Yikes! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Beautiful Park
- Large mature trees give shade and challenge
- Concrete tees
- Informative tee signs
- Nice mix of short and long holes
- Creek comes into play on hole two
- Nice tri-fold course maps with scorecard

Cons:

- Safety is a BIG concern here!
- Played a safari route far around the skate park for safety
- Did not play 9 due to safety concerns
- Hole 8 drives towards 9's tee.

Other Thoughts:

I've avoided this course because of the reviews below saying it shouldn't be here. I finally stopped by today to see for myself.

At first I thought people were over-reacting, but soon it was clear that this place has some serious safety flaws. The biggest being the skatepark. I uploaded a new picture to give a better idea of the problem.

I rated this course based just on the course itself, and did not factor in the safety concerns. Otherwise it would have been a half or a one.

This park is really nice and I'm sure it attracts a lot of vistors. I played early afternoon on a Thursday and it was busy.

This course will one day hurt someone. I hope I'm wrong, but honestly I don't see how it hasn't already happened. If you play, play safe!

Shouldn’t be there 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 26, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice park. But it's a family park.

Very short course, many 1's possible. If no one is doing park activities between tee and basket.

Cons:

There should not be a disc golf course here. Children have the right to play at a community park without being in danger.

Hole crossover is dangerous. Hole 9's tee is in inline with 8's tee. There were only 5 people playing when I was there and I almost got hit by a decent drive from 8. It's simply poorly placed for no reason and wind pushed the drive onto the tee. Stupid design.

Even if the skatepark is removed, this is still a community park in an area that needs them. The course should not have been built there.

Nice park course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 18, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Tee #1 right by parking lot, fairly easy to follow course (sign indicating 3 tee box across bridge was helpful)
Good tee pads, signs, and baskets
Challenging mix of shots

Cons:

Could be an issue with park traffic on the weekends

Other Thoughts:

I thought the space was used well. Maybe a little forced, but a cool local course for Brighton

2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 2, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

- quick play course with easy parking right next to hole 1
- good concrete tee pads
- decent baskets with hole numbers
- as far as 9 holes go, this one is actually pretty challenging, several holes are over 300 feet and there are enough trees in the park to make for some obstacles
- tee signs gave you all the info you need
- navigation of the course is relatively easy
- some interesting baskets placements

Cons:

- all though I played the course on a weekday morning, I could see how on the weekends and afternoons this park could get busy and end up being an issue.
- some of the fairways and baskets are some what close together making things confusing and dangerous
- there was also quite a bit of garbage and more than 1 random condom of the ground.

Other Thoughts:

This course definitely was a bit of a challenge compared to what I was expecting. Most of the other 9 holes in the area are mostly putter courses. This one will actually make you use most of you bag.

Should not be here in this multiuse park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 12, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

If you want a quick round in the middle of Brighton, there is a course here.
Baskets are newer Chainstars.
Decent tee signs (the ones that aren't torn, faded, etc)
Plenty of playground area for kids to play while you get a round in.
No poisonous or dangerous plants that I saw.

Cons:

Multiuse park area should have NEVER been developed as a course. Holes play over and very near walking paths, skateparks, soccer fields, playgrounds, etc. Prime example of forcing too much into an area and asking for trouble and conflicts.
Tee signs are often faded, torn, etc. And with the proximity of holes to one another, open spaces, tee sign post orientation relative to the tee, it is sometimes unclear at first exactly which basket to throw to.
Concrete tees are a weird size (5' wide, maybe 8' long) especially considering some of the longer holes on the course.
Proximity of holes to one another create a potential for errant shots to overlap, especially holes 2-3-4.

Other Thoughts:

Just take a look at the pictures. This course is CRAMMED into a tiny multiuse park in the middle of a residential neighborhood.
I cant even say "'A' for effort" because IMO the use of qualified course designers should become more widely used, and course designers should have the gusto to say no to developing courses like this at this type of park.
Baskets, concrete, and signs for 9 holes probably ran a minimum of $5000-6000. Rather than forcing in more courses, money could be used to install multiple tees and multiple baskets at other local courses to achieve a wide variety of appropriate skill-based design layouts.
Considering 9 holes, lackluster terrain, overcrowded area, this is definitely a passable course.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 17, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Very well kept park.
-Trees, water hazards and a skate park provide many obstacles to make some holes more of a challenge.
-Concrete tee pads.
-Well marked with signs.
-Free score cards / maps on location.
- 9 holes making it great for a quick round or two. (Also a con)

Cons:

-The park is very busy on weekends and people picnic right next to baskets or on the fairway.
- Not much elevation change / fairly flat.
- Only 9 holes makes for very short rounds and leaves me wanting more.

