Pros:

~Throw along beautiful Lake Erie
~Quaint park, very clean and accommodating
~Nice mix of holes
~Repeatable play

Cons:

~Natural tee areas are rutted and uneven
~Baskets are showing their age
~Some basic holes, remove the lake and there's no wow factor

Other Thoughts:

Visited to play in the yearly Blizzard at Oz Ice Bowl to have fun and help feed the hungry. A blustery winter day with a frosting of snow on the ground and some big winds blowing in from the lake. It's a quaint 9-holer with spectacular views of Lake Erie.

Nice park with a good parking lot, bathroom, and other amenities right near the course. A couple wooded holes, a couple along the lake's edge, and the rest play through mostly open field. Nothing to write home about, but it has it's own charm. You could easily roll up, throw multiple rounds, and have a good time.

The course is pretty basic, natural tee areas with wooden toe boards, signs and baskets are showing their age, but still function just fine. It's not a course that needs all the upgrades and I'm good with how it is. Worth a stop if you are in the area primarily because of playing right along Lake Erie.

Good group of golfers up here too, they know how to have fun!

Pros:

-lakefront holes with great views
-challenging for beginners because of the wind coming off the lake and the risk of going for a swim after a lost disc
-updated with new course

Cons:

-8th hole was hard to find. the tee marker from 7 points you in the right direction, but you actually come upon the basket and _then_ have to walk past it to find the 8 tee. then you work backwards
-can be crowded with parkgoers and kids sports teams. manageable to avoid, and only on a few holes is it really even that dangerous

Other Thoughts:

the photos of all of the holes on DGCR are out of date! it'd be nice if they could be updated (this is my first review so I am not quite sure if this is something I could do)

Literally On The Water! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 10, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ If you've a disc golf enthusiast that appreciates a good view, Osborne Park is the course to play! It's a short 9 holer but several holes play along the edge of Lake Erie. The views are incredible, but the course itself isn't too overwhelming.

+ Like I said, the course is right on the edge of Lake Erie. This provides some scary drives on holes 6-8.

+ A few holes make an effort to play in the small wooded area and make for a technical alternative to other holes on the course.

+ Great parking lot with other activities in the park.

Cons:

- #9 ends about 1000' from the parking lot, and it's a pretty sucky filler hole to end the round. About 550' in a wide open field with no obstacles. It's a long walk from 8 to 9, just to throw 500' if open field, and walk another 1000' back to the car.

- There's a couple lackluster holes like #9, with the basket being approachable with an approach disc off of the tee.

- So you can't really take a beginner here because of how close the lake is to a few holes. But it's kind of a boring place for advanced players to play as well. No challenge on any hole besides the lakeside ones. Not really a target audience.

- The ammentities are pretty rough. The tee signs are either old and rusting or completely missing. Tees are just dirt, and the baskets are pretty beat up.

- Like I said, the lakeside holes are pretty sweet for a first time visitor. But locals who are used to seeing the lake might not see any replay value in the short 9 holes.

Other Thoughts:

I was balancing back and forth between a 1.5 and a 2.0, so I'll give Osborne the benefit there. Most of the course is pretty short and easy, but the lakeside 6-8 give you a beautiful view of the lake, while providing some dangerous drives and tough approach shots.

For me, it's worth playing if you're around for the views alone. But once is enough, and after the "wow" factor of the scenery wears off, you're left with a course that's slightly below average.

It looks like the course might have been re-numbered recently, because the map I had was similar except for hole numbers.

Livin' the dream, man... 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 13, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Osborne Park is on the shores of Lake Erie. Like, right on Lake Erie. The pins for #5-#8 have epic views with Lake Erie right there. As a tourist who doesn't see a Great Lake very often, it was a really, really cool site for a course. The park was well maintained, the tee signs were functional old-school DGA signs and the navigation was pretty easy to follow after I found hole one. The shots have pretty good variety (five open, four with some trees.) It was a fun recreational course.

Cons:

The golf was OK. Hole #1 was wide open and really short. Holes #2-#5 had some woods that need to be negotiated. #2 was a nice tunnel shot and #4 was a fun little hole where you needed and little touch turnover shot to convert. Holes #6-#7-#8 are really cool because you are shooting right down the shore, but they are fairly similar shots with the pins just moving closer to the shore. #9 is a 500'+ flat open filler shot that kinda-sorta get you back toward the parking lot. None of them were great shots, but it fun.

