Pros: The course plays along the Sauk River. There is a practice basket at the beginning. The pads are natural and not the greatest. They were filled with water after the recent heavy rains which was to be expected. The frist hole is out beyond CF on the softball field. Then the next two play along the river giving you the risk/reward of possibly losing a disc in the river. I like the # 6 basket placement down in the rocks next to the river.
Cons: The natural teepads aren't great but probably are just fine for this little course. The layout is pretty bland. With the other fine courses in the area, this one is just kind of an after thought. Probably a nice place to bring a newbie.
Other Thoughts: This is just your typical little park recreational course. Just as it's nothing to get too excited about, there's nothing about it for you not lto ike. There are a couple of ACE runs. It's never going to be crowded. Pretty difficult to lose a disc here although the rivers a possiblity.

Pros: This is a 9 hole course on a flat multi-use city park along the Sauk River in St Cloud, Minnesota. Some holes have multiple teepads. It is geared towards the intermediate player.

This course that plays around the wooded edges of the river, it differentiates itself be using the space available very well and the trees and river to good effect. The first time through I found parts of it a little confusing. Although all holes have at a minimum numbered signs, some have maps. Even with the maps, which don't show alternate tee positions, I found myself throwing at the wrong basket 2 times.

The 2nd time through I played all long tees and they are nicely placed. If I had my druthers I would have all signs updated and moved back to the longs. The course plays much better from there.

Teeboxes are worn gravel areas, it has good parking and nice baskets. Even though it had rained for the previous 2 days water wasn't an issue. It does have a practice basket and onsite restrooms.
Cons: The gravel teeboxes were quite worn and some of the fairways were placed near teeboxes for other holes. Moving everything back to the longs would alleviate this. Some holes like hole 9, which is just an open field shot, are pretty simplistic.

When I played there were 2 areas being used for picnics. If they had been out of the picnic area playing catch or whatever, they would have been in a fairway. So pay attention to field use. This is also notable because of the baseball fields adjacent to the course.
Other Thoughts: This is a pretty good little nine hole course and I did find it fun. With a few minor tweeks, like moving the teeboxes back, changing the shorts to better/ more interesting positions and updating the signs, this course could be very good. If those changes were made it could accomodate the beginner better and make it more of an advanced course as well. As it is I would just call it decent. Not a destination, but worth hitting if you have tried St Clouds other courses and want a change.
