Whistler's Bend Pros: Whistler's Bend was phenomenal! Beautiful course, well maintained, and challenging shots. I have to say it's my favorite course I've ever played, and I was there is February. Would have given it a 5, but I have yet to play every course there is so I need to leave room for better courses out there.
Other Thoughts: If your debating on playing Whistlers just do it, no matter how far the drive is you won't regret playing this course.

Report this Review whistler's Pros: Beautiful course, solid terrain changes and shots for everyone. Challenging length and protected baskets on most holes. Surrounded by a river. Hole 14 "Top of the World" is fantastic, especially from the highest tee pad.
Other Thoughts: If you want to have a blast playin the annual Doubles tournament in June. Always a great time with a full course.

Destination Whistler's Bend 
Pros: The biggest attraction of Whistler's Bend in my opinion is the high variance in terrain and shots required off of the tee. Many of the early holes have well-defined, tight and sometimes twisting fairways that require accuracy, patience, and once in a while the ability to make a great save from a poor lie (or bad kick). Distance isn't the main challenge here as most holes can be reached with a well-thrown putter or midrange. The middle section of the course is moderately wooded with several clear 'no-no' areas and players largely rely on distance CONTROL to keep discs from overshooting the many large hills and dropoffs which pins are often perched on. To round out the cycle, the back section opens up allowing players the freedom to bomb with abandon. Instead of distance control, this section is mostly pure distance. There are many fewer obstacles on this section and when trees come into play, they are largely far enough down the drive's flight path that they cause little concern for bogey, rather they may prevent an otherwise good drive from reaching the putting circle. Distances on this back section seem a little off to create challenge for upper level pro players (see notes in the con section), but might serve to make excellent par four holes for amateur and below players. Most of the course in fact seems geared towards amateur and advanced players - the pro's will still enjoy many of the shots and the natural beauty of the course but may find it a little low on challenge after a few plays through.
Lots of folks mention the top of the world shot as the 'coolest' hole on the course but hole 13 actually has become one of my all-time favorite par three disc golf holes. At 303 feet in the longer position, the point-to-point distance is not all that far but an extremely steep uphill grade gives this hole at least ~400' of 'real' distance. HUGE arms can and do go over the top of the canopy of low-hanging trees to reach the putting green. Their loss though because the rest of us have the chance to throw one of the coolest roller shots in the game which lands before the low-ceiling of trees and muscles its way all the way up the hill to the pin! It certainly isn't an easy shot by any means but the layout of the hole is perfect to stun your friends with a sweet roller birdie here (and usually the tee box to test the wind on 14).

Cons: The finishing holes on this course are a bit disappointing. Sixteen and eighteen especially are at their very best, a bit boring, and at the worst (for players who throw 450'+) tweener holes which are very, very unlikely 2's but should never be more than a three unless a huge blunder is made. Sixteen especially at 500 or 535 feet and slightly uphill is the biggest culprit here. Even an average drive will put you in range for an easy, mostly wide open approach with a putter. Even great drives rarely achieve the putting circle because of the uphill trajectory needed thus setting up a perfect tweener situation. A pin situated another 100' or so back into the woods would likely turn this hole into something FANTASTIC, especially if multiple lanes are available for approaching through, but I know this is probably not possible at the moment. Eighteen has an almost identical problem with the pins ranging from 460-505 - although this hole is probably a bit more reachable for elite distance throwers, it is going to be a boring three for most of the rest of us average advanced and pro golfers.
Others have mentioned navigation issues, and while they are there, they aren't nearly as bad as folks make them seem. You will likely have to do a little bit of extra walking but you WILL be able to find all tees and all of the baskets with minimal extra effort. Tee signs and better directions would be a nice addition though.

Other Thoughts: As a lot of reviewers have mentioned, this park has everything you could want in an outdoorsy disc golf vacation. We first played this course on a disc golf/hiking big roadtrip loop from Seattle where we followed and camped at several places along the georgeous Umpqua River, popped down to nearby Crater Lake, did some hiking in Central Oregon's high desert areas, and of course hit up a bunch of courses (Whistler's, Willamette Pass, Dexter, Riverfront, Bend, Juniper Hills, etc.). Probably one of the best disc golf roadtrips I've went on to date. Summertime is perfect for this course with mainly hot(!), dry weather and cool nights. Camp out at Whistler's, play a morning (and afternoon round), take a dip in the river, fire up the BBQ at night - it really doesn't get much better than this!

