Hey bro! No, I haven't been to Cincy in 10 years. I'm still in Charlotte and try to keep it less than 4 hours away for work. Stop by the next time you're driving through!

Here's a review
All par three, scrubby pine and oak, beach golf. Not a ton of distance but variable from 220-380 feet. Much more technical than the front course, this is exclusively in the woods and has a much different feel. Some ace runs, some longer shots, some really demanding blind shots...
A few observations:
It looks like old 3 tee and old 4 pin have been combined. Lots of hazard and a mando to make it interesting.
And is the "new" hole 4 the same as 2019? Looks like it could be, only 5 feet difference in length and it makes sense in the flow of the course. This iteration only...
I listened to the Jeff Jacquart interview on the PDGA radio reboot, he makes the point that his tournament needs three courses in order to have enough competitors (both pro and am) to make the tournament financially possible. He does a great run through the numbers of running a large event. I...
In 2014, Climo and Schultz had both won consecutive worlds titles but Climo was the only one with three.
Also, he did not win USDGC longer than people expected, unless that means just the first two. Barry won in 2001.
Something I'm not sure has been mentioned yet: new trees on the fairway of hole 5. Right now, they're 4-5 feet tall, and only knocking down bad shots. But in 5 years, the fairway will be considerably tighter.
It looks like holes 9-12, the island green of 13, and 17 will be stroke and distance. Did I miss any?
Please correct me if I'm wrong but most of these have been stroke and distance for the past few USDGCs.
According to the caddy book, OB shots will be limited to either the previous lie or to the drop zone, not last place in bounds.

I'm talking about a 1/2 hour radius. I live basically a half hour drive or less from all of those courses. I would have had a hard time coming up with a good half hour radius list for Raleigh.
But, yes, I agree, those are some great courses to have about an hour away. That list compares...
Charlotte has a greater density of high quality courses than Raleigh. I do really like a lot of the Triangle courses but the top ten courses in each city are probably:
Charlotte, in no particular order:
Renny Gold
Hornet's Nest
Nevin
Scrapyard
Eastway
Renny Pro Players
Elon (pick one)
Bradford...
Reno Adventure Park - Red. Death is possible on several holes. Decomposed granite and absurdly steep cliffs are the main hazard. The drive in is pretty treacherous too.
When I was there in January, it looked like they'd moved basket #2 to 18 long. This allows you to play 18 in both the A and B position from 2016.
In the place of where #2 basket usually sits: nothing.
Reno Adventure Park. The Red course is extremely steep and has some drastic drop offs and decomposing granite that makes for some treacherous footing.
