Technical and Fun Course

Pros: 1. Concrete tee pads with good sign and par info
2. Mix of wood and pond comes into play.
3. Easy to get around, good direction to the next tee.
4. All sort of technical skill tester.
5. Beginner friendly. a tester for intermediate to advanced player. You can hone your skill for your mid-range throw.
Cons: 1. Some trees need to be cut in some holes. At least one skinny tree in hole 2, hole # 5 need a little bigger fairway considering 400 ft par three, at least one big pine tree on hole # 12.
2. Access to rest room and faucet.
3. Don't have holes to show off your big arm. You have opportunity for big side arm shots in couple of holes though.
Other Thoughts: This is a short but challenging course. If you want to shoot under par numbers, you need to be a consistent disc thrower and you need to know what your disc does. This course give you the opportunity to hone your mid-range, side arm and thumber/tomahawk skills. There are couple of holes which have low ceiling, and very straight fairways in which you might need some stable disc. For me, Innova Atlas, Groove, Leopard, and my classic aviar putter is a good enough disc for this course. Deserves the second visit.

Pros: Coming from Savannah I enjoyed immensely the piney sandhill terrain. There were very nice concrete tee pads. The course has no problems with land erosion. There is a lake, so water can come into play on a number of holes and from a number of angles (behind the basket, along the right side of the fairway, etc). There's at least a couple of cool, super hard turning doglegs. Hole 18's fairway is a raised dyke with the lake on one side and a steep ditch on the other.
Cons: Mainly that there is only one tee location per hole. Some of the holes seem too short and open for a par 3, while others seem too long with no definition to the fairway.
Other Thoughts: The layout has definitely been changed as the previous reviewer in '11 mentioned. The pictures seem to be from the old course layout. There doesn't seem to be much traffic on this course-- that can be a pro or con.

 Course Redesigned in New Location

Pros: Holes were a good challenge.
Well-organized, easy to follow from hole to hole.
Typically a short distance between holes.
The beginning of the course has a nice pavilion and sign of rules for beginners.
Cons: Every hole was wooded; I would have liked to see a mix of wooded and open areas.
The course was not well-cleared. The walking areas were uneven, and there was quite a bit of stuff hanging down from trees, sometimes blocking even 'fairways'.
The fairways were typically very narrow, if they existed at all.
Other Thoughts: This course used to be great for beginners. Now I would say it'd be more difficult because of the lack of open holes. It's not necessarily bad, just very different.

Pros: - Only course in the area
- good mix of wooded and a few open
- had a few shots where water came into play
- good course for mid and putter practice
- a few holes required precision shots
Cons: - short by challenging.
- the basket numbers were very messed up the day i played it which led to confusion on which basket we should be throwing to.
- good course

Pros: Great beginner course. Easy to navigate around the course. No conflict with other pedestrian traffic.
Cons: Bathrooms? Natural teepads, mostly sandy thus inconsistent footing from teepad to teepad. No trash cans on course. Out of bounds (Cyclone fencing) on some of the holes may cause problems for beginners.
Other Thoughts: This course is located on East Georgia College's campus, east of downtown Swainsboro, Georgia. A little hard to find, it might be a good idea to google map the course before trying to drive there. Considering there are no other courses within the immediate area it's a pretty decent course, for beginners.
If you are a beginner, this is a good course, no holes are longer than 300 feet, and each hole has a valid fairway to navigate, except for hole 5 (or 6 (pinball alley)). As a beginner you might have problems with some of the holes where a fenceline marks OB on holes 7, 8, and 9, it may come into play with no chance to retrieve your disc. The same on hole 18 where the pond comes into play. Experienced players will not have a problem with fencing or the pond. If you are an experienced disc golfer with nowhere else to play, you can set up a safari course and have a very challenging round, or if you want to practice your approach shots with a midrange just play the regular course.
The terrain is fairly flat with very sandy soil which makes your footing on tee shots dicey. Course design incorporates trees and shrubbery very well, some tee shots will need to avoid parking lot and street OB. The course flows very well starting on one side of the visitor parking lot and ending fairly close to where you started next to the same parking lot. Teesigns are adequate and are in plain sight behind the teeing area. The teepads are marked with flat red square cinder blocks which gives you the correct direction and area to tee from. Baskets are all numbered correctly if you have a problem figuring out which basket to shoot to.
Course knowledge is hardly a factor, most all tee shots are straight forward being such a short and relatively open course. Playing time is around 30-40 minutes for 18 holes for a solo player. Multiple players will take an hour max, depending on playing level.
Keeping in mind this is a beginner course, my rating is a solid three, three and a half if they had better teepads. Comparing this course to a championship level course would give it a lower rating, but it is what it is, a good beginner course and worthy of any community trying to introduce and develop disc golf.

Pros: Easy to get around course.
Course is well maintained, grass mown, trash picked up.
Cons: No facilities
Other Thoughts: A little overgrown on 16 maybe? Limbs block any approach save throwing along a road. Course is laid out kinda zigzag in places, but on reflection that keeps you from throwing toward cars in the parking lot if school is in. I enjoyed playing this course.

 A nice par 3 course

Pros: Very visually appealing, sits next to a pond, course is clean and well-maintained. Good layout, clearly marked. Fun for the casual player. Experts should skip this and head to Pooler, unless you need to tune your short game.
Cons: It is a very short course, which seems odd given the large amount of land it occupies.
Other Thoughts: Entering Swainsboro from the east on U.S. 80, which is the main road, it is next to imposible to find the college entrance. There's one small sign on 80 but it directs you into a neighborhood maze with no more signs. Don't believe the website when it says, "follow the signs to East Georgia College," because they just aren't there.

Pros: It's the closest disc golf course to Statesboro, GA.
Cons: Way too short to be taken seriously.
Other Thoughts: Some nice holes (#2, #9), but a mostly straightforward birdie paradise. Not terrible by any stretch of the imagination, just don't expect much.

Pros: -Very clean and well maintained.
-Nice signs at every tee.
-Very forgiving even for beginners.
-because of its size, you should always be able to keep an eye on your car.
Cons: -Not a good course for showing off your long arm.
-No restrooms unless you enter the school. (Might not be a good idea)
-Although all tees can be found quickly, the front of the signs are not always visible from the previous basket. (minor pick)
Other Thoughts: Most if not all holes are between 175 to 225 feet in length. The course is very flat with no elevation change but this can be expected in Swainsboro. The basket placement is very creative, especially on hole 2 and the water hole on 18. I found the course to be very forgiving. Even if you screw up your drive, you can be under the basket with your second shot. Trees are scattered throughout the course but fairways are almost completely mowed grass. This is a perfect course to play as a beginner.

Pros: Nice layout and good use of campus land makes this a fun, short round or two. Short but sweet. Shots need more accuracy than distance. Cool pin placements.
Cons: Short. It seems like there is room to make a few holes a little longer. Kinda hard to find the college in this small town!
Other Thoughts: make it longer!