Nice Signs Pros: haven't played here since '08 .... love the new tee signs and tee pads ...... real nice improvements ..... just so spectacular to play ... thanks to all who keep this jewel primed and ready to play
Cons: a little confused on 4 hole ..... sign doesn't reflect what's happening out there .... maybe a new google map would be approriate to show hole locations, something that can be printed and taken with you. I imagine because of the calibre of the course many come from around the world to play it and a new map may help those taking it on.

a little bit of everything
Pros: Whistler's Bend is a great course. It will challenge your arm as well as your moral.
There is great scenary and I could only imagine playing it in the summer time.
There is camping on site
Bathrooms and showers
Trash cans throughout the course.
Many different shots from doglegs left ad right to shots straight down and up hills.
A few shots have the placement pretty close to the river, giving it a great risk/reward factor.

Whistlers Bend Roseberg Oregon 
Pros: For disc golfers this place is hallowed ground. The scenery is great. It borders the beautiful N.fork of the Umpqua River which makes for a great dip after a hot summer round. There are on site restrooms with showers. There is on site camping. This is the only course that I have seen a great horned owl on,and up close. There are bald eagles and deer and who knows what else. It's a special place even before you put a disc in your hands. As you progress through the round you will find it to be the Field of Dreams. The tee pads are great. The tee signs are great.The elevation shots are fun. There are beautiful forested holes, some really long ones, a few ace opportunities, a spectacular Top of the World shot on #14, and #9 is a daredevil hole. You could try for an ace but a little too far and your in the river. It is a destination course and well worth the effort to get there. I've never seen many people here except for tournaments. It's nice to have great drinking water at the parking area. The variety of holes is very appealing as well.
Cons: It is too far from my house so I can't play it near as often as I like. There is no con about the course in my opinion.
Other Thoughts: If in Oregon, play this course.

It Ain't All That 
Pros: Scenic. Good mix of open bombs, short technical and long technical holes.

Cons: Only 5 (often inaccurate and misleading) tee signs. Safety issues on the long downhill bomb...I bet a lot of cars get wacked while driving by in the summertime. Poison oak,
Other Thoughts: This was a cool course. A good mix of hole design. Something for everyone. A few birdie opportunities for throwers to salivate over. Tons of roller holes. I love me some rollers.
The course is all over the place though. Piss-poor course flow has golfers hiking a ways to the next tee (sans tee sign).

Pros:
Established in 1991, Whistler's Bend is an 18 hole disc golf course nestled along the mountainside 30 minutes east from downtown Roseburg. With the Umpqua River located in the background of many of the holes, this course is stunning and makes for one truly unforgettable round. Throughout the entire round, wildlife can be seen, whether it be by land, water, or sky. Along with the wildlife, the remoteness of the course allows for thick vegetation in the backdrop as well as throughout the course, especially the front nine holes.
The first nine holes were tightly wooded, with elevation changes, narrow windows, and guarded pin placements. Much of the challenge on the front nine was based off accuracy, not power. As the Valkyrie Kid mentioned in his review, hole # 3 had one of the better pin placements on the entire course. It is not until hole nine where the course really opens up. However, due to the placement of the pin along the edge of the cliff, long drives will find themselves sinking to the bottom of the Umpqua River. It is quite a rush trying to park a hole that has such a high risk, high reward.
The back nine holes are much more open, with more extreme elevation, and larger windows. Because of this, errant drives don't get punished nearly as bad…nearly. Fortunately, clever pin placements add to the challenge, rewarding accurate approach shots and putts. As many others have stated, hole #14 or "Top of the World" is well worth the wait. It is quite beautiful, and allows you to get a complete view of the area. By the time hole 18 is finished, you are back to the parking lot and hole one.
The course is in great shape, with cement tee pads at every hole (some even have two) that are grippy and in good shape. A few could be longer, but for the most part they worked great. The baskets are all Mach III's, have the inner chains, and catch well. The holes have multiple pin placements, are well balanced (lefty vs. righty), fair, and provide plenty of challenge for all skill levels. Because the course is located right next to a campground, there are multiple restrooms, showers, and an area to fill up water. The camping spots give a wonderful view of the river, are spacious, and provide a bbq, garbage can, and fire pit.

I added Dexter and Adair to my trip, which made for quite the experience. Although it was quite a drive, it was well worth the trip!
NOTE: Whistler's Bend is located within 2 hours of Oregon's only National Park, Crater Lake. If you have the time I highly recommend it. It is truly breathtaking!

3 Days of Bliss
Pros: The top of the World is a simply amazing hole to play! The drive out to the park is beautiful, and the weather could not have been better 80 plus all 3 days. Challenging course with a good variety of shots. Campground is right next to the river so you hear the river all night. Glorious!
Cons: None really, other than the smell of the toilets when it get really hot.

Very Scenic
Pros: * Unbelievably beautiful views of the Umpqua river.
* The first 9 holes are very technical through trees while the back 9 offer huge, open, shots.
* Hole 14 is ludicrously fun! The Top of the World hole is definitely worth checking out!

Cons: * Signs were good up until 12, at which point you're supposed to walk a few hundred feet and cross a road to get to the next tee. After that the confusion was minimal.
