The Squeeze

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 2, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Well maintained park
- Course infrastructure in working order
- A couple of par 4 holes which is almost unheard of for courses under 18 holes
- Very nice stream that runs through the course that challenges you without losing discs
- Lots of golf squeezed into tight space
- Fun ace runs to be had

Cons:

- Strange layout has you walk back and for the first 5 holes
- Holes 3-5 are open and right on top of each other
- Not enough obstacles for my taste
- Layout is hard to follow without Udisc or a map
- Lots of other park users clogging up fairways and baskets
- Not enough punishment for bad throws
- Very small parking area and no bathrooms

Other Thoughts:

Overall a fun little introductory course or ace run place for locals and course baggers. Although there were a few par 4 holes they are on the shorter side and very birdie able. Worth a stop if you're close by.

Very Nice Surprise 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 16, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Course is in EXCELLENT condition. Perfectly manicured park grounds, large concrete tee pads, relatively new baskets and signs.
-Some very fun, unique, and creative hole designs. Not what I expected based on pictures of the course.
-Course is designed to bring the creek into play on many holes.
-Very beginner friendly. Easy park access (tucked into a suburban neighborhood), no punishing rough, the creek is shallow enough that discs can easily be retrieved if thrown in, and the hole lengths tend to skew a little on the short side. Even the two "long" holes that are 400'+ are labeled as Par 4's, giving newbies a confidence boost.
-Not busy with other disc golfers. Nice place to practice if you're a local.
-Decent variety of distances.

Cons:

-Holes 2-6 are a little bland. They will improve as the trees mature.
-Course plays a bit too easy for serious golfers. This can be remedied by playing all bike paths as OB, and playing Holes 2 & 4 as long Par 3's rather than short Par 4's, and playing Hole 8 as an island green.
-Only 12 holes.

Other Thoughts:

This is a really fun little course. I've seen plenty of these neighborhood multi-purpose park courses, and frankly disc golf is an afterthought on most of them. Not so here. And kudos to the designer for not putting in a bunch of filler holes to try and get it to a full 18. It's a really nice, quick round as is.

Nice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 6, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A nice, little challenge of a course for an older, beginner. Most of the holes require an accurate throw but are still reachable for par. Holes 2 and 4 offer the player a chance to throw a little farther.

Cons:

The park can be busy. There is a great climbing tree on the first hole that I've had to skip twice now. The kids just seem to love it. The last hole also seems to be a popular place for people to relax on.

Other Thoughts:

I'm not sure but it looks like there was a mando sign at the information board for hole number one. It is broken off now. It looked like the mando would have your throw going towards the parking lot. Not certain if I have the confidence in my throw to do that.
Otherwise, I try to find a little time to stop by here when in the area.

Good course with trees 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 15, 2017 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice set up on the course. Baskets are in great shape. Great signage on all tees. Concrete pads are really nice, little ruffed up so you don't slip if the pads are wet.

Like all the tees well parred for the distance.

Like the trees makes it a little harder course. Great tunnel shots with all the trees.

Great practice to work on your side arm throw.

Cons:

Wish it was an 18 hole course and not 12. You have to watch for people walking around remember it is a park for all people. There is some walking in between some holes in which I think that is ok, some people don't like that.

Other Thoughts:

Hardest holes are 1 and 9. 1 is guarded behind some big trees and 9 you have to throw big left to get over the creek or just lay up in the center.

Like I said signs are in great shape, but bring a map for you first time it helps.

Very good course with lots of trees.

I would like to give this course a 3.25.
Will play this course again.

Pros:

Well maintained grass park
A nice variety of shots
Nice Tee Boxes & Signs
Made good use of space

Cons:

Hard to follow without map
First 6 holes are spread out and jumpy

Other Thoughts:

This is a short course that makes good use of space and obstacles. Mandos and OB help make even the easier holes a problem if you shank your shot. Hole #1 and #10 are very tricky with lots of trees which I found fun as it makes you throw a perfect shot. The river can come into play but was low and slow enough that disc retrieval is easy.

