Pros: The biggest positive for this course is that it services a city with no other public, free disc golf courses. It features really nice concrete tee pads and Mach V baskets. The base of the target has an arrow to aid navigation to the next tee. Almost every hole is short with many extremely short though many force a line. While it isn't a challenge for the experienced golfer, it will get more people into disc golf than a championship course. Some interesting holes once you get through the first 6. Stroller friendly.
Cons: Holes are too short due to land constraints. The first 6 holes are almost all completely open. With a long walk down the road on your left between holes 6 & 7, Look for 7's tee past a gate on the left. Another long walk back to the parking lot after 18.
Other Thoughts: I suspect much of the design was constrained by many factors. Using the athletic field parking lot. Avoiding the pump track and dirt jumps at the farthest end of the wooded area. Not throwing over or into roads. Not bringing the steep hillside into play. It is apparent that safety was the primary concern (as it should be). I gave it a very low rating because of the many short holes but that doesn't mean you should avoid the course. It is worth playing if you are in town.
The college obviously took replacing the old object course seriously and hired an experienced designer, put in concrete tees, premium baskets and though they weren't there at the time of this review, signage will be installed. I wouldn't be surprised to see trees added to add some dimension to the first 6 holes that are almost obstacle free. It is a good start and hopefully leads to the City of Durango considering a disc golf course.
