Pros: -Most of the course plays through the woods which require a variety of skill shots which include going left, right and praying you can hit a small gap.
-Very good signs. Map of course at the beginning, tee pad signs with detailed maps and distance. There are also many signs to guide you to the next hole which eliminate any navigation fears.
-Many of the holes are birdieable, but you still have to execute your drive through the trees and make your putt.
-Its right off the bypass and is easy to find.
-Didn't have much trouble finding discs off the fairway
-Very good signs. Map of course at the beginning, tee pad signs with detailed maps and distance. There are also many signs to guide you to the next hole which eliminate any navigation fears.
-Many of the holes are birdieable, but you still have to execute your drive through the trees and make your putt.

Cons: -Prairie grass is tall and thick on 17. A spotter would be a good idea.
-No way to tell which pin placements to go by on some blind shots except by scouting. Example 7 has a pin to the left and a pin to the right.

Other Thoughts: I really enjoyed playing this course. I love playing on courses that allow me to use my imagination on how to approach my shots instead of obvious lines. Most of the pin placements were the longer of the two. Even with the long tees it was still a quick play. If someone has accuracy issues they may want to avoid this course until they improve their game.

Pros: The course plays mostly through wooded areas with a few holes out in open fields. There is some cool elevation throughout the course, with a mix of tricky uphill and downhill holes and some nice greens that offer risky roll away potential. There is a great mix of lines, with a balance of left and right turning shots and some very creative shots needed to score well. There weren't really any holes that felt repetitive.
There is some distance variety too, with some ace run type shots, a couple more open holes that call for longer shots, and some long tight shots in the woods that really make you try to bite off some distance while staying on the fairway. The majority of the wooded holes offer fair lines that are tight enough to be a good test with enough punishment to make you pay for errant shots.
The concrete tees are in nice shape, with a decent grip even when damp. The signs are plenty detailed with hole distance and map. The flow is good, with white posts marking the way on longer walks between holes.
There is some distance variety too, with some ace run type shots, a couple more open holes that call for longer shots, and some long tight shots in the woods that really make you try to bite off some distance while staying on the fairway. The majority of the wooded holes offer fair lines that are tight enough to be a good test with enough punishment to make you pay for errant shots.

Cons: A few of the wooded holes were a bit on the lucky side, with lots of small trees and a plinko type feel. The pin positions change things quite a bit, I loved the long pins but the shorts looked a lot less interesting and challenging. The pin positions aren't marked, and with many blind shots it could get old walking ahead to scout them out. There are some erosion issues on the hills in the woods, and things can get a bit slick when wet.
Other Thoughts: There are some really fun lines here, and the elevation is used well to add some cool challenges. Beginners might find it a bit tight and tough even in the shorts, though the rough isn't disc eating. More experienced players will find some good tests in the long pin placements.

Intermediate?
Pros: - Course is set in a wooded section of this park, with the beginning and end in more open areas. Disc golf seems to be well separated from any other activities; though there was a dog walker on #16 by the neighborhood.
- Lots of tight, twisting, turning fairways in the woods here. There are a pair of hard left and hard right holes (#8 and #12, I believe), that also offer a tight lane direct to the basket. Choose wisely! Other holes have straight up tight windows to hit, like #4 mid-fairway and #7 off the tee. Definitely a good mix of direction, and difficulty.
- Holes out in the open have good character as well. #1's long is protected by a smattering of trees, and #3 also finishes in the woods. #16 has well placed trees/rough to prevent a clear upshot, #17 is a big, long anny that ends in the woods, and #18 is a nice blind hyzer. These start off a little slow, but finish strong.
- Decent elevation changes here on some holes. #4's twisting fairway is a slight downhill/valley, almost a corkscrew fairway. The short uphill tee shot on #7 is definitely noticeable, and #10 plays slightly downhill. Some areas in the woods, off the fairways, have nasty slopes. #18's tee is much higher than the basket; a fun shot to end it.
- Plenty of hazardous areas to punish bad shots here. The rough can be very thick inside the woods, both in terms of underbrush and tree jail. A bad shot or nasty kick can be devastating to the score. A small creek on #10 and #18 offers some legitimate OB, especially on #18.
- Some very long holes with the right basket positions, #14? even has a post mid-fairway to point the way. I had the pleasure of playing ALL LONGS out here, and wow, there were some brutal ones. The distances listed on here (as of 4/1/12) seem a little short. Hmm...
- Good baskets and pads, tee signs show the hole good enough, but don't list the placement. Navigation isn't bad at all, signs help to point the way.

Cons: - Playing all longs here provided a real challenge; no doubt. But, it seemed like a lot of the short placements were very short. Not sure how much I trust these numbers, but 10! are under 250' in the shorts, with 6!! under 200'. That is a huge difference between the two, not sure if I would enjoy it half as much.
Other Thoughts: - Set up in all longs, I have trouble finding many cons. Lots of length, some standard lines, and some good, funky ones. Variation of tight and open in the woods, with pretty good holes out of the forest. Plenty of hazards and elevation changes really add to the character of the course. A tough course for all skill levels, I would think.

