Pros: Good variety of holes in length, elevation, and terrain. Baskets are marked. Extremely low vandalism. Play from the white stakes; the blues are ridiculous.
Really only the first hole is in heavy woods. Everything else is either in a field or a clearing with some aged trees as obstacles. Hole #2s basket has been moved back about 75 feet into the woods, with a big cliff as a backdrop. A nice change to make it more challenging.
Cons: On playing through, I got to wondering, "who actually thought it would be a good idea to build a course here?" Very unkempt, helter-skelter feel to the holes. For example, the first hole is in the woods, with a small dirt path heading up a hill to the basket, with dense foliage throughout. It was very rough. Everything off the fairway has prickers or thorns; extremely unfriendly plants. The back nine is flooded out when the River Raisin rises above its banks. When it does, the baskets are completely submerged. Anywhere off the fairway and your shoes are getting muddy.
i played through again over labor day weekend and it had not rained in about two weeks. this course was a lot more fun than my first time through because of it. The terrain was dry and the field in which the last five baskets are in, which means the mosquito cesspool did not exist. would recommend if it hasn't rained in a while.
Other Thoughts: You definitely need a guide to play this course your first time through. Luckily a local showed up as we were getting ready to tee off, so he took us through. Would not recommend trying to play without a guide. Regardless, this is the best course in Adrian, but I will never play here again.
OK, so I lied. I played here again. What do you want from me? I heart DG.
