A distance thrower's course

Pros: This course uses what old growth trees are here to the best that can be utilized. There is a nice scenic view of the lake. The grass is mowed frequently.
There are a few holes that have decent lines to hit and there are a couple holes that provide both uphill and downhill throws as well.
This is a good course if you want to test that new driver out because many of the holes have length to them. Most of the nickels have been painted bright orange to help you spot them easier. Also there have been a lot of young trees planted to help define fairways better and provide line shaping.
My favorite hole here was #10 with the protected basket.
Also hole 14 with the 2 cedars guarding the basket, 15 with a gap to hit right off the box and hole 16 with the sharp dog leg left with the basket guarded were some interesting and memorable shots.
Cons: The lack of signage, what signs are left here are dilapidated to say the least. A lot of the holes are mostly wide open making wind be a factor in your round.
Also with many of the holes lacking shade it gets plenty hot here in the OK summer.
A few more trash cans and benches would be nice here.
Directional arrows or painted rungs on the baskets might help the out of towner navigate their way a bit easier.
Other Thoughts: I've played this course several times and improvements have been made from my first time such as the mowing on a more regular basis and the planting of young trees.
The trees will make this course play that much tougher and will provide a bit of a break from the wind. Its just going to take some time for them to mature.
Kudos to the PCDGC for all their efforts and improvements on this and the other 2 courses in Ponca City. With this course which allows you to air out your drives, the Bois D Arc course which will test your accuracy(and mental game), and the War Memorial course which is a good entry level course, Ponca City has all their bases covered. Play the 2 lake courses as a pair and you will enjoy how they compliment each other.

Pros: Awesome views of the lake. Good for wind practice and long distance throws. There is a SICK wooded 18 hole course directly adjacent to it.
Cons: Mostly open. Hyzer hyzer hyzer. Poor use of terrain.
Other Thoughts: We plan on re-doing the layout in the future to make better use of trees and elevation.

Pros: Great baskets and a great layout with holes that you can really get creative with. A good course if you have a strong arm and accuracy to go along with it. If you can make it out there a few times a week or even a month your game will always be getting better its a great "training" course where the wind is always blowing!
Cons: Most of the signs are missing and the city has removed a good deal of trees making a lot of holes long, wide open shots. During the summer it is overgrown from time to time but that has been getting better.
Other Thoughts: Some of the baskets have been moved up and there should be new signs out there in the near future. Eveything is a par 3 and the course record in a tournament is -8 and the recreational course record is -12....Have fun!

Pros: The course has a very good view of the lake on a majority of the holes with minimal water hazard potential; really only holes 1 and 3 have strong hazard potential as they are reachable off the tee. All holes are reachable in 3 with strong birdie opportunities on several of the holes. All baskets were in good shape. There was a good variety of hole types, mostly open with moderate tree hazard, requiring forehand and backhand throws. This was my first trip, I went alone, and was able to navigate the course and find all baskets. Overall I really liked this course.
Cons: As noted a majority of the signs are missing or do not face the right way and the numbers spray painted on the tee boxes (most) do not correspond to the correct hole that the tee box is for. Grass could have been mowed, not sure how often they do, but it wasn't bad enough to affect play. A tree had been blown over in a recent storm and was covering the 17th tee pad.
Other Thoughts: A few of the holes have nice wooden benches located next to the tee box to rest at and most tee boxes have a trash can located there too which is nice. Also, there are quite a few secluded areas of the course where you could partake in other recreational activities you might enjoy. Worth a trip if you're in driving distance. Baskets for holes 10 and 16 are well hidden, into the tree line approx. 10-15 ft but all are there.

Pros: Nice part of the lake to play at, some holes have water in play (1,3,4,7,16,17).
Course plays good for both right and left hand players.
Big concrete tee pads.
Most holes have signs only 1, 3, and 5 were missing.
All the baskets were there and in good shape but #6 but it is playable.
The grass was at the time I last played cut short, east to skip. I've been out here when it was tall but only effected rollers.
Long but stll birdieable holes, some.
Cons: Missing a few signs, 1, 3, and 5. Someone has came out and painted on the tees a 9 hole course that starts at the south parking area and ends there, so this maybe throw new players to the course off. Like Hole #1 has a #6 on the concrete tee.
Other Thoughts: The course is long and the wind coming off the lake is probable strong most of the time. Some holes play close to the water but should not be a big deal but on hole #16, and #17. If the lake is up hole #16 sets about 4ft from the waters edge.
Good course but takes some big throws and a little time to walk, Hour and a half to two.

Welcome to the Jungle, we got fun and weeds...
Pros: This course has beautiful views of the lake and is accessed easily from the main road. The holes are good for distance challenges, since the majority are over 400ft. All the tees are concrete and are pointed toward the correct pin.
Cons: The course has not been maintained well. The baskets are in good shape. However, about 50% of the tees are missing signs and most are missing proper markings to designate the basket direction. This course is primarily a long throwing/distance course. If you don't enjoy every fairway being long, or if you are not a distance thrower, you may not enjoy this course. Once you reach the baskets, there are no hazards withing the 10M zone on 90% of the holes. So there is little challenge putting. Additionally, the area had not been mowed in a while (it is about ready to be cut for hay) and was a little difficult to walk through and to see your recent disc lies. One basket #16 was missing in action so you have to play on another pin to complete the hole.
Other Thoughts: Unless you live nearby, this course would not be a good day-trip destination. Fortunately, there are 2 other courses near by (within 10-15 miles) so there are other options when the maintenance crew has not been on top of the park up-keep.
