Great place to practice

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 30, 2023 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

If you want to work on certain shots or practice your putting this is the place to come to, odds are you will have the course to yourself. When I first started playing 11ish years ago I was out here several times a week working on my game for numerous hours at a time and always had the place to myself. There is a really nice tree next to the tee pad for hole 4 if I remember correctly, where I would relax at and have a snack. There are 2 different baskets that you can throw to from that pad.

Cons:

Not a fun course to paly at all. It is one of the best spots to go to practice.

Other Thoughts:

The course still has the potential to be something nice if the time and funds were invested into it.

Such Potential for 18 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 11, 2021 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Good practice course for midrange and putting shots.
Despite the compact size, hole and tee placements tend to prevent cross traffic.
Only one hole plays in spiny weeds.
Long tee boxes, so you never run out of room. Tee boxes appear to be kept manicured.
Distance from other amenities means that there's little competition from other park goers for the space.
Great place for a first timer or new disc golfer.

Cons:

Every hole is under 200 feet. If you want distance practice, this course is not it.
Signs are all gone, but most baskets fortunately still have their numbers.
First hole is far from the main park. It's better to start from hole six if you're coming from the parking lot or park center. (Six is along the bike path/walkway if you go east from the skate park.)
Basket 3 is missing, but a lack of golfers on course means you can use hole 7 for both 3 and 7. That makes it the toughest hole on the course, because then you have to play through the trees that guard long shots on the 7th.

Other Thoughts:

There is so much potential here for a short front nine and a long back nine that plays along the drainage sluice. That would bring play into the weedy area, but if it can be better maintained, it's also an area that sees no traffic from other park goers and would have a water hazard or dry hazard (depending on the season) to increase the difficulty.
If starting from hole 6, park near the intersection of Jerry Litell Way and Pop Becker Street or Eskin Fish Way (you could also start at hole 5 parking here).
To start at hole 1, park in the neighborhood east of the park, specifically on the south part of Bombay Circle, next to the park. You could also park on Salizar Way right off Regency Park Circle at the end of the park. That puts you on the walkway to hole 9.
Don't park in the parking lot unless you want a walk or desire to park in the shade. There are also shade trees for parking along Jerry Litell Way between John Runge Street and Pop Becker Street. It's a little farther walk through the center of the park, but your car will feel a lot cooler when you're done.

This is as bad as it gets in disc golf... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 4, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

You can pick one of the random baskets to practice your putting on.
-Very green park with long, well manicured parkland grass.

Cons:

Everything. The entire thing makes absolutely no sense.
-There are 9 random concrete pads and 9 baskets all packed super close together. It's next to impossible to know which basket you're supposed to shoot at from which tee pad, the order of holes, layout, etc...
-No trees, so in the summer this park is blistering hot. It's like playing on the far of the sun.
-Even if you can figure out the layout and which tee box corresponds to its basket, all you'll have are 9 70-90 foot dead straight shots in the thick, green park grass. There is nothing else to it. No shot making, no trees, no challenges, no nothing. Nothing to look at, nothing interesting to see, NOTHING. It is as bad as it gets.

Other Thoughts:

Whose idea was this? What a ridiculous waste of tax payer money.

Seriously, this course is municipal governing at its worst. Just think, they could have used that money (the tee pads, the baskets, the signs (that are all empty), etc...) to put something decent up somewhere. But no, this is what we get when the slugs in our local government are involved. I'm sure the person responsible was immediately promoted for checking this great accomplishment off of their to do list.

Hopefully the thieves/vandals come back to steal all of the baskets and dig up all of the tee pads so that this embarrassment is permanently erased from existence.

Red course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 18, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

It's a really nice little course. The course is clean and kep up with nicely manicured lawns. Difficulty is targeted at beginners.

Cons:

The course is pretty boring. None of the holes are worth getting excited about. If you want a challenge this course isn't it.

Other Thoughts:

I don't know why everyone rated this course so poorly. The course is red level, that means it's supposed to be really easy. There is no need to rate it a 1 just because you can drive 300+ feet. At least you won't see any bums.

Field work for your approach shots or long putts 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 3, 2015 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

1) Nice short course for beginners.

2) Long teepads.

3) Teepads numbered (spray painted number in the forward, right corner).

4) Can finish in under 20 minutes.

