Thumb Butte
Pros: Grooms sister course. Requires just about every shot one has to score well, (no rollers). Some blind holes(#8, #14, #15). Alternate long tees on a few holes(#1 has three). Elevation changes of the extreme kind, be them up hill, (#7, #9) or down (#6,#8, to name a couple). Probably the most difficult of the three National Forest object courses in Prescott.
Cons: Bad footing when the weather is good, non-existant when weather turns sour. Easy to lose ones disc(s) due to either grass, layout(shooting blind) or snow pack. No baskets.
Other Thoughts: Definitely one of the top courses in town, yet few play it. Exhausting. Empty your bag of dead weight before you play. One will need a guide to find tees, targets when playing for the first time. My favorite hole is #13. Hardest hole on the course is probably #8, due to trees, elevation change and blind alleys.

Pros: Beautiful scenery throughout the ravines, valleys, and rock formations. Challenging layout, with an equal amount of distant targets through the forest, and Ace runs across the ravines! A couple of blind targets. Tons of elevation change here. Interesting teepad positions add to the adventure.
#8 is the signature hole

Cons: -Difficult to find at first (did my best job w/the Directions, PM me and I'll be glad to help!)
-A couple teepads are on rocky outcroppings, which makes you concentrate on your footing a lot.
-No baskets, signs, or Next Tee pointers.
-No trash receptacles, benches

Other Thoughts: Chalk up another off-the-beaten-path course in Prescott, that is a lot of fun! If you don't mind safari golf, then this is a must-play.
The few times I've played TB, I've not seen any other golfers, however there are a few bike paths you'll occasionally see in use, so heads up for the bikers! The target trees do need to be repainted and can be difficult to spot at first.
