Dont believe the hype

Pros: This is a new course so the baskets are in perfect shape. It is in what could be considered a forest in west Texas so you will have protection from the wind and hot sun. It has both wide open and technical shots.
Cons: Plays along a well used walking path.
Several blind shots. There was trash all over the place. On a hole or 2 you have to throw into a field of Mesquite bushes so you have to go looking around plants with 2 inch thorns to get your disc. The first 9 holes play along a path, the back 9 basically follow it back. It appears that they just wanted to get up a new dg course up fast and you can tell it.
Other Thoughts: I first learned about this course on-line to rave reviews and I must admit when I finially got to play it I was very disappointed. The locals were excited about it because it is the newest course in the area. But lets be honest and rate this the way you would rate any course.
When I look at a course I look at several factors. These include safety and the fun factor. I look at the tee pads. Are they safe for everyone to throw off of? I good tee pad is not just a post stuck in the ground with a number painted on it.
I look at how easy it is for a new player to the course to find their way around. The markings for this course are sub-par. It is also not a good idea to have tee pads playing off of a walking path.
I also look at how clean the course is. Even though there was a sign that said "No Alcohol!" I saw beer cans and bottles everywhere. There was trash everywhere.
I realize the locals don't like reading this. In fact I have gotten a couple of harassing emails that let me know that they did not like it one bit. But I have to be totally honest here. For someone like me who travels alot and likes to play DG. This site helps me decide if it is worth my time to go out of my way to play.
In My Opinion the old Comanche Trail course is the best. You can play holes 1-9 on that course walk under the interstate and start at hole 9 of the McKinney Park and play through to hole 8, cross back under the interstate and have a much better round of gold than this course could ever give you.
