Pros: 36 new tee pads. Updated tee signs with correct distances coming soon.
Cons: Need a park permit and can get a little windy.
Other Thoughts: This is a great course! The back tee pads play much longer and technical for those looking for a bigger challenge. The Steady Ed sanctioned tourney is usually held the first weekend of August with two additional temp holes added.

Pros: Multiple Tees
Concrete Tee Pads!!!(NEW)
fairways are kept mowed
Cons: 7 Miles out of town
Inside Downstream(need park sticker)
Some signs are inaccurate
Other Thoughts: I really like this course a lot. They have put in new sign/map for the A and B tees for each hole. Some of the maps are completely wrong though(hole 14+15 for sure).New Tee pads have been installed on both tees in the front 9, and the back 9 tee pads will be poured by end of April. Trimmed up back 9 holes quite a bit and made them much more enjoyable. They did hit one of the baskets during landscaping and it is a little bent.

Awesome and challenging!
Pros: -A course of good distance, no super short holes and one that is 572 feet
-A great mix of open and wooded holes, the open ones always have a few trees and the ever present SD wind to negotiate with
-Wooded holes are usually fair, they are not luck shots
-Baskets are Mach 3 and are great
-Pretty easy to follow layout
-Course is harder- meant for more advanced players
-Host of a few good tourneys per year including one this past weekend
-Adequate parking, bathrooms, garbage cans, water, etc
-Multiple pin locations, i assume they rotate them
-Scorecards and map available in office
-Course is maintained very well by the state, a pro of pay to play courses
-Some memorable holes for me: #2 a shorter toss over a small swampy area to a pin to the left. Two trees rise from the swampy area as a challenge. #7 572 feet with a left dogleg, barely managed to get a three with a lucky approach and good putt.
#11 huge dogleg left, impossible to ace, must be very patient with this hole
#12 one of the shorter holes with a hidden pin on the left side
#13 long with a tight fairway and punishment for leaving it
#16 pretty open but a tight grove of trees surround the hole
Cons: -No map, yardage, etc on tee signs (you do get a map with all this and scorecard at office)
-Can lose a disc in the tall prarie grass that lines most fairways
-Distances were probably not right on the scorecard given by the park office, just seemed a little off
-Tees are natural, not in bad shape but could be improved
-Just a little elevation.
-Could be a pro or con; this is a SD state rec area and costs 4 dollars per person or 6 dollars per vehicle or 28 dollars for a vehicle season pass.
Other Thoughts: This is no beginners course. Most holes present decent challenge to players of all levels. If they had signage and concrete tees this course would be a 4.5 for sure. Awesome course. There is only one other decent course for miles any direction so if you're here play it for sure. When the first reviewer played here it was a 9 holer and not as good so take that into consideration when looking at reviews.

Pros: Was changed from a mediocre 9 hole to an excellent 18 in the last year. Lots of different shots from open long to tight short. Alternate pins and tees for every hole. Can be confusing if its your first time playing it. Make sure to grab a map. Scorecards with distances and public pars. Bathroom, water and a "bait shop" within walking distance where you can grab a bite to eat, bug spray which you rarely need) or some sort of flavored drink. Hole 7 is close to 600 feet with a wide open fairway allowing you to give it all you got. Most of the holes give you a couple options while the others have one way to get there but is fairly forgiving if you miss.
Cons: The one and only problem I've ever had with this course is the tees. Some of the alternates aren't marked and even after playing it 20+ times I still have trouble remembering where they are. Some sort of permanent tee pad would improve this course immensely.

Pros: - Great views of Lake Oahe especially on the third hole. I played on a Friday morning and it was so peaceful and tranquil that I was almost afraid to talk to myself.
- Amenities like you'd expect at a park... nice restrooms and a water fountain along with plenty of benches.
- Two sets of tees means that you can easily get your money's worth.
- Great map and scorecard at beginning of course.
- A little more difficult than you'd expect, especially on the pro tees. There are a couple of holes that allow you to stretch out your arm and a couple more that force you to come out of trees.
Cons: - The sticker bushes are a huge pain. Pants are recommended along with paying close attention to where you sit your bag down. If you do manage to walk through the stickers just leave them alone until the end of your round or you'll wind up with a sore and possibly bloody throwing hand.
- Hole #9 was confusing. The map says to throw back towards the parking lot, but there's another basket in the opposite direction that could easily be the goal.
Other Thoughts: - Now that I think about it, I saw at least three or four extra baskets in a seemingly unused portion of the park that leads me to believe that there are some unmarked mystery holes here. I had a schedule to stick to so I didn't allow myself time to investigate.
- A beautiful park to spend the afternoon in, check it out if you're in the area and be sure to check out the nearby historical marker to learn about the area.
