Pros: Grieenbrier DGC is an above average mountain course with some good variety and fantastic scenery.

I didn't really know what to expect coming here as a short stop on a road trip to DC from Chicago, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location of the course offers some great seclusion and impressive views of the nearby mountains.

The course incorporates a lot of elevation and more and more tree cover as you move into the back 9. It's a challenging play throughout, but most skill levels should be able to score well assuming you can drive accurately in the 250' range.

The baskets were all in good condition, there's a practice basket and a large sign with the layout and score cards right off the main road.
Cons: I played here in February when there was still snow on the ground so some of the tee boxes were hard to find. Signs help with that, BUT the tee boxes were all natural and throwing from sloped snowy tee boxes, especially on some of the downhill shots, was straight up dangerous.

The hill that's used for most of the elevation change on the front 9 is pretty steep. Definitely wear boots if there's snow or wet conditions.
Other Thoughts: This course is right off the interstate and definitely worth the stop if you're driving through WV. The elevation and scenery make this course a really enjoyable place to play a round. I didn't get to do a lot of exploring, but the park is pretty large and there are plenty of places to explore beyond the DG course.

The park attendant gave us some pretty weak directions that confused the hell out of us, but it's pretty simple to find... just drive straight down the road from the park entrance, until you see it on your left. The course signage is impossible to miss.

Pros: You need every type of throw during a round.
Dogs have a blast!
Beautiful setting, the tee at #5 looking down on the front 9 is great.
Quiet and no electric/telephone lines in view.
Cons: Drainage problem on #2 and #3 that could be fixed.
Other Thoughts: I really love this course and proud to have a part in promoting it to the public. A wonderful addition to a great part of the world. I could play it every day!
