Thanks for reviewing the course! I saw that you played from the gold tees in the NDM. The white tees might be a bit of a birdie fest for you, but they are a lot more fun if you don't have 450' of distance. I'm going to keep tweaking the gold tees to see if I can get them closer to the right...
My longest throw ever was 1,230 feet on Hole 18 at Solitude. According to Google Earth, the elevation change is -282 feet. I threw an Underworld slightly downward and it turned over and would have gone to the ground had it not been steeper than the disc's travel. I would have figured to be able...
This is going to be such a tricky thing to apply anywhere but on gradual slopes. Someone mentioned a gradual slope versus a sharper slope at the end of the throw. Of course, a sharper slope at the beginning of the throw could be much more problematic for an uphill throw but much more beneficial...
Well, then there is always this one with the bonus that it actually has a "disc golf" mode that gives you the elevation AND its less than a third of the cost of the Nikon - so it's only less than three times what you are willing to spend. If you shop around enough you may find a golf rangefinder...
Get one of these. Remember to account for the height of your eyes above the tee box and the target above the playing surface. I also use Goole Earth for the general idea, but it can be very inaccurate in areas with lots of variation in elevation.
That's a little over-dramatic. It's also incorrect as it is clearly the same sport. They don't break out into a soccer match to tie-break a college football game.
What is not skillful, fair, consistent and timely about a scorecard playoff. My preference is a sudden death playoff beginning at hole 1. Unless the players tie all holes, the tournament is over at the end of the last scheduled round. Nothing is more timely. It tests skill. The only fairness and...
I don't see it in the rules, of course, but I wonder what, if any, objection there would be to a scorecard playoff in a situation where there is limited daylight for a playoff.
Weird that you would think that I was somehow "pissed off" simply for labeling your unhelpful review as unhelpful. It seems pretty telling that you would make that up. Anyway, when I travel, I search the map based on course rating, typically starting with a 3.5. What I would find in that area is...
My local course used a non-slip top coating. As soon as the grit wore out of it (in less than 6 months) it was worse than what it replaced. The problem with the concrete tees at that course is that the smooth gravel aggregate had become exposed and was very slippery when even slightly damp. I...
Another Update. I'm only really paying attention to the complaints. The MPO player above mentioned that they are too grippy. The only UDisc reviewer to have mentioned them thinks that they are too slippery. So, after about a 1-1/2 months, those are the only negative comments that I have...
Why do you think that I will get headaches and complaints for requiring fewer rollers that would not occur if I required more rollers?
BTW, one of my rationales for not requiring all rollers is that some holes just don't set up for rollers at all. And some of those holes cross relatively wide...
Update on new pads: The feedback that I have gotten on these pads has been almost universally positive, almost. One MPO player claims that they are too grippy and don't allow him to rotate his plant foot. I don't want to dismiss this negative feedback, but I am considerably heavier than him and...
This was my first inclination - to require one roller on every hole. My scoring solution is basically the same as yours - I just added in the "uncounted" throws up front to end up with a final score that could be compared to an ordinary round.
Unfortunately, not every hole on this course is...
