NINE HOLES! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

*Walking distance from downtown
*Good Flow
*Nice Tee-Boxes
*Well marked and maintained
*Nice surroundings

Cons:

*There were only 2 baskets up due to a "Break Period" I dont think anyone should ever take a break from huckin disc haha
*Only 9 holes, even though it's advertised as 18 ... And yes i know theres alternate tee spots but that doesnt mean its 18holes haha!
*Rather short throws and runs alongside walking and biking trails

Other Thoughts:

All in all I would deffinately recomend playing this course if youre in the area, and i'd love to come back and play it when all the baskets are up. Also the baskets are the wierdest ones i've seen yet, they catch your disc for the most part but you dont get as satisfying of a CHING! when you nail an ace (Hole 3) Looking forward to playing Kincaid!

Great for visitors 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 30, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Beautiful layout with several short holes. The holes are fairly open with only a couple of holes that are wooded. Very easy to find an errant disc. For visitors to Anchorage you can play this with a midrange (Buzzz) and your putter - easy for packing!

Cons:

Can be crowded. You can avoid some of the crowds by playing early. Be real careful when throwing around the bike path so you don't hit anyone.

Other Thoughts:

The course is a 30 minute easy walk from the Hilton downtown. Stay right of the main road at the curve and you'll walk right into #7 tee just off the bike path. The course is divided by the bike path in 3 sections of 3 holes each. Go through the tunnel at 3 to get to 4. And same thing at 6 to get to 7.
Your best chances at birdies or aces are at 1, 3, 5, 6 (for RHBH Hyzer), and 7.
Enjoy the great view of the lagoon at holes 8 and 9!

Fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 19, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is the second course I have played, and I must say that this is much better than Russian Jack, from beginners perspective. Well marked, short holes, attainable par 3s even by a rookie.
Plus it's typical Alaska city parks - wildlife, trees, scenery.

Cons:

There are signs on most of the holes, it will be closed this summer for renovations (bummer).
It's Alaska, if it's summer, remember the skeeters.

Pros:

Awesome beginner course, Very easy to get around the course aswell as through the course in good time.

Cons:

Very Crowded cant be said enough. This course has been beaten up by kids and people tearing down branches and stomping down bushes. It is home to alot of underage drinking and a fare amount of homeless coming through and sleeping in the gazebo.

Other Thoughts:

Holes 2,4,6 are probably the most difficult , But the rest of the course is fairly easy but still provides an entertaining round.

Pros:

Nice course to work on your short game; some fairly technical holes (hole 2, particularly); can play as late as the midnight sun will allow; right in Midtown, so it's fairly accessible; some decent elevation change (particularly hole 6)

Cons:

Very crowded, sometimes with rowdy players (results in trash and vandalized signage); some of the holes are near fairly busy walking/biking paths; some of the tunnels used to connect the course can be treacherous in early- to mid-spring, as the rest of the path is clear but the snow/ice remains in the tunnels

Other Thoughts:

As the previous reviewer noted, this is a short course and only 9 holes, but it's a great place to go late in the summer evening (started play at 11 PM once) and get in a quick round or go for a lunchtime round.

Pros:

Nice Little Course. Great for if you want to play a quick 30 minute round.

Cons:

Very crowded... it was the only time I ever fealt rushed (and it had been raining all day). That made it a little muddy too. Very short....

Other Thoughts:

Nothing too special about difficulty, length, or technicallity. Just a nice setting with a short crowded course.
