Pros:

9 hole beginner friendly course in a "park" playing around buildings of a church and private school. Despite being a church/school, there are signs welcoming the public to enjoy the area, at designated times however.

9 good MVP baskets. Tees are rubber, but at least the tees are evident (I have played many courses like these with no tees). Most tees were near the previous basket and easy to find (tip- cross road to the wooded area to find #3). The course map here on DGCR is accurate so once you find #1 (which is near the restrooms, playground, and homeplate) then you should be good to go without it, even if you accidentally swap up 8 and 9.

The area is nicely kept. Grassy fairways. Plenty of trees for additional scenery and challenge. Some slight elevation on the last few holes. Not going to lose a disc here.

Sure, some manmade objects are everywhere (buildings, sidewalks, roads, fences, playgrounds, a short zipline down #1 fairway…) but use them as obstacles and/or o.b. if you want for additional challenge.

Bonus- the place even had clean restrooms... that were open on January 2nd! Easy to find off I-65. Close to White House DGC.

Cons:

No tee signs exist, and the baskets aren't numbered- would be nice to see something with numbers 1-9 on them.

So this course can be played backwards, which I sort of get, but this concept has its obvious flaws. Some tees are used to play in both directions, yet sometimes there are other tees for the backwards way. So whatever those in charge want to do is fine, but this setup could be confusing if people stumble upon disc golf here and are unaware of the whole backwards thing. If I had more time, I might have attempted to reverse it, but I think I would have just played a 2nd round the normal way to try and improve on my 1st attempt instead. Maybe if I lived here and got bored I would do it, but there is much better 18-hole course close by, so probably not.

Design/navigation- without a map I likely would have thrown to basket 9 from tee 8, then not found a tee for 9, would have made one up, played to the last basket, then walked to the car. With the map, I did the same thing anyways, because it only makes sense not to criss-cross fairways, plus it leaves yourself with a longer walk back to the car if you play the map way.

Signs posted say not to use the facilities Mon-Fri from 6am-6pm, reducing its overall playability.

Other Thoughts:

This is a great place to introduce somebody to disc golf. Great for kids. I took my 7-year old son and it was just the right level for him. For me I played with a putter, mid, and fairway driver (and didn't really need the driver), so this is a good place to practice your short game.

Good for local beginners and course baggers. Everyone else should pass. It is not horrible, and has some upside, and I would probably play here again myself, but only because I have kids and my in-laws live near here.

Having a little grace 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 29, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Grace Park is on the grounds of a large church campus but in an area that isn't likely to interfere with other church activities. The moderately wooded course incorporates some elevation on a couple holes, some tricky tree lines on a couple others, and overall, does a decent job of providing a venue suitable for novice disc golfers.

While there are some flaws in its design, there are a few things that the course creators did well.

The baskets and teepads seem to be reasonably placed; there are no trees right in front of teepads or in ridiculous groupings around the baskets.

Hole #9 is a neat hole. At just over 200 feet, the design involves throwing over a small grassy valley and the corresponding ridge and then downhill to a blind basket protected by several tees.

Grace Park DGC is mostly grassy and easy to traverse. The hilly holes, Holes #7 and #9, are a couple of the prettiest and best holes on the course, however.

Cons:

The course is missing a few of the niceties of typical park-style courses. There are no tee signs, no directional arrows, and no numbers on baskets.

Using a course map is advised, even though the course does proceed in a fairly-clockwise manner around the facility. The course doesn't make a complete loop back to Hole #1, so you'll have a few-minute walk back to the start after Hole #9. (Unless you subscribe to the obnoxious concept to play the course backwards.)

The teepads are small and rubber. When I played, several of the pads had mud on them. Fortunately, most of the holes are around 200 feet and may not require a mighty run-up.

The basket and the subsequent teepad are closely positioned on several holes, so if there were ever multiple groups on the course, this could be an issue. Also, if a group was playing the course "backwards," this might result in an interesting confrontation.

The fairway for Hole #2 runs between a small building and a fenced playground area, so caution is urged.

The "fairway" for Hole #8 goes over a section of parking lot, which could result in the hole being difficult to play if many cars are present.

There are a number of low-hanging branches that contribute to making the lines a bit more challenging; the course is probably easier to play in winter versus summer.

Other Thoughts:

Upon first play, my initial impression was that this course merited a 1.0-1.25 rating. However, once one solves any navigational issues, it's a slightly better play. Plus, it's near the interstate, unlikely to be busy and a quick course to bag.

Grace Park DGC seemed to be a tick better than the courses I've rated 1.0, which is usually indicative of more severe flaws than the cons found here. So I factored a little grace into my rating …

Put It In Reverse. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 26, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

(1.069 Rating) A short park style course needing much more investment.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - Not an ideal beginners course, but close. Short distances and hard to lose a disc. Skilled players will throwing for chain music.
- CHAINS - Adequate MVP Black Hole baskets.
- QUICK PLAY - Despite poor navigational conditions, I had this shorty wrapped up in thirty minutes. There are several short transitions between holes.
- MAINTENANCE - Fully maintained and free of trash on my visit.
- LOCATION - Just for your course bagging pleasure, Grace Park is not even a five minute drive off of the Interstate. White House DGC is also located less than five minutes down the road.

Cons:

New Course Issues.
- NAVIGATION - Nothing is marked. Not baskets, not tees and no directional arrows. I managed to find a map from a different source and still struggled a bit. I think the layout is still undergoing some tweaking so be cognizant of the added adventure possibilities. The course starts on the east side of a restroom building and then plays somewhat westward for two holes. After hole (2), head south about 250 feet and look for a rubber pad near some newly dumped debris piles. Play westward for 3 more holes. After (5), play north for three holes and finally, hole (9) plays to the west again.
- PARKING - After finishing, it's a 1,000 foot walk back to the parking area.
- BASKET AND TEE SEPARATION - Whomever laid out the course doesn't know proper spacing between baskets and tees. 3 or 4 tees were within the circle when I played. This is going to cause problems when more than one group is on the course. The pads do seem movable, so perhaps they will get shifted around at a later date
- SAFETY HAZARDS - I've seen much worse, but having to wait or electing not to play a hole may occur. (1) and (2) plays along a playground and (8) throws over the corner of a parking lot. In addition, school access roads come into play a few other times.
- LACK OF CHALLENGE - This may slightly change since the rubber pads are not affixed, but regardless, Novice level challenges currently. All simple and short park style shots.
- UNIQUENESS - To repeat, all simple short park style shots.
- CHARACTER - No extras were present. Its baskets and tees only. Off the course there are restrooms and playgrounds.
- TEES - Rubber tees laid on the ground with no concern for leveling.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - Meh. There's a nice aging tree canopy, but manmade objects are constantly in view. I scored the course a 2.125. This I felt was actually one of the better aspects of the course.

Other Thoughts:

The Grace Park course still needs a lot of refinement. It desperately needs markings the most, otherwise the locals that stray here will get frustrated and leave. However, even with a marked layout, this course is too simplistic to draw an experienced crowd. In its current state, it will likely only find play by school students and guests.
- PLAY IN REVERSE - Apparently, you can play the course in reverse after finishing nine holes. I saw several extra tees where the only logical play was backwards. A few tees appear to be used to throw both directions. This is only going to cause more problems with two or more groups on the course. A nice extra though when on an empty course.
