Gateway direct ebay is good deal too

I bought a dyed HPP Magic and David's store says if you pay immediately he will throw in a free disc.

Well, I half expected that to not happen, imagine my surprise when I got this:

Closeup of dye:

The dyed disc was $18.99 plus $5 for shipping UPS. It came in 2 days and when you look an at HPP cost at $15 and you get a free $10 disc and like $4 in minis...freaking sweet man.

:D

Link? Sounds like an awesome deal.

I hate you... I was going to buy it but when I got home from work, it was gone. Knew a totally sweet dye like that wouldn't last long but I had my hopes! :P

I had my spidey-sense tingle when you said you got a dyed Magic! I'll post the custom dyes I got from them today when I get some photos done. I did get a 4-pack misprint from them a couple of weeks ago - Warlock, Wizard, Magic, and Voodoo - then got an EPP Assassin thrown into there too along with a mini. Definitely recommend buying from Gateway Direct as well!

StrikerME02 08-14-2009 08:23 PM

Wow. Thanks for the heads up on another awesome deal.

xare 08-14-2009 09:17 PM

First package I mentioned - directly from Gateway Direct:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3580/...f8ed8041bb.jpg
EPP Assassin, SSS Magic, SS Wizard, SSS Voodoo, SS Warlock, plus mini.

Then I went ahead and commissioned 4 custom dye jobs on HPP Wizards and this is what I ended up getting from Gateway Direct:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2478/...e75eb6a0e6.jpg
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2631/...ab44a47e0a.jpg

The four clear discs with the dyes are the HPP wizards I paid for with their respective custom dyes. They went ahead and threw in 2 more EPP wizards for free, with an inverse dye job and a regular dye job on an orange disc (my favorite color!). On top of that, they threw in one of those interlocking mini pairs. Completely blows me away. I got way MORE than what these would have retailed for, without the dye jobs.

Needless to say, the Wizard is now my prominent and permanent putter. I'm now in the quest of finding a driver that I like, hopefully from Gateway so I can get some more custom dye jobs done. If they have a dye you've seen before on their storefront (link provided above), they can replicate it for you for the $18 cost, or if you buy 4 or more, $15 each. This means I can order the bear dye on something else! (But they don't always have clear & blank HPP discs available). In a few weeks, I'll probably get another custom dye job order in with them. Whole process took about 2-3 weeks before I finally got the discs in hand and I couldn't be more pleased.

billnchristy 08-14-2009 09:21 PM

I like the world dye...freaking cool.

BTW I think the Apache comes in HPP...

I hope David is ready to dye because I feel some work will be coming his way...

xare 08-14-2009 09:26 PM

Yep, the world dye actually showed up on an Apache HPP driver available on the store - liked it so much but someone bought the Apache before I could get it... so I went ahead and ordered the custom world dye on the Wizards. Then I asked if they could just do a custom-custom dye for me and that's how I ended up with the bear discs - they are worthless to anybody else, which I like! :)

bongripper0420 08-14-2009 10:08 PM

Gonna have to try this one out. Ive been wanting to try some gateway stuff:D

ChaseTheAce 08-15-2009 12:35 AM

that's how I got into throwing Voodoos. I got one free in an order

Ewb46 08-15-2009 01:21 AM

Sounds like a sweet way to get some gateway.

Ewb46 08-15-2009 01:22 AM

I am curious about the SS and the SSS plastic. I was in the local shop playing around with one and that disc felt stif rather then soft does it get floppy as it is used? what are they referring to as soft?

Tyler 08-15-2009 02:31 AM

O yea the more your use them the more you will notice the difference my buddy and I where playing and he threw his brand new gateway SSS magic that felt stiff towards the basket and got jammed in the basket. I have used about every Gateway disc known to man so if anyone has question just ask and I can always ask Dave directly since I live 25 Minutes away from his new shop.

ShaZaun 08-15-2009 02:36 AM

Wow...... no need to say more.......

Ewb46 08-15-2009 03:02 AM

Does the sss or ss get a floppy feel like a blowfly or R pro.

billnchristy 08-15-2009 07:52 AM

None that I have had did.

I would say soft is pretty stiff, almost DXy, SS is a little more flexy, more pro-y, and SSS is starry and this is in bend only, the plastic feels the same throughout the line, which is almost rubbery, very grippy...never shiny.

