How does the Recycle vs the Opto vs the Hard Zero Pures compare driving wise?

Kodachrome 08-09-2015 01:02 AM

I wouldn't bother with recycled. The shoulder is deep and it makes it too easy to get flutter. Opto is straight to slight fade, soaks up power. Zero is neutral at lower power, turns at driving power. Thing is, pure is a pretty speed sensitive putter. Until it's beat in, it's still going to fade at lower power.

MikeM 08-14-2015 11:12 PM

Have I mentioned lately that an Opto Pure is the best disc in the history of ever?

I wanted the Recycled to work as a putting putter, but you nailed right; it just does not feel like any other Pure I have thrown.

Gold Line, on the other hand, is by far the best of the bunch. It is just a notch less stable than the Opto but that only makes it a better approach disc. It is fast, glides well, and will hold a line forever. I have four now and have just ordered two more so I can spread the throws and slow down their seasoning. Too bad they are not currently in production. I am spending more than I would like getting these.

Maybe - worth repeating though.

I don't even bag one, but I know this to be true.:)

JNichols 08-15-2015 12:29 AM

I bag Opto for drives/up shots and I putt with Recycled GL Pures. I dig the Recycled GL's for putting.

Yeah maybe, I like the Opto Fuse a little more. Just love watching that slow turn and glide.

PMantle 08-15-2015 07:54 PM

Played a one disc round today at a short college course with a Zero Hard. It turned way more than my Opto does. May start carrying both.

It's a good setup. I kept opto and zero hard for driving, zero hard for putts and zero soft for the touch approach. Sometimes opto on the approach too.

Given the two completely distinct flights, it just made sense. If I ever throw opto pures again I'll be bagging zeros too.

KenanFlagler01 08-17-2015 04:46 PM

I'm thinking about getting a Pure for tee and approach shots. Right now, I'm putting with Blend Wardens and using Fuzion Wardens off the tee and for approach shots. How does the Pure compare?

Badger45 08-17-2015 04:59 PM

The Pure is a little less HSS than the Warden. It's a fantastic driver for those tight wooded tunnel shots, as it doesn't take much effort to get it to run a straight line. I keep an Opto Pure in my bag for just that purpose or for when I need to slow things down and regain my control and play the safe shots.

Interesting, I could use a driving putter that I can power up just a little more than an opto Pure. Might have to invest in one.

Thought the Pure was the "greatest putter ever"...how could u possibly need a different putter?

PMantle 08-18-2015 10:46 AM

It's the greatest disc ever.

Snap-it 08-18-2015 10:53 AM

Pure truth :D

Man, I wish I would have grabbed some GL Pures when they were still around! Assuming they're reasonably flat they must be real nice throwers.

tbird888 08-18-2015 11:52 AM

$20 is steep? I'm seeing a lot of premium plastic around here hovering around that range so I never really thought it was that bad, especially for a disc that will be hard to lose and will continue to be useful in the bag for years to come.

Yeah, I guess it's not that bad if reg GL is $17ish. Good point.

It would be nice if they released some non-Dyemax ones though. None of the ones I have seem like they'd be bright enough for my old eyes to find on errant tee shots. I have always heard that they're very similar to Optos so I never cared to try one. I loved the bubblegum pink Opto I had, so it was never a big deal. Then I found the Proxy was very close in flight and didn't suffer from the same problems the Pure has and stopped caring altogether!

Bingo!

zendragon 08-18-2015 01:48 PM

The GLs are nice. A little steep just for a cool stamp, but yeah, white is hard to lose. I'm considering getting another before they are gone.

anrew18 08-18-2015 01:49 PM

Would be nice to see them in Moonshine

Yeah, the only gold lines I can find are the decos for a hefty price. Recycled gold is nice but it isn't as durable as gold.

Again, twenty dollars is hefty?

Streets 08-19-2015 09:01 AM

Are the recycled ones still coming out domey?

Aim For The Chains 08-19-2015 09:05 AM

Yes but I think they are old stock at GGGT still. There was soooooo much recycled stock that didnt sell well.

Yeah, I had one dark navy blue RGL Pure and was not a fan, Opto came out so much better, even the one or two GL I've seen in person were flat.

tbird888 08-19-2015 09:09 AM

My Gold Lines are all flat, but they're all from the first Halloween stamp or older.

Aim For The Chains 08-19-2015 09:09 AM

Do they even make new runs of that crap? Colors were terrrrrrrrrrrible

Well, if I ever come across a normal GL, I'll grab it. Thanks.

Oh look its my biggest fan always replying to me. Thanks brandooo!! However, I was just giving advice. Were you upset I gave advice when someone asked? Oh Brandololol always cracking me up.

Good hearing from you again, and thanks but no thanks I dont support any religion affiliation none the less thing a certain season is designated to religious celebration. Seems kind of grandiose and silly at the same time.

Hope all is well with you.