Technical Pros: long shots mixed with technical shots,very challenging for new and old players, concretes tees, very easy to navigate
Cons: after spring the plant growth is brutal and it makes it a nightmare to find misplayed discs, vandals have destroyed some of the posts around the course
Other Thoughts: this is my hometown course and i have played it numerous times over the last couple years, i havent seen as many people playing as usual probably due to the growth of weeds

The Predator of the Pirates
Pros: (I've been bored choosing review titles, time to mix it up a bit)
Amenities. Bathrooms (were closed for the winter), Playground, limited parking area.
Primarily a disc golf course. I noticed some people walking dogs in the area, but other users shouldn't be much of a concern here.
Beginner friendly. Though the back 9 might be a bit frustrating, this would be a great place to learn the game and practice lines.
Variety. Good variety of distances with a few ace opportunities, though most holes are technical and challenging enough that birdies don't come easily and are rewarding. After starting relatively bland with some open holes, it gets slightly more interesting as the holes head through the woods, most of the front 9 is relatively short. This course shows it's glory when you head to the back 9 though, with longer and more challenging holes. My favorite was 14, a perfect place for a well placed flex shot.
Tees. Level concrete tee pads on every holes were all in good condition (though a bit dirty, a broom might come in handy).
Baskets. Disccatchers mostly in good shape with multiple placements on most holes (hole 4 basket was bent out of shape but still functioned)
Signage. Each tee pad had a sign showing distance, multiple pin locations, par, hole # and a map of the hole. (I did note that at least one sign was close enough to the pad that it could be hit with a follow through)
Maintained. Most of the fairways were clear (hole 13 had huge piles of brush lining it), the course was free of trash with trash cans provided sporadically.
Navigation. Easy to follow, anywhere it might confusing just look for the white posts.
Information Kiosk. At the start of the course there's a map, score card and the story of how this course was created and what to expect from this course.
9 hole loops. If you only had time for 9 holes, hole 9 ends relatively close to the vehicles.
Elevation/Water. Comes into play on a few holes, some of it is relatively impressive, and what little water there is comes into play decently on a couple holes.
Scenery. Has the feel of hiking through the woods, some of it's a bit rough, but mostly pleasant to look at.

Other Thoughts: Make the trek out here if you're looking for a decent 18 holes, I wouldn't necessarily make this a destination, but worth the trip out if you have the time. If you're in the area on a time crunch I'd stick to the Quad Cities.

Not too Shabby
Pros: This course has an absolutely wonderful layout throughout the woods and back out into the prarie at the end.
There is a good variety of shot types and different directions in which the holes go, which is nice.
The woods holes especially are nice due to some old growth trees as well as the underbrush being remvoed. When those shots go astray it's nice to not have to walk through thorns, weeds and poison ivy to retrieve it.
The last whole has a very nice elevated tee shot over water, and compliments several other holes which also go over water or near streams. There is no need to worry about losing discs here though, the water levels are fairly low and the current is negligible. Although I could see if a decent rain came through that the waters could easily rise and cause issues.
Overall I would say that this is one of the nicer courses in the quad city area for both layout and maintenence. Only one hole had an off balance tee off, and they are all concrete.

Challenging Woods
Pros: -Concrete Tee Pads

Other Thoughts: This is a great course. We play this one often in early spring and into the fall. I noted today that there has been a lot of downed wood cleaned up and chipped into the fairways. It's still early to tell, but it looks like the lower branches on a lot of trees have been trimmed up and the course looks clean. Well, besides the trash all over the ground from lack of trash receptacles. Over all, very challenging.

-The prairie holes (16, 17) are nice, the fairways are cut out of headhigh prairie grass which shapes the holes nicely, although it's not so much fun finding your disc in it.
-Some elevation, 4 is a steep downhill, 9 has a nice fallaway green, 18 is a great hole that plays over a ravine and partially up the hill
-Mostly separate from park and there are practice baskets

-The course is a mess when muddy, which will be alleviated when they mulch the downed wood.
-There has been a lot of local routes haphazardly cut by the locals. Hole 8 short is a good example. It looked like it was a nice sharp rhbh hyzer or a rhbh forehand roller, but some local came out and cut a line directly to the basket. This sort of activity just takes away from the course. And I am expecting this to continue as a local I played with told me his plans to take a couple "saplings" out on a couple holes.

Pros: Course dedicated to DG. Playground next to course. Walking path along side of park. Open shelter. Bathrooms during summer months. Small paved roundabout parking lot. Course sign with scorecards and map.

Other Thoughts: A couple of holes to note: Hole 4 is a great entrance into the woods. If the pin is in the short location, it is located at the bottom of the very steep hill, with the creek just beside it. Good opportunity for an Ace. Pin in the long position, it is located back up the hill on the other side, with no direct line as the trees line the fairway. Hole 18 is a fantastic hole worth writing home to mom about. The tee starts back in the trees, throwing through a tight opening about 50' - 75' up the fairway. The hole then drops down to cross the creek over a nice wooden bridge. The pin on the short location is just to the left after the creek 25' or so, in the long position the pin is 50' up and to the right of the bridge.
Looks like the pins are switched once a year. Half of the holes in the long and the other in the short.
I like coming here if I am in town. Kids can play on the playground when I warm up, and they like coming with me when I play and running through the wooded holes. They are my little spotters.

Tight but fair
Pros: Course is within a nice city park however it is almost totally separate from park activities except for holes 1,2,3 and 18. Concrete tee pads with tee signs with descriptions of holes and their distances. Most holes with 2 pin placements. White posts noting pathway to next tee. Disc catcher baskets. Good variety of holes with a creek in play. Also, good use of elevation. Many "blind" pin placements add to the challenge.
Cons: Some very dense rough on about 1/2 the holes. Extremely narrow fairways on holes 16 and 17 with 5-6 foot grass on both sides. Hole 14 is a brutal double S fairway in tight woods with the long pin placement ( about 550 feet )
Other Thoughts: Enjoyed this course as I prefer nook and cranny type courses. Doesn't look as if this course gets much play as wooded fairways did not seem worn down from foot traffic, which is fine with me as this means less termites (casuals) in the way. It took about 2 and 1/4 hours to play as a single. Suggest playing with 2 or 3 others as a spotter would make for easier navigation.
