I know it's been a while, but I don't think I'm missing any point. Your original post asked why people carry understable discs. Predictably, they are for shots that need to flip up and hold straight or to stay turned over for longer. However, my follow up to your rhetorical questions post was...
But sometimes the situation warrants it. I'll throw a Nuke for a 250' shot if I have to mash a big hyzer over some trees, or I need a RHFH shot with a big flair at the end, which midranges won't necessarily be able to accomplish.
I agree with the OS/S part, mostly; if we're talking RHBH, that...
I carry a Meteor, Glide, flippy XL, Heat, flippy Z Nuke and ESP Flash. Those handle most hyzer-flip or turnover shots I need.
I've also practiced my RHFH. Depends on how the shot needs to finish!
Are these your questions, or rhetorical/research questions for the OP?
I wouldn't throw a Nuke until I was able to throw a midrange at least 250'. However, any disc can be good for any distance or type of throw depending on the circumstances. Learn to throw midranges and putters effectively...

I've got a hotel booked by the airport for myself for 5 days. It's a little bit of a drive from the courses, but we can talk if you are really in a bind.
Wish I had seen this thread earlier. Been hoping to play this one for a while. Unfortunately, I was moving out of an apartment last week, so that took up all my time. I will definitely keep my DGCR radar tuned in for Sugaree updates. Hope everyone who got the chance to play enjoyed the heck out...
My FH "form" is all due to playing Ultimate when I was younger. When I "warm up" for my throw once I am in my stance, I generally mimic the idea of 2-3 "feint" throwing motions as though I were trying to confuse a defensive player.
That being said, someone above indicated this... for me, it is...
To answer the posed question, I quite like the Toboggan; Forest Hills in Durham, NC; and Winthrop Gold.
To promote a potential temp course development, I am hoping to have a new one for all of you to play here in southern Virginia. Private school campus, possible layouts varying from 6000-9000...
Just some minimal field work today. Been nursing a muscle pull in my back this week (suffered on Monday), so this is the first day I have thrown since Sunday. Not bad, but still nervous to throw hard. Looking forward to a day off on Monday and a full week to recuperate!
I tried to throw a huge forehand shot on a hole once, probably at the maximum range of which I am capable of doing so. I was trying to throw so hard, my form got all messed up and I actually ended up straining/pulling a glute muscle. Running joke every time I am considering a big forehand with...
Crept up 2 points to 989. I really thought I had the 990 mark this time, but when I checked my own calculations against the official ratings, many of the unofficial tourney ratings I had in my spreadsheet had been adjusted downwards slightly when they went official. Guess I have to keep...
Pretty good today. I took Monday and Tuesday off after a Pro Masters B-Tier win, so it took a few minutes to shake off the rust. Worked on 225-275' FH and BH line-shaping into a protected grove with my portable basket set up, then did some putting from the various lies. An hour of reasonably...
Nice. I like the idea. The 2012 Charlotte Pro and Am Worlds Caddy Book had something similar - a ghost image of the whole park with the course map called out. Individual hole maps with distances, par, and OB info included. I thought the overall course map ghosting was a nice touch, though I wish...

Soft X Challenger, Z Glo Buzzz, Z Crush

...at least that's what I think right now. Might switch the last three, pretty interchangeably, depending on the course.
Still no sticky? Regardless, I hit one Wednesday.
Buckhorn DGC, hole #13. I was throwing a practice round + extra throws for the Buckhorn Open this weekend. A nice older guy named Sidney caught up to me, and we were throwing 12 and onward together. I stepped up to #13 blue and, in tournament...