Well Designed Wooded Stream Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 28, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Lots of tree trunks, the stream, and a few out of bounds areas make this course very interesting and fun.
Despite the thin area, this course is well-designed so that errant throws aren't lost, just penalized.
Absolutely gorgeous scenery and a well tended park.
Good maps and signage

Cons:

One out of bounds area is the parking lot for the park.
The trail is fairly busy with pedestrian traffic.
Some longer walks between holes.

Other Thoughts:

The good design of this course makes me wish that it were 18 holes instead of just 12, but there is only enough space for the 12.

Enjoyable Twelve Hole Course Gets Lots of Play! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 16, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Dry Creek Trail Park is a narrow little park which is tucked in between the road and house on the backside. The small creek runs the length of the park and helps provides some challenge and also the trees along it's banks provides shade on hot summer days.

The course has nice amenities. The concrete pads are textured and are shaped so that you always know which way the hole is. That is you're throwing towards the more narrow end of the pad. The Discatchers are in good shape and most have the hole number on top. The tee signs are really nice and clear with hole #, Par, distance and route to the hole. The pars here more or less based for middle school aged players. Either accept that and go for those Eagles or just play everything as a Par three.

The course begins in the middle of the park near the play area. Some fun little throws to be had here.
# 10 was a short little throw which crossed the creek.

Then # 11 playing from an elevated tee, has you throwing a little hyser to the basket down below. Then you finish with # 12 and follow the little trail and cross the rocks that lead over the creek. I wonder what these rocks would like in January? Actually, I was wondering what this creek would be like in the spring? Is there enough water then to actually be hazardous?

Cons:

There is a long walk between a couple of holes but I prefer that to having filler holes in between.

I think some of the holes have been slightly changed so the signs are not exactly right but the course is fairly small and easy to navigate, especially with the on-line map.

Other Thoughts:

As I was finishing my round, a group of eight was hurrying to finish before dark. Their group consisted of three adult men, a adult lady and four elementary girls. I thought, how cool, to see a group like that out enjoying themselves on one of our disc golf courses. That's what I like about Dry Creek Trail Course, it's a fun and challenging enough course for most of us recreational type players but yet this group of total novices can be out here playing and having a great time.

First round at Dry Creek Trail 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 18, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Good tee boxes, easy to find, brushed texture improves grip during throw. Tee pads narrow toward basket, so you always know which direction the hole is in.

-Clear signage with map of hole, length, and mandos.

-Mowed fairways.

-Most holes are good, long shots. Trees are present on all but 3 holes. Good for beginner or intermediate players.

-Good quality DisCatcher baskets, most are marked with the hole number.

-Bathrooms with drinking fountain adjacent to parking lot. (and the bathroom was really nice for a public park!) Also benches throughout the park.

Cons:

-Distance between basket and the next tee is quite long on one or two holes. After basket 5, you have to walk the entire distance of hole 2 to get to tee 6.

-Signs for holes 1-6 are correct, but 7-9 do not match the map. Hole 8 has hole 7's sign. No sign on hole 9. Tee 10 has hole 9's sign.

Just follow the map and you'll be fine.

Other Thoughts:

Fun, quick play course which is easy to get to from the freeway.

Park with a lot of shade on sunny days, and it is maintained very well. Nice creek running through the middle of the park.

Might want to jump in a tube and float through the park after a couple rounds!

Good Little Course 2+ years drive by

Pros:

The course is set in a park that runs along a stream and the trees are well established making for some good obstacles. It's twelve holes and has a good variety of shots.

Cons:

On a busy day some of the holes will be taken up with little kids playing in the area. It can make for a hard throw or just skip the hole.

Other Thoughts:

It's a fun course to play and it isn't far from the freeway making it a nice little stop along the way home or during a drive.

