Ever come across a wedding while playing?

I did at Katherine Legge, in Hinsdale, IL. Wedding hadn't quite started and I rushed to play the hole because I had to of course.

Review by Steve Gantz in course The Quarry at Rotary Park

5.00 star(s) Greatness awaits A broad quarry is the setting for this new course. You drive in at the top of the course and when you get out of the car the magic has already begun. You can see the entire course spread out below you. Really no trees to deal with at this point. The quarry is probably 100...

Review by Steve Gantz in course Starved Rock DGC

3.50 star(s) A tale of two halfs 9-17 are really fun. The eroded central Illinois riverlands provide some terrain for us flatlanders. These holes are fun to play. Up and down, around trees, through trees, along cliffs, roller potential, ace runs, birdie putts turning into bogie putts, are all part of the...

So, how did you play today? Part II

Had a few sick days and kind of windy too, so it was a bit of struggle. Sometimes if I have time I go back and replay as many holes as I can and try to improve my score. Really had no shots I felt proud of. This is outside of Chicago.

Review by Steve Gantz in course Northland Pines

2.50 star(s) Like a putt putt course After a warmup hole, it goes into the woods for 7 holes, emerges for 4 holes across the Northland Pines fields, then finishing up through the woods again. If you can shape your shots decently the wooded holes do have lines but they're not super easy. Lots of trees add...

Review by Steve Gantz in course Big Beaver DGC

4.50 star(s) The Hills are Alive If you like hilly and wooded courses this is the place for you. Favorite holes. 2. After a simple warmup hole, the challenge begins with as visually intimidating Tee as you'll find. The steep bluff in front of you as you stand on the tee will cause you to reconsider your...

Review by Steve Gantz in course Rookery Run

4.50 star(s) Northwoods beauty Where to start? When I saw someone on a riding tractor mowing the fairways last summer I was amazed at the upkeep and the care that is taken to play here. This is a beautiful forest far away from civilization yet someone mowing grass. The mowed fairways help keep the...

Post a cool disc golf photo

I'm in Chicago and have played all the way up until two days ago. While I'd rather have snow as I like to Xcountry ski, the extended Disc season is a bonus.

Review by Steve Gantz in course Forsythe Park

3.00 star(s) My Home Course Challenging but not overly difficult. Makes good use of trees on the course because if they didn't most holes would be too simple. The layout is logical, there's concrete tee pads with good signs and a variety of interesting holes. While there's no memorable holes there are...

    50 Acre Park DGC discussion

I'm brand new on this site. I don't quite understand how people rate courses. I read one on a course I play and a person was showering it with praise and then gave it 3.5 stars. In the same post he said it was the 8th rated 9 holer in the world! To me that sounds like a 5 star!

Review by Steve Gantz in course Brush Creek Park DGC

2.00 star(s) This is the place to get your first ace! Not sure if this is a pro or a con, but this course is really pretty easy. If you're a newbie, this is a pro, but an experienced player seriously could score -10 or better fairly easily. It has some nice elevation changes. It's a pretty park. Not...

Review by Steve Gantz in course 50 Acre Park DGC

4.50 star(s) Hills in Chicago? Yes!! Hills, many routes up and down just about the only terrain in near the city. It leads to many opportunities for bombs downhill to stroke your long distance egos! Not wooded significantly, but enough trees to make you think clever routes to some baskets. Separate tee...

By the way, I reread your first comment to me and you said I downvoted his review because I didn't like his rating. I didn't like how critical he was of a brand new course that obviously was a work in progress that also is free to play. That's why i downvoted.