The tees were natural and the leading edge were logs, which just dares you to trip.

There were a lot of people walking across the fairway for #7 & #8 down to the Lake while I was there. They either didn't know they were in the middle of a disc golf hole or didn't care.

Once I was in the parking lot, finding hole one was not all that obvious. Once you finish, you are a long walk from the parking lot. It seems that the course was already redesigned to improve those issues (the kiosk is by hole #4, so I assume that used to be hole #1) and the park had features up by the parking lot that made the design the best you could do with what you have to work with.

Other Thoughts:

Near the tee for #9 somebody built a beer garden in thier back yard. It had frolf stickers on the widows of the shed, so it was a golfer. Somebody is living right off a disc golf course with epic Lake Erie views with a beer garden right by the finishing hole. Livin' the dream, man...

As for the rating, I have to rate this park lower becasue while the golf was fun, it wasn't great. I didn't really care about that, the course had a great atmosphere and I really enjoyed it. If you play golf for the fun of it and like a unique feature like a Great Lake off your left shoulder, this is a course you really should visit if you are in the area. If you play golf for the competition and want a course that challenges you, this isn't going to be your golf course.

Cons:

Multi use park, still need concrete. potable restrooms needed in Winter.

Pros:

A nice little 9 hole course on the shore of Erie.

Wide variety of holes for a short course.

Tee signs mark the holes.

Cons:

Few of the holes are pretty wide open

SUPER long walk to the 1st tee and back to the parking lot after 9.

Other Thoughts:

Starts off with your normal looking hole with trouble on the right of the basket.

Then you have a few holes along the hill that the wind off the lake causes havoc with your discs.

Then a few more wide open holes getting you back to the little tree area with a few good holes taking you back towards the parking lot. (still a long walk)

Pros:

- Very attractive-looking course with almost-perfect green grass spans.
- Easy to run, nothing to trip you up
- Great views of Lake Erie
- Hole #8 is challenging
- Holes #3 & #4 provide the challenge of avoiding losing your disc in the lake
- Hole #2 is about the only hole with any real elevation differential (you have to land your disc midway up a hill)
- Hole #9 provides a little bit of tree challenge

Cons:

- Otherwise you're dealing with a number of straightaway shots
- Hole #9 ends far too close to the edge of a makeshift soccer field, used for little kids games and practice. Almost hit a woman when my disc bounced off a tree and went left
- I was about to move onto hole #3 when a handful of youth football coaches brought their team down the hill; they circled up and down the hill and ran through practice drills right across the fairway for #3. (I'm sure they would get upset were we to traipse around their football field during practice.) They didn't get it; I asked 'em to take it somewhere else next time, because it was inconsiderate and not safe for the kids. Some people are just stupid
- Too many groups with golf carts and such taking 15 minutes per hole or more

Other Thoughts:

Had the potential to be a nice course. Too many dumb people walking across the fairways into the path of discs, though.

Pros:

Nice Park.
Great Lake Erie views.
A few really nice holes.
I have a distinct advantage on holes 2,3, and 4 being a lefty.
Nice tee signage.

Cons:

Most holes are almost nothing but strait shots to the baskets.
It's a bit of a hike from the lot to the first hole.

Other Thoughts:

I feel like this course could have much more to offer. Little improvements like laying pavers for tee pads and planting/transplanting a few trees near the baskets would be inexpensive and easy ways to add to the fun factor of the course. However I don't think it is a bad course, just one that has potential be a better course.

a little breeze for you 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 28, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Plenty of parking
- Very nice water park with slides, pavilions, playground, swings, basketball, soccer, tennis, baseball and football fields
- Entrance is marked by the park sign
- Natural Tees are in decent shape but Tee #2 can collect water when the waves breaking inland
- Very nice Tee Signs
- Baskets are in good condition and well labeled
- The upkeep seems decent. The grass was well cut and the weeds were cut in the wooded area.
- Even though there is a beautiful view of Lake Erie, the landscape and scenery is otherwise boring and flat
- Lake Erie provides a fun obstacle for Holes #2, 3 & 4, especially on a windy day!
- Low traffic by both disc golfers and locals
- Trash cans located at parking area. The course is very clean.
- There's a bench to take a break overlooking the lake

Cons:

- There is a kiosk back by the disc golf course which is a long walk from the parking area toward the water but there is nothing at the parking area telling you where to go from there to find the course
- No map provided. It would be handy not only in navigating the course for the first time but simply finding the course.
- A little too open and bland. You get to throw some long bombs and test your distance discs in the wind but this course has to many plain wide open shots with nothing in between you and the basket but a breeze.