Lunchtime Pastime - Good variety 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 25, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great 9 hole course and lots of fun to play during a lunch hour! I play this one often during the week. Lots of trees to play through on many holes. Holes 2 and 4 offer an opportunity to reach out there with a longer drive. Hole 8 is fun as you strive for the right angle to go left over the creek and around the trees.

Cons:

Only concerns here would be the kids at the park on hole 1 and 6 during the summer. Otherwise a fun course.

Other Thoughts:

After many months of this course being closed down, it is now open again!!! If you have not played this course in a while, it's worth a visit. The course now features groomed grass on all holes with trees that are well maintained and a tree canopy that is in the process of being raised all throughout the course. Along with that, there are some new challenges with a lot of new trees that were planted on several holes (most notably on 2,6,7).

The Lehi city parks and recreation guys have put loads of time, effort and money into the improvements for this park. It looks great and is more fun to play than ever before! Also there is talk of getting a possible addition of 3 more holes come spring so stay tuned for more on that!

Quick little 9 hole with some shots near a little creek. Hole 8 is fun, plays over the creek. Hole two mounds of dirt are gone but what should be the fairway looks like it has taken a beating by some tractors.

Cons:

Hole 6 seems tough if people playing at the park.

Other Thoughts:

This seems like a small spot that has been well utilized to throw a 9-basket course in at. If you live anywhere nearby its worth stopping in at. Make sure to look course layout over as tee 3 is not visible from basket 2, same with tee 7 from basket 6.

Fun 9-Hole Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 21, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

It's a fun park with great surroundings. I love playing through the trees and getting a variety of shots that range from a simple flick across an open field to a forced layup on hole 8, (my personal nemesis hole).

The park is in much better condition than previous reviews indicate. The baskets are all there, including the putting one, and aside from a couple that look like the lawn mower smacked them, are in good condition and straight.

Cons:

Hole 2 has some dirt mounds in the middle of it. That is better than it was in the past when it was all june-grass, but can be a bit annoying.

Course seems to favor back-handed throwers, so most holes force you to throw right to left.

There is a lot of walking between some holes.

Other Thoughts:

The park isn't huge but could easily be redesigned to suit a full 18-hole course. There is a ton of wasted real estate around holes 3 and 4 and in between the long walks.

Overall this is one of the better courses in Northern Utah in my opinion.

Dry Creek Course Update 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Excellent tees and baskets (the ones that remain)
A few fun shots through/around trees and over the creek.
Not crowded
Practice basket available

Cons:

A little on the short side
Lacks turnover shots (rhbh)
Many baskets were either stollen or removed by the city

Other Thoughts:

This used to be a pretty fun little nine hole course that I would usually play after 18 at Art Dye. The baskets are missing now on holes 3,4,5,6, & 8. Sad. You can tee off from the #5 pad back to the #2 basket and play to the practice basket from certain locations to give you a few more holes if you're creative enough. It really is too bad the baskets are gone.

Pleasantly Surprised 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 16, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Signage is awesome, some of the best I've seen (except missing on #8)
Teepads are perfect
Great area for kids to wade in the creek and play at the playground
Nice to have a cartpath-good for stroller golf
Several fun holes
The creek is deep enough to punish the bad shot, but not deep enough to lose a disc in (at least in July). Why it's called Dry Creek is beyond me. Perhaps it's dry in September. There's a foot of water in it in July.
Lots of OB with a creek and a path on one side, a road on the other. The whole park is never wider than about 100 feet.
Good variety in hole lengths, especially for such a small park-got to drive putters, mids, fairway drivers, and distance drivers

Cons:

Only 9 holes (no room for more)
Hole 8 (See below)
Leaning baskets-seriously, how hard is it to put in sleeves straight. At least 7 holes were leaning over at least 15 degrees
Long walks between some holes-but better than putting in crappy holes-kudos to the designer for making that decision right.