Other Thoughts:

This course is my home course being only a few minutes from my front door. It's a great very well kept park with plenty of trees and a lot of shade for these hot summer days. The trees and a little creek running along the east side (holes 2,3 and even 4 if you have an arm and get too far right) provide just enough challenge for more skilled players while not being too much for a beginner. There are also a couple good ace runs here that players of all skill levels can hit with a perfect throw. The course is well designed and easy to navigate around the outside of the park with almost no backtracking to get to the next tee except for the last hole that ends in the middle of the park.

The only bad things about this course are the fact it's so short with only 9 holes and the fact it's a very busy multi use park. I've had to skip multiple holes on weekends due to people setting up right on the fairway or even next to the basket. Still, I try to make it there as much as I can on week days as its a very fun, very clean and we'll kept park.

A fun round of 9 holes 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 15, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

- pretty solid course layout
- concrete tees
- this course has signage, wayfinding, and free course maps!
- easy to medium course difficulty

Cons:

- only 9 holes fit onsite here
- avoid peak park hours - this park can get very busy with lots of activities/people around
- there's a par 2 hole, which I always think is stupid

Other Thoughts:

I'll start by saying that I love a good manicured park course, nothing against the good old Colorado native courses, but park courses are my favorite. Most of the holes are intelligently designed with average difficulty and different strategies/approaches in mind, however with one or two holes you risk losing a disk due to water and private property fence hazards, and I personally think the holes play a little too close too them, but as long as you are smart with your shot, you should be fine. The course is only 9 holes so it's tough to decide whether to penalize a course for that or not - I would summarize by saying that it does make use of the park land that is available and only 9 holes fit comfortably here so it does makes sense. Overall, I had a good time playing here and worth a visit - just try to avoid peak park hours as kids soccer/baseball/skateboard/badmitton/bocce/ practice is everywhere as well as dog walking through the course, people taking naps on the course, etc. - your typical park activities so just take note of that possibility.

All grass with cement tees (I prefer cement) and decent signage. Baskets are in great condition. Has a variety distances with some water in play on holes 2-3. Nice park.

Cons:

Park has a lot of activity besides disc golf at times weekends can get very busy and sometimes picnickers will be in the way... not a huge problem. It is only a 9 hole course.

Other Thoughts:

Has some big trees that can come into play, has a practice basket and is a nice park.

Fun, short, park course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 29, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I used to play this course a lot and it is fun! Not much elevation but good length variety. Placement among trees is brilliant and makes it challenging, even on the short holes. Good park for families and pets. One of the better 9 holes in the metro area.

Cons:

No elevation changes. A lot of park visitors and school kids, so make sure shot paths are clear before you throw. Wish it would expand down the creek to get to 15 or 18. Only two holes with length enough to air out.

Other Thoughts:

Fun 9 hole for quick plays or going out with the family. Novice friendly, but also has some challenging lines for more advanced players. Watch out for park visitors, though. They can get in the way and are not what I would call friendly. BE CAREFUL if school is in session.

Pros:

Nice longer tees than other courses in the area. Go early in the morning (before 11) to avoid crowds. Course layout easy to follow, with nice variety of open and obstacle areas. Cement tees and well groomed park.

Cons:

By skate park where no skateboarders can actually do anything.

Other Thoughts:

Potential water hazard on two of your shots. This isn't really a problem at all as you have plenty of room/air-space to avoid water.

Solid 9er 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 10, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice concrete pads of an adequate size for this length of course
+Probably won't lose a disc here unless you find the ditch when there's water in it. There still is chance for retrieval if it goes in.
+Practice basket.
+Pretty decent shot variation here for a city park. Nothing is too long or too short but all the holes felt a little different. There were some trees that forced shots and the trees were often close to basket or tee.
+Decent signage on every hole. Plenty easy to find your way around. Signs included course diagram, distance, hole #.
+Some ace runs opps here.
+Clean and well maintained
+Intermediate level course that won't be too hard for a beginner or too boring for a better player.

Cons:

-Definitely some conflicts with other park users. Nothing too dangerous but a wild shot could hit a non-disc golfer.
-Course doesn't quite loop back to start. Other reviewers have mentioned playing back to practice basket and that gets you pretty close and adds a hole.
-Probably could be pretty busy as it is a fun course and there's not any better courses too close.
-Could be windy as this course is kind of on the edge of the prairie.

