used to be a course but not a good one 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 8, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

-There are 4 baskets (2,5,7,9)
-Nice terrain with tight alleys and open fields, a small creek that could come into play on #6
-Nice, quiet neighborhood park. playground for kids

Cons:

-5 missing baskets (1,3,4,6,8)
-6 or 7 missing tee signs (1,3,4,5,8,9; maybe 6 too, can't remember)
-course feels like it is in people's backyards
-pedestrian trail that could (?) interfere with some holes (can't really tell since i couldn't find 1,3,4 or 5's tee)
-the rough is very rough, poison ivy, lots of thick brush to lose discs
-not frequently played so the tees are impossible to find without the signs

Other Thoughts:

After seeing the other reviews here, I was hoping to be able to at least find the tees and figure out approximately where to throw on each hole. This was too much to ask.

Even with many holes missing, it looks as if the original design was pretty lackluster to begin with. Hole 2 offers some retarded hole design.

The only hope for playing here is to make up your own tees and shoot to the remaining baskets. But don't waste your time, each of the other courses in town are worth checking out, especially the new Southern Oaks course.

It would be nice to either see the locals pour some love into this place or just take the baskets elsewhere and make better use of them.

Skip this one under normal conditions 2+ years

Pros:

Five baskets in the ground are double chain Innova Discatchers. The course has a good number of anhyzer shots which will force players to learn that (or a forehand) which is something they won't get at the other local nine hole (Wolf Pen Creek). Hole #2 is probably only 70' from tee to basket but with a tall grove of trees between forcing you around or over; the only real birdie attempt is by going over for another good learning hole. Tight fairways on most holes don't allow for many mistakes. Playground for kids nearby.

Cons:

Vandalism resulting in four missing baskets and six(?) missing tee signs are the nails in the coffin for this course. It's short to begin with, which isn't all that bad because there are some good shots as noted above. Several holes play along a jogging path which can result in pedestrian interference and some safety issues. This park never got enough play to get really marked in tee (dirt) tee pads so they can be hard to find without the signs. The off-fairway rough can be tough to get out of for a par save on errant throws. There's poison ivy off fairways as well.

Other Thoughts:

I played this course at a one-day tourney with temporary baskets filling in for the stolen baskets and flags marking the tee boxes, also a couple holes were changed to up the challenge a bit. Under normal conditions I can't recommend this course to anyone other than the residents living along the course and only then because it's so convenient to them. Do not go out of your way to play this course under normal conditions. If you get a chance to play one of the local tourneys with temp baskets and slightly modified holes it can be a worthy course... probably 2 to 2.5 star rating then.

Cons:

Four baskets are missing making the course not worth playing. Many of the original signs are also missing.

I was able to locate each original dirt tee pad and pin location and played the course without baskets and even if it had had baskets I would probably give it no more than a 1 disc rating for design reasons.

The entire course is basically in the unfenced back yards of a row of duplexes. Hole #2 is a super short, full 180 degree horseshoe shot that has you teeing off straight towards the back of a house. At one point a guy came out of his duplex and looked at us like we were on his property.

Since this course is rarely played the rough is super dense so if you miss the fairway you are very likely to lose discs.

Other Thoughts:

Just skip this course. The two best Courses in College Station (Research and Wolf Pen Creek) are within 3 miles of this one.
