Another #Grow The Sport Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 20, 2022 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This is a 9-hole course set on the grounds of the Windemere Ranch Middle School Campus. This is another 9-hole #Grow the Sport course designed to introduce middle school students to the sport. The school has all the amenities that most schools have from basketball courts, handball courts, baseball, football, and soccer fields. The school has restrooms, but these will probably be locked when the course is open.
The course consists of 9 baskets and a mix of tees, ranging from rubber horse stall mats to orange marking paint on concrete and asphalt. Most holes are on the shorter side with all holes under 300 feet with most holes under 200 feet. But these are great holes for the middle school students they were intended.

Cons:

Safety Issues: Some of the holes play too close to buildings and windows especially holes 1 and 3. But, the same could be true of all the sports being played on these fields. It would be just as easy to knock a baseball into the windows or to kick a ball into one. The truth is schools accept that windows might get broken with all the activities being played here but it can be unnerving.

Navigation: You are going to need a map. Udisc smart layout will come in handy.

Limited Hours: Obviously being on school grounds, means the course is only available to play when school is not in session. But on the weekends and after school its good to go.

Baskets: The baskets are single chain Quikshots by Gopher Sports. These baskets are sourced from the same manufacturer as Costco baskets and the Park/Sun baskets.

And now for a quick rant if there are park or schools reading this: Gopher Sports is a sporting goods company that sells on government procurement sites, therefore most parks and schools have accounts with them already. These single chain baskets are made for temporary placement and not long-term installation. However, these baskets are sold for almost the same price as professional disc golf targets on these government services administration site. They also tend to sell discs that are sourced from the same manufacturers as Amazon disc golf discs. These discs in a word "suck." They do not fly like disc golf discs. For parks and schools reading this, buy from reputable disc golf companies. You wouldn't buy square balls for your sports or sporting equipment that doesn't work, nor should you buy disc golf equipment that's doesn't work.

Other Thoughts:

This is a decent introductory course for middle school students. This is by no means a DGPT tournament course but for middle school students it is fine. It is also a great place to practice but players may find it unnerving playing next to buildings and windows.

First time for everything 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 30, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Provided a first-time experience for me ...

Cons:

... the first course to receive a '0' from me.

Other Thoughts:

Single-chain baskets. No designated tee areas. Dead flat.

#1 A little long, a little left, smash into a window.
#2 At the bottom a a drainage system Entire left side low, prickly juniper
#3 Too high and a bit right, land atop a building. Entire right side asphalt.
#4 In the back corner where two fences meet. If too high right, undeveloped area. If too high left, private housing development.
#5 The only somewhat reasonable basket location, kinda near one tree.

Baskets 6-9 are in a line, about 100' from each other. They are in a ~25' wide mulched area, with some scattered trees and bushes. This area separates a playing field/walking path from a parking lot/some fencing, so any errant throws may find people, cars, or over-fence.

They'd have been better off just tossing a few baskets at random in the flat open space where 2-5 are, and calling it a practice area/mini-safari plain, which would make it okay for that type of thing, but as a course, it is horrible.