Other Thoughts:

-This is one of those park courses that I can't really think of a lot of cons but at the same time, it is hard to give it any more than that 2.5-3 rating.
-This is a solid park style course. It had a decent fun factor for me with some trees and some ace runs.
-This course is worth a stop if you are in the area. It won't be super challenging but could provide a bit of fun. It won't waste a lot of your day if you don't enjoy yourself for some reason.

Shady.....in a good way 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 10, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Mature trees help keep you cool. The right amount of distance for a beginner arm, not too short.....not too long. Just the right amount of trees in play to keep it interesting, but not impossible. A great intermediate course IMO.

Cons:

Home course for the group i played with, and they kicked my butt. Only nine, but we played the practice basket from 9 basket . ( brings you back to #1 tee) and played again for twenty holes total. Feels a little cramped with other park people doing some BBQ and soccer. (But they were friendly and cheered you on ). Tee pads seemed shorter than usual?( Fell off the end a few times)

Other Thoughts:

The ditch wasn't a big issue, but always a possibility on a few holes. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

Fun around-the-park course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 20, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice shade, mature trees, cozy park.

Nice locals and family friendly vibe.

The ditch is a good hazard, without being inevitable, like at Interlocken.

Cons:

Short.

I don't get out this way much, so I probably won't drop by, even though I want to. Probably not enough of a deal for me to make a special trip.

FOr some reason the nicely manicured lawns ATE my discs, and I spent an unusual amount of time locating them (of course, I was chucking 3-4 discs per hole, in my usual fashion.

Other Thoughts:

I continue to be pleasantly surprised at how many mature parks there are in this area.

Parks like this encourage people to get out, and discover the sport. Very enjoyable.

Pros:

As a rule I avoid short courses. This course is an exception though. Has some really fun shots plays literally around the park. Kids in the half pipe become potential hazards (yes I put that as a pro) I love this course for accurate shot training. The unique setup of shots on a short terrain means I don't have to put my arm completely behind a wild shot. Great place to teach beginners or if you have kids they can follow you around the course easily our be left at one of the parks you're never far from.

Cons:

People. To many people. Two parks, soccer field, basket ball court, skate park, and picnic areas means traffic can get heavy. Not much chance to use your driver. You need it on a couple but mostly a mid range will suffice.

Not bad for what it is. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 18, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

--Good use of available land
--Nice to see a well taken-care of park in a very small town
--Very friendly and welcoming to tournaments
--Great map at the start of the course, with scorecards and maps available

Cons:

---Super short holes. Many ace runs, but very low challenge
--Strange teepads. They are square, rather than rectangular, and very short (not a problem with these short holes)
--Park sees a lot of use from non disc golfers, and they get very upset when a disc lands near them...try to be curteous and don't throw over the skatepark!

Other Thoughts:

The locals here have put in a ton of work to make this course happen, and it desrves respect for that alone. It's off the beaten path, so aside from tourneys most non-locals won't hit this spot up, which keeps it in pretty good shape.

Not a destenation course, but I had fun playing it for sure.

Another Little Denver Area City Park 9 Holer! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 18, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a lovely little green, well maintained city park. The course's biggest problem as I see it are the other park users and their oblivious nature in reference to disc golf. Because the park gets so much use, disc golfers have to use the utmost courtesy in dealing with these many park patrons. The green grassy nature of the park makes for a wonderful venue for rollers. Rollers can also eliminate the safety issue on a number of holes. The concrete pads could be longer. There are great tee signs with the distance on each hole. TheDGA baskets have the numbers on top.
# 6 presents a real safety hazard with your tee shot flying directly over a skate punk park only about 125' ahead. A low hard drive could easily drill some kid and cause some hard feelings. Hopefully, if you do hit a skater, hit one with a helmet!

Cons:

I'm never a fan of par 2's even very short ones like # 7s 125'. # 6 over the skaters is a saftey issue. There could be issues with discs landing over some neighbors fences and the ever-present problem with all the park users.

Other Thoughts:

This is such a lovely, little park. The disc golfers must co-exist in harmony with the rest of the park users. That means waiting for people/walkers/joggers to clear out of your way or perhaps occasionally skipping a hole all together or maybe teeing from an alternative position. This is a nice little course. Keeping it here means getting along with the general public. Work with them. Remember, it's their park too!