Ewb46 08-15-2009 10:10 AM

That was a pretty simplified innovaish breakdown. That helps me out since that is the only line I know pretty in and out. Ty for the responce.

STSgoalie 08-15-2009 08:41 PM

Dave is a running a good company and justin is doing good working there getting and sending the products there. Overall the best company to deal directly with in disc golf.

That's part of why I'm really loving my SSS Wizards, they don't feel floppy, so it feels better to put some spin on them, but they are soft enough to really grab the chains and sit rather than bouncing out. You can bend them pretty easy in your hands, but they don't flop around.

MrHighlandPark 08-16-2009 06:02 PM

Have they really licensed deals with all the bands who's logos they're selling on discs? Maybe I'm way out of line for assuming they have not, but to me it makes them seem very amateurish.

ChaseTheAce 08-16-2009 06:06 PM

I'm pretty sure they are licensed or else they couldn't have done it for so long w/o getting caught

Thought I'd give the wizard a try.
3 organic wizards 166
170 super soft magic
2 minis

discgolferlee 08-20-2009 04:57 PM

man I saw those wizards on ebay and wanted em bad. I love my organic wizards and love the color and offset stamp of those.. I'm very jealous.

waynewf 08-20-2009 05:28 PM

I'm waiting on my Spirit with a Led Zepplin dye job.....oh man, if he threw in a Wizard with my order that would be sweet!

billnchristy 08-20-2009 06:21 PM

Wow, didn't know they could make organic in yellow...cool

It's actually a bright green. Compare it to the mini, it's yellow.

billnchristy 08-20-2009 09:11 PM

BTW, that Aviar didn't last long...probably for the better...Wizards are nice putters.

How's the bags?

ChaseTheAce 08-20-2009 09:20 PM

In my purchases with Gateway direct I have received free with my orders a 175 Glow Voodoo, 172 SS Wizard, and a 174 E Assassin

Aviar was for my wife, she already had 1 165 and a second one is nice for practicing. She already said she was taking one of those wizards though. Bag is great, much better than what I was using and it's nice that it stands upright instead of flopping over when you place it down.

DiscJunkie 08-20-2009 09:59 PM

I've bought from Gateway before.
VERY good to deal with.
When he says he'll send the free disc with fast payment, he does.
I believe he also makes some Quest AT stuff for them.
I love Gateway putters, but the drivers and mid-ranges are on the fast, overstable side of the scale.
I have emailed him and he always responds promptly.
The website has some good tips and articles:

progolfer33 08-20-2009 11:07 PM

I definitely want to do this deal. I'm gonna buy one of the Wizard sets so I can practice more. Can someone please explain how the S compares to the SS and SSS plastics. All I've tried is the S.

bongripper0420 08-31-2009 08:26 PM

I bought a illusion dyed driver for 9.99 + 5.00 shipping and got the driver voodoo putter and two minis! Great deal in my opinion.

Eagle01 11-12-2009 02:26 AM

Just ordered a 3 Wizard deal off eBay gatewaydirect, he threw in an Evolution Apache and mini, awesome deal !

The wizards (got an S, an SS and SSS version, around 172g) feel great in my hand, can't wait to toss 'em

Beable 11-12-2009 10:59 AM

The dude from Gateway is amenable to deals made via email too. I had a good experience with them when I was looking for a stack of putters to practice with.

discgolphinmafaukner 11-12-2009 11:24 AM

I agree! Gateway Direct on eBay will cut you hella deals! I received 3 SSS Magics, an Assassin, and a Mini for $25. I sold one for Magic for $10. And he made it a point to contact him via email for anything else I needed from Gateway.

duke6528 11-12-2009 06:23 PM

I have been wanting to try out some gateway putters so I bought 5 x-out discs from gateway for $40 with free shipping. I was able to pick which discs I wanted and the weights. I got 3 Voodoos, a Wizard, an Apache, and they threw in a free Assassin. Not bad.

Mushin No Shin 01-14-2010 04:42 PM

I was an ebay winner on Monday, and a UPS winner today!

Gateway Misprint Deal is ... ?

Check out the Gateway Underground site for some more misprint offers. Interesting, but they have even better deals if you're the only bidder on their ebay offerings via: Gateway Disc Golf Direct.