Other Thoughts:

- The flow is neither a Pro nor a Con. The actual course does flow pretty good but Hole # is so far from the parking area and Hole #9 ends hundreds of feet from Hole #1 making you have to walk back toward #9's Tee to play another round.
- The course has 5 holes that are over 300', one of which is currently listed as 410', so the overall distance for this course at 2767' is decent, but I wouldn't put it as a Pro.
- Excellent place to practice your windy putts and drives. The wind off the Lake is very strong and knowing how to throw in it is no small thing.
- Holes #3 & 4 are difficult because they are along the lake and on a windy day there is the risk of a shanked drive taking a dip. But the most challenging hole is Hole #8. Very short, only 196' but there is a sharp turn to the right in the small wooded area.
- Good place to bring a beginner as long as it's not windy.
- I guess Hole #4 is my favorite. /meh
- This is not a destination course to travel too but I'm glad that I got to see it. It is a fun course to hit but if I'm in the area again I will just hit Sims. I would consider hitting this course again if I bring my family for the lake view, a round of golf, and maybe lunch and water slides.

Playing Disc on the coast of Lake Erie 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 16, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Holes 3 & 4 are really scenic and very unique. Decent distance on most of the holes, allows you to open up with your driver. Occasionally, the holes have elevation changes. Park is really nice, with lots of parking, playground, and city pool.

Cons:

Very open. Most holes have unabated shots from the tee box. I'm not the biggest fan of courses that consist of mainly baskets in an open field. It's not the most difficult course ever; I played poorly the day I played it.

Other Thoughts:

The course wasn't bad. I'd rather play 18 than 9, but I actually liked it better than Sims Park. I probably wouldn't make a special trip up to it again, but if I was in the area, I would play it. Holes 3 & 4 on Lake Erie are cool and are the signature holes of the course. Having those memorable holes help boost its rating.

Decent 9 Hole with a Good Birdie Opportunity 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 20, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

There's a decent amount of variety crammed into nine holes while still challenging enough to keep most interested. Hole Two is on a hillside, making placement on your first or second shot paramount, as anything that rolls will likely leave you quite a few feet down hill. Three and Four skirt the lake, making for a nice setting on those two drives. If you're a lefty, the Eighth will most likely afford you an easy birdie shot every time (I played through 24 and hit a birdie every time on Eight). Eight and Nine are also fairly wooded, making for a nice change of pace in this mostly open course.

Cons:

The natural tees don't bode well with the silt and sand like ground that makes up the majority of the course. I slipped slightly a few times on the run-up to the tee, causing my drive to deviate more left or right than I would've liked. A couple of the tees and fairways come somewhat close to benches and pedestrian through-ways, especially between holes 3-6.

Other Thoughts:

There's definitely room to do more with this course! Watch especially on holes Three and Four. Too far left, and you're disc is going in Ohio's largest drink! The break walls afford very little chance of you retrieving a disc once it goes in. I unfortunately experienced this first hand on Four when I thought it would be a good idea to experiment with a new throwing style...Bye bye Champion Beast!

Great for beginners 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 7, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Gorgeous scenery right on Lake Erie
Very forgiving course for beginners
Good mix of wooded and open holes
In a well maintained park
The areas where your disc might get lost are already well trampled from like - minded disc golfers
Plenty of butterflies, lots of natural beauty
Plenty of flowers
I got my first par shot here!

Cons:

Large break wall prevents most easy access to Lake Erie. If your disc lands in the lake, you might as well forget it!
Some of the holes are little more than unobstructed straightaways.
One of the tees has a root growing in it, you're better off using the grass next to it.
Two of the holes are extremely close to a football field and a baseball field, so if you're playing during game days you may have to be extra cautious on your shots
Locals seem to consider most of the course a bike lane / dog walking area. Be wary of people oblivious to your playing!
Plenty of flowers = plenty of bees and wasps, watch out!

Other Thoughts:

One of my favorites in the Cleveland area. Very scenic park with a decent course. Watch holes 3 & 4 as you're playing right near Lake Erie. Hole 4's fairway is very tight, with the lake on the left, and a hill with neck high grass on the right. Definately intend to play this course again.