Nice course, crowded park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 1, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Concrete tee pads at every hole, with clear signage.
- A practice basket is posted at the beginning of the course.
- A keosk at the course start has maps, but the course flows well, and navigation is not an issue.
- A stream comes into play on hole 2, adding a touch of risk.
- A decent mix of hole lengths, with quite a few 400' holes, and holes holes 5-7 being ace runs.
- There are Porta-potties between holes 1 and 2.
- Easy to play a quick round, taking about a half an hour to go through the course.
- Despite the cons, it is a really fun course, but...

Cons:

- This course is in a crowded, well used park. There were children everywhere, and dog-walkers regularly wandering the fairways.
- Hole 5 is a short downhill ace-run, but there is a playground full of children right behind the basket. Scary.
- Hole 6 forces you to throw a hyzer directly over a well used skate-park. Not a hard throw, but a grip lock could be awful.
- The tee pads are a touch on the short side, and the signs are on the back left corner of the pads themselves.

Other Thoughts:

I really knew nothing about this course, but played it just to check it off the list. That said, it was a really fun few rounds. The course itself has very nice amenities, but the multiple playgrounds, skate parks, etc. just make it a bit nerve racking.
All things considered, I'm glad I played it, and will return to do so again. This is an overlooked course in the Denver area that really only has one glaring con, A little patience at the tees, and you'll have a great round.

This and That 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 31, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

If you're looking for an up-kept 9-hole disc golf course in a clean and orderly residential park that ranks above average, you'll find it at Benedict Park. The course essentially circumvents the park, which is a good thing for us disc golfers. In the middle of the park, you will occasionally find youth football and soccer practices taking place (weekdays around 5 PM), not to mention the kids crashing around on the small skate park in the northwest corner. The challenges on this course consist mostly of navigating through and around tree trunks and branches, save the wide, swift creek flows along the right side of the fairway on hole #2 and the skate park nearly in front of the tee on hole #6. Imagine throwing your disc over inexperienced airborne preteens at their neighborhood skate park. There are some technical throws required, especially on the low "tunnels" of trees at holes #1 and #5. Pin #9 is cleverly placed behind a tight, dark cluster of pruned trees.

Cons:

Brighton isn't exactly close to much else on the map (but to its credit, it isn't too awfully far from major civilization, either). The heavy use of the park's interior can be distracting. Wind can be a factor, as the park is essentially atop a hill. The creek is too deep and swift to find a lost disc.

Other Thoughts:

This is your average 9-hole disc golf course at a park. It will challenge you in surprising ways, but also won't turn away entry level players. It is by no means a place to be impressed, but it also will not disappoint.

Quality if you live nearby 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 30, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a very well maintained park with loads of signage. This is a park where they clearly did a good job of making a course with what they had already there... which was not much space. Most shots are the same general length of around 300 feet... a few longer and a few shorter. This is a great place for locals considering there is not another course for quite some time. All holes have signs as well as concrete tee pads. Hole 1 starts out with a nice fairway between a few large trees. Hole 2 brings a river partially into play if you hook right at all. Hole 3 comes back over a river, in between a picnic area and soccer field that are often full of parkgoers and little children. This is not ideal, and if a disc gets away it is certainly possible to hit somebody. Hole 4 is a long straight bomb. Hole 5 is the most fun and creative hole on the course. It requires a low yet floating straight shot with a slight left hook at the end to access the basket amongst a few trees. Hole 6 and 7 and 8 are straight shots. Hole 9 requires a bit of skill in the fact that there are many trees surrounding the pin... but plenty of paths to access it.

This is a fun course that can be played fairly quickly (30 minutes or so). They did a good job incorporating what trees they already had into the course. It is great for locals, but not much of a destination.

Cons:

Considering this was already a park before it was a disc course, they did not have much to work with. There are people everywhere who are OBLIVIOUS to the fact that the park is a disc course. From the 4 groups I had to inform that I was throwing, none of them had even heard of disc golf. This just tells me that a park full of people, all of which are clueless to disc golf, is never a good thing for those throwing the discs. The course manages to squeeze into some pretty tight spots next to a picnic area as well as a soccer field where many teams play. There is even a point where you have to throw over an active skate park! The course also lacks greatly in creativity. While they did the best with what they have, most shots are straight and open... lacking much creativity. They are also mostly the same length (there is one 400+ ft hole). The course truly only requires one, or possibly two different styles of throw. This place is also susceptible to wind.

Other Thoughts:

Hole 5 was the only thing that made this course unique in any aspect. It was a typical public park course with minimal thought and loads of straight, open shots.
