a nice place to play
Pros: an easy to navigate course with portable dga goals and very well maintained. the grass is always kept low and the goals are in great shape. hole 3 is a unique hole allowing for an ace race.
Cons: all natural tees with cheaply numbered post systems. although the set-up is great for beginners, the course can become boring for better players.
Other Thoughts: a fun 9 hole, with fair variation for the family.

Better Than No Disc Golf Course
Pros: *$1.00 to get into the park & play all day
*Holes 5-9 have plenty of shade
*Hole 1 tee area has a porta-potty behind it
*Hole 6 is a raised basket on a dirt mound

Cons: *Not as easy to navigate as one would think. When entering the gates of James Island County Park be sure to ask the park employee where the disc golf course is as they'll give you a brochure with a map.
*All 9 baskets are Traveler Portable Targets
*No tee pads or signs directing players where to throw from, distance, or pars.
*More than half of the dirt tee boxes are labeled with a number on an electric box or wooden pole telling players where to throw from.
*Holes 1, 2, and 4 are in a wide open field. No shade
*Holes 5-9 have a barbed wire fence on the players right side. Everything on the other side of the fence is heavy/overgrown brush. Do not throw over it!

Pros: *New 9 hole course with DGA mach-lite portable goals.
*Quiet 9 hole game with great enviroment.
*Only $1.00 a person to park and you can play all day.
*Navigate with numbered tees: you must look for them, white squares with black #'s, some are located on breaker boxes, look carefully.
*Great for beginners and intermediate players.
*Two of the holes were fairly tight offering a decent challenge for better players.
*Very little wildlife.

Cons: *An easy course for an advanced player.
*Although the tee's are marked, the first time finding them may be a challenge.
*Medium risk for losing a disc for newer players.
*Bring bug spray, the nats can become a problem.

Other Thoughts: I enjoyed this course and think that James Island County Park has done a great job with the little amount of land they used for this 9 hole course. It is a quick 9 that offers a decent challenge with Hole # 8 as a true signature hole.
