at it's current level.

Pros: Great place to practice long drives, two blocks out of the way home and play near daily as a result
Cons: Little Shade and as many have said it fills with water for quite awhile with just alittle rain. Holes 5 and 6 should really be swapped, stops alot of extra walking if they would.
Other Thoughts: Overall I enjoy the course, not alot of people playing daily so it works well for us. We play nearly daily after work on the way home it's great for a quick game.

Pros: In town, easy access, not busy at all.
Cons: When it rains, it floods. You can still play a round, just have to skip holes 2 & 7. Natural tees are hard to find, and easy to loose footing on. Its hard to figure out how to play the course as there are no signs, just markers in the ground that get grown over by grass.
Other Thoughts: I play here fairly often, and enjoy it. It sure would be nice to have some concrete launch pads. If you made it to this website, check out the map here to figure out how its laid out.