5) Course has 9 baskets.

6) Course is far away from the main course, so interference from other park goers is minimal.

7) Hole 1 and 9 are close to one another.

Cons:

1) Only one sign, but it has nothing of importance on it except hole number.

2) Parking on the street is the only option if you want to be close to the course.

3) Very few obstacles to challenge golfers.

4) Hole 8 is not in the flow of the course. It lies off in the long vegetation.

5) Teepads are narrow.

Other Thoughts:

Park was easy to find but the course took a while to find. The course flows around one end of the park. It now has 9 baskets, but needs signage. Every time that I've played or practiced here, winds were blowing (north to south). Looks like the course could be improved due to the vast amounts of unused space at the park. Recommend parking near the the bend of Jerry Littel Way (close proximity to Hole 4 teepad), since Hole 1 is around the bend.

The Sacramento RT (#11) Bus stops about 2/3 mile from the course, around a 20+ minute walk.

Horrible 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 14, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

No real Pros. I suppose there was no traffic. OK if youre a beginner and just want to throw discs without worrying about losing a disc in a tree. Wife and kids can play on playground when you're out playing a round (if you can call it that)

Cons:

Scattered baskets with no direction on where to go next. In the middle of big grass park. Missing baskets and signs..

Other Thoughts:

None

This Used To Be My Below Average DGC! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 26, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

There must have been a course here a one time. I doubt if was a very good course even when all the signs and baskets were still standing as if seems like a very un-imaginitive design. The park is a large greenbelt surrounded by a housing development. The grass is some of the thickest and lushest I've seen anywhere. More on this lushness in the Cons section.
The baskets that were left were are in decent shape. The park has these large oversized concrete teepads. Way too much teepad for this course.

Cons:

Baskets 1,2 8 and 9 all are missing. The signs are gone for 1 and 2. Navigation is a nightmare.

The wonderful, lush, green grass was completely soaked at 10:30 AM. My feet were soaked on a 95 degree day. Doesn't California currently suffer from a water shortage?

Other Thoughts:

Now for the first bit of good news. That is, no-one has stolen any of these extra-long teepads yet. Wait, that's the only good news surrounding this sorry ass excuse for a course. Don't waste your time unless you're just a died in the wool course bagger, like myself.

Since the course is only about 60% intact, I'll give it a rating of about 60% of the 1.0 it otherwise deserves.

Cons:

way to open...jogging trail next to the course...waited for ppl to pass so as to not hit them.

Just really wasn't feeling like I was at a disc golf course...

My girlfriend (very new) even said it wasn't fun and or challenging...
with some work in landscaping I feel that it has potential...

Once was enough 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 20, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

If you live across the street and want to practice putting, this park might have a use. The grass is green..... haha

Cons:

Missing baskets, short holes. The layout is not well thought out. There are no obstacles.

Other Thoughts:

Not worth the 10 minute drive I took. There are other parks which offer a much better experience than this one. If I lived in the neighborhood I would practice short range shots (sans obstacles as there are none) and then go to a different course for real games.

For local practice or hardcore baggers only 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 14, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

It's there & somewhat resembles a small DG course. Zero DG traffic. Good enough teepads & baskets. Irony is that there is enough space for 18 holes, so with a little funding & a much better layout, this place could actually be decent.

Cons:

Baskets 1, 2, & 8 are missing. Flat, short, & minimal baby trees. Frustrating parking logistics. Signposts, yes, but rarely a sign to go along with it.

Other Thoughts:

My recommendation on where to park is at the end of Honor (left turn at park) in front of the nice gated house. Do not park in the parking lot unless you want to do much unnecessary walking.

plenty of parking and other amendities. short holes for the most part. great for a beginner

Cons:

Because of lack of use by disgolfers, baskets get removed by vandals and thieves alot. short holes and lines not conductive to experienced players. some areas of park have heavy non-discgolfer traffic

Other Thoughts:

we are working on a redesign to make this a 18 hole course. depending on the area givin for the redesign, this course can go from advanced intermediate course thru pro. we will keep you updated. hope to have the new design in by the end of may 2011

City park, with nice grass, concrete tee pads

Cons:

Other Thoughts:

Lame course. Looks like the city needed to throw in some baskets to add it to the list of things to do at the park. DO NOT go out of your way to play here. Not worth it.