Nice place to practice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 21, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course was a fun place to play. Playing right next to the lake was very pretty and used the space interestingly. Holes 8 and 9 played through woods and were the more challenging holes but not overly difficult.

We played on a weekday so there were only 2 other players on the course.

It would be a good beginners course and a change of pace maybe for other players.

Cons:

Bit of a walk to the first tee, but not a big deal really...easy enough to find. Could use more trees in the open areas, but it's a multi-use park so I get that.

Other Thoughts:

Overall a good practice course with nice scenery.

Holes 5, 6, and 7 were wide open shots across the park which were a little boring but at least gave a different feel than 2, 3, and 4 which play across the lake front and the wooded 8 and 9.

Just played it on a day with a strong wind from the NE (coming off the lake) and boy did it effect game play across the entire course! Might not be worth it unless you want the challenge.

We played this course, Cuyahoga County Airport, and Sims Park in one day, so it was nice to have that many courses close together enough to do so.

Better Than Expected 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 17, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Biggest pro is that this is one of three courses within quick distance from where I live. The others being Sims (which is top notch - if you're in the area you must check it out) and by the airport which is...well...not the greatest course.

Most of the holes are wide open, a few by the lake, two through the woods, but the rest are just through the main park field.

A lot better than expected after reading the reviews.

Great new baskets.

Cons:

They probably could have fit a few more holes here, but that might have just muddled things up and added more open shots.

No tee pads.

Would be better if there were more trees in the main field to offer up a better mix of shots.

Biggest problem is that if you're trying to teach someone how to play (which I was) and their shots fade to the far left like most newbies, there is a good chance that they (or you) will be diving into Lake Erie to retrieve their disc.

Other Thoughts:

Better than advertised, but if you're in the area it's worth your while to play. Better to play it twice through.

Not so difficult to find the first hole as others have suggested. You just walk past the soccer fields and look for the very large wooden Osborne Park Disc Golf sign. Hole one is right next to it.

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Has a great view of the lake. Nice to start building the disc community by cleveland and decent to wet someone's palette. It does have a football field where you can practice if no one is on it.

Cons:

Hard to find the first hole. Once you park you have to walk across hole 7s basket to get there. Hole 1 is 420 open. 2-4 are decent but could be alot better, they are on the side of a hill that meets lake erie. 5-7 are 300+ and fairly plain. 8 is short tight and boring. 9 is good but plays by a baseball diamond so cant really play it risky.

Other Thoughts:

Layout is my biggest problem, not that is has a bad one, more that it had potential for some awesome shots. I live 10 mins away and go there only for field practice. Suggest to hit it up just to say you played it then dont come back, if anything.

Nice little course on the Lake Erie shore. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 28, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good number of holes right on the shore of Lake Erie, beautiful scenery. Brand new course as of 2008.

Muti-use park, but the disc golf course is for the most part on it's own. Tee signs have basic hole maps. Clean, maintained park.

Relatively short drive off the freeway exit.

Cons:

Not much in the way of challenges either technical or distance. Dirt tees.

Other Thoughts:

A nice little 9-hole course, great for a casual game or casual players. As of this review the tees are just dirt patches, but the course is brand new so all the equipment is new. DGA baskets.

Holes 1 through 4 are all right next to the Lake Erie shore, so the scenery is nice and the lake breeze adds a unique challenge component to those holes.

Where possible, trees are used as obstacles, but overall a pretty open-field course. Holes 8 & 9 are through a wooded area of the park; hole 8 has a right-dogleg and hole 9 demands a bit of accuracy.

Overall a pretty decent mix of holes for a 9-hole course. Nothing too challenging in the way of technical shots or distance holes, but overall a decent casual course. Very much beginner-friendly. If I lived in the area I could see playing this one a lot more, especially for a quick, casual 9-hole round.

No crossing fairways, and hole 9 leads you back to the parking lot.

Out-of-bounds brush was not dense and I didn't see any poison ivy, some prickly weeds here and there but easily avoided.

There's a bit of a walk from the parking lot to get to the course, but the trade-off is that this allows relative seclusion in this multi-use park, and also the nice lake view mentioned above.

Locals were friendly. Park crowd was low on a beautiful Sunday at 5PM. No one else throwing discs while we were there.

Lots of other park activities for non-disc golfers, including swings/playground, soccer/football fields and a pool with waterslides. Restrooms as well. No concession stand.
