Pros: 1. Very nice camp course location with friendly staff.
2. Course was easy to follow and signs were very accurate. Easy to locate baskets and fairways were well defined.
3. All the baskets were in good shape and little debri on the course. Course seemed well maintained.
4. Parking wasn't an issue, plenty of it.
5. Restrooms are at the main office and at one other spot. So it has some.
6. Plenty of camping nearby and a local store nearby for supplies.
7. The layout was pretty challenging when I went with the 7,000+ elevation and moderate winds blowing in the early afternoon.
8. The fairways looked defined and had some good obstacles to deal with.
9. Good range in distance from 130-315ish.
10. Some holes had some very tight challenging lines and one poke and pray shot.
11. I don't remember any crossing fairways and the course has some good skip shots.
12. Little traffic from other disc golfers, should be fast rounds.
Cons: 1. First con is that it's a camp half the year and while kids are there it's most likely unopened. So you always need to call ahead.
2. Must check in when you arrive and the walk to the first tee from the office is 5 minutes.
3. I thought it was kind of bold to have the course start kinda in the middle of the main quad area. So if people were walking thru you would have to wait for them to walk threw or I other activities were going on it would be hard to play the first 2 holes and a few of the last ones.
4. In a few of the holes buildings come into play and must get hit a lot. Very dangerous and unneeded if a few tees were just moved.
5. Teepads are just dirt and gravel. There fine in the summer and late spring, but in the winter when it snows they'll be tough to play from and will get muddy fast.
6. It's a long drive to the course from the main cities down below the mountain. I recommend playing a few rounds and courses in big bear if you can. Journey up to course is threw a lot of windy roads.
7. Course doesn't get played that much and was forgotten by the disc community for like a decade. We need to get up here more often.
8. Course gets a lot of snow in the winter and is pretty unplayable at those times of the year so always call ahead.
9. Most of the course ground is dirt and it does get dusty in the summer. There are beautiful pines everywhere, but they won't clean your disc.
Other Thoughts: It was nice to get the opportunity to play this course. I played two rounds here and had fun. I wouldn't bring alcohol since its a YMCA camp, but if you just love to play golf then come play this course with your buddies or kids. Pretty flat course that's easy to navigate for any age. After playing the course I am now considering sending one of my kids here for a week in the summer becaus I know the disc golf will take it over the top for him. Beautiful land, wish they would add 9 more holes.
