Labor of Love

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 24, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

The greatness of this course lies not only on the tough but fair lines it makes you throw, it is the remoteness of the property and the obvious care put into the land. Arrive on your motorcycle from an indirect route if you are able (fun driving roads in the area). There are 18 existing (very high quality) Prodigy targets on the property. The layout makes thoughtful use of the Appalachian terrain to give users a variety of shots.

Cons:

Pads are functional but small & in need improvement. No Tee signs yet: an easy way to improve wayfinding is to indicate direction of next pad by using a spoke marking on each target's bottom basket. It was nice to have a spotter today, given that the ground was covered by a pretty thick disc-hiding layer of late fall leaves.

Other Thoughts:

We will be back to stay in a treehouse and hopefully catch a tournament here next summer. The grounds are pet friendly and the owners delightful.

Remote Appalachia

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 5, 2024 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The property is remote, quiet, hilly, wooded, with some grassy fairways. This tract of land compares to Harmon, Maple and Iron hill. There is good diversity of holes. More of the holes play in wooded fairways with demanding but fair lines. The fairways are well defined. There are open holes either shooting from a cove or finishing in a cove. I stayed on the property and played two rounds to ourselves. The course now as a complete 18 holes. Appalachia discin is my favorite topography.

Cons:

The course is very much a work in progress. Without government funding, it is a labor of love. When I played, the wooded holes were covered in leaves from tee to pin. The layout is tricky to navigate. This is not a negative once navigation signs are in place. The tee signs are not good. The tee pads are bad. They are carpet, to short and bumpy.
As this course develops, longer tees should be added.

Other Thoughts:

I agree with most points as the first reviewer. However, until the cons are remedied, it is not a 4 rated course. If they keep developing the course, it will be a destination 4plus rated course.

Treehouses and Disc Golf all in one place!

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 16, 2024 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

First I have to say, being able to rent and wake up in an incredible treehouse and just walk to the first tee pad is really awesome! And it's very pet friendly! The owners are incredible people too!- so nice! They've built a great challenging 9 hole course and are in works of finishing 10-18 at time of this review. Lots of elevation change. Holes 1 &2 are basically wide open, and hole 9 plays thru woods into the open. Rest are moderate to heavily wooded. Caters well to accuracy over distance. From what I could tell, the back nine should balance the course nicely when it's finished. Our stay in the DreamWeaver treehouse was so neat and awesome! Blackberries tasted great 👌

Cons:

Typical cons with wooded courses. Negates advantage of big arms. Few longer holes with some tight lines thru trees will force players to layup & focus on shot selection. Many of the surrounding woods are really thick. Although it was pretty easy to navigate with UDisc, it could use some directional signs between holes. Tee pads are turf mats and may feel short for big wind ups. Cellular service is very limited (1 bar).. and Watch out for the Black Berries on 9.

Other Thoughts:

Highly recommend everyone to go stay in a Treehouse because they are coool! Besides the fact that your 15 mins to downtown McCaysville or Ocoee Whitewater Center.. you can walk out your door and to first hole in 3 mins! I also got to play 2 of the future back nine and see a few others setup with temp baskets. The back nine is going to be just as good if not better (at least more forgiving I think) than the front. Sounds like they should be ready for play sometime in August 2024. Every avid disc golfer should do themselves a favor and check this place out!