Other Thoughts:

What is the deal with hole # 8? This is clearly SUPPOSED to be the signature hole. It is a LONG hyzer through a tunnel, then fading over a parallel running creek into a field of no kidding 4 foot tall grass. There is a 10 foot radius around the basket where the grass is kind of stamped down, and a single-track pathway through the grass to the basket. You have nearly ZERO chance of finding your disk without at least one spotter in place. If you are playing this course alone, LAY UP ON THIS HOLE. To make things worse, there have been large pieces of scrub oak cut down from somewhere and tossed into the tall grass, well within the 30 foot putting circle to a 5 foot height. They might as well have hidden boards with rusty nails under there for as much pain as I'm in after losing a disc there. I'm certainly not the only one either, I found two discs in there while looking (unsuccessfully I might add) for mine. Do not throw your disc out of sight on this hole and consider skipping it. (And if you find a yellow Elite Z Flick with my name on it, please call.) The fact that there is no sign on the hole should have been a warning to me to skip it.

If you lost a disc on that hole, PM me. I may have it.

And please, some locals, get out there with a weedwhacker and hack that stuff down, at least a 50 foot radius would be nice. It's nearly impossible to lose a disc on the rest of the course.

Dry Creek Trail 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 12, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Each tee has a concrete pad with a map and sign of information. It is a well-kept course with well-built holes. Never crowded.

Cons:

Only nine holes. The entire course is played along a fast-moving river, which could easily take your discs. Backyards do come into play on a few holes. There is a playground 100 ft past hole 6, that could be a problem if you overthrow (by 100 ft...) Entire course is narrow, which makes it difficult for beginners.

Other Thoughts:

This is a fun 9-hole course that can be viewed from I-15 in Lehi. It has multiple par-4 holes, so it is not terribly challenging. It has OBs and Mandos, which adds to the difficulty, but even so the course is fairly easy. I personally wouldn't make a road trip just to play this course, but if you're in the area playing Art Dye or any Provo courses, it's worth the 5 minute detour off of the freeway. It's a fun course, but it won't challenge you much.

Nice neighborhood course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 12, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Parking close to hole #1, Large textured concrete pads, new baskets, nice tee signs, kiosk with course layout, easy to navigate, never crowded(w/DG players), dog friendly, restrooms on-site.

Cons:

Walk between holes is longer than usual, small parking lot, path runs along course that is occupied by non DGr's, safety issues with hole#1 being next to a playground.

Other Thoughts:

This is a short nine hole course that is laid out on a narrow strip of land between a creek and houses on the other. There are plenty of next tee signs but if you have trouble just follow the path 1-4 and back down the path5-9, you can't go wrong. This trail/park gets lots of foot traffic who are unaware of the sport, be careful. The course layout offers some long and narrow drives, a couple of mandos, O.B., water hazards and short technical throws. Overall this is definitely not a must play course, but for the beginner, intermediate, local and family oriented DG'r you can't beat it.
There is lighting along the path and you can practice your putting after dark!

A little 9-hole gem 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 24, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Baskets- All in great shape
Pads- I really liked the tee pads here. It's that little scuff they give the cement to make it extra grippy.
Signs- Tee markers are very well done and there are plenty of "Next Tee" signs to help.
Parking-small lot and plenty of street parking, right by first tee

There are a a few holes (1, and 7-9 come to mind) that require some tricky technique to reach without getting into trouble.

Onsite potties (under construction and closed seasonally) will be a plus.

Cons:

A few of the holes (6, for example) are mostly wide open shots without much in the way of obstacles.

I can imagine if the park were a little busier than when I visited, you'd have frequent safety waits--due to tight quarters and the kids' playground.

Neighborhood on the west side of the park shouldn't come into play...but it's awfully close.

Course layout is a little tricky, but the onsite course map and abundance of tee signs and markers should be enough to drive away any confusion.

Other Thoughts:

This is a great little gem. Nine holes tucked between two neighborhoods in a little ravine.

Overall, this is a wonderful use of space and an example of how disc golf can be incorporated anywhere. Wish there was room for more than nine.

It wouldn't be challenging enough to play all of the time, but I'll definitely be back!
