I think you could do a better job. Off the top of my head you understand clock management a hell of a lot better than Mason. Current strategy: A minute thirty left in the half with 3 timeouts? Better just kneel on it. Need to run out the clock? Better throw some passes out of the hurry up.
30 seconds into a half and I'm not crazy about the other team's defensive alignment? Better use one of our timeouts, because we certainly wouldn't need that later for any reason.

You wouldn't try to run a 3-4 defense with an undersized D-Line. You would probably try to get WR recruits who showed speed and an ability to separate rather than a bunch of 6'4 guys who are literally never open.

You probably wouldn't spend the first 3 years in the program recruiting HI and CA while completely ignoring TN.

You wouldn't recruit DBs based exclusively on length, because at some point you would figure out that being able to read defenses, being able to tackle, having the speed and reflexes to cover receivers, and being able to make a play on the ball are all more important than simply being long.

While you are at it, please take over at Michigan also. Not sure why, but coaching there is inferior or non-existent.

And a side note for you guys, although it didn't help them, Michigan survived a turnover because of an illegal batting call.

What is really a horrible nightmare scenario for me, that a couple months ago was a joke, but is now very plausible- Harbaugh leaving Michigan to go to the Lions. Maybe it would make both teams better, but I am not counting on it.

And let me just say that if either team hires Urban Meyer, I will never cheer for them again. Never. Ever.

Everywhere Urban Meyer goes, the worst humans on the planet seem to follow. It's almost like he tries to bring in folks destined for prison.

As Vanderbilt heads into a coaching search, I'm reminded that no one knows anything. Harbaugh was supposed to be a HR hire. There are countless HR hires that fail. And almost as many "terrible" hires that turn out fine.

That said, it would be extraordinarily difficult to bring in someone worse than Mason. It turns out he couldn't recruit, motivate, or actually coach. Having a coach who could do any one of those things would be a positive step.

And I'm still mad about the illegal batting call from the Vandy-Duke game.

I'm hoping Vandy doesn't get cute. Lea, Chadwell, and Healy supposedly are all interested.

Corbin loves Lea. The Notre Dame fans want him to be the next HC.
Chadwell reminds me a bit of Franklin. A little cringeworthy at times but can motivate players. Having a guy that has players ready to run through walls for each other has worked for us before.
Healy took over Austin Peay who was historically bad and made them respectable. Then he made a terrible Charlotte team respectable. Maybe not the most exciting thing in the world, but we've reached the point of needing a complete rebuild. So he might be just what we need.

You are already seeing Vandy fans either pulling a - if it's not this ONE guy I will be ANGRY or I hate this qualified candidate and if we pick this guy I will be ANGRY. ANYONE but that one guy, even though there are hundreds of much worse candidates.

People hate Lea because he's not a head coach. You can't possible succeed or recruit if you aren't currently a head coach. And don't mention that Franklin was an assistant because that doesn't fit my angry narrative!

People hate Chadwell because he isn't a power 5 head coach and he hasn't dominated every season as a head coach.

People hate Healy because despite making horrible teams good, he didn't make them world-beaters.

With all of these guys - but, but, but he hasn't shown he'd be able to recruit in the SEC. but, but, but I want to compete for National Championship. but, but, but what if he IS good, then we'd just be a stepping stone like we were for Franklin. but, but, but I want a guy with a long track record of success while also not being older than 40. but, but, but I want guys are currently very successful at much better Power 5 schools and would have absolutely no reason to leave. And anything less is going to lead to nonstop b!tching and moaning.

It's almost as if people have already forgotten just how bad the last 7 years have been...
