I got rid of my Zs expecting the regular Kaxe to eventually season into a straighter flyer but its lasting SO long and really holding the original stability so well that I wish I still had them. This video is the best I've found on the Kaxe Z specifically. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEk2gFhTszM |
any more people that have thrown gstar gazelles for a wider sample size? saw a couple accounts earlier. thinking about picking up a couple since gstar seasons decently quick, but dx just isn't an option here in the woods. dx is magical, but i already have enough roller gazelles. sometimes i hit trees, you know?
|
I just got a Champ KC gazelle. Are these any good?
|
I've thrown someone else's and the course and it was like the flat star that I have in flight. I think it was a tick more stable, but every bit as glidey as a dx.
I have been tempted to order some, but can't quite justify that large of order from the innova shop yet. |

I just ordered a G* yesterday as well as a champ Cheetah and a star Cheetah. The reviews of the champ Cheetah say they think it flies like a Gazelle. We'll see, I guess.
|
Will be interested to hear your thoughts.
Another mold I am playing with is a polaris Lf, same rim size, but unfortunately oop as well. Was hoping hyzerbomb would pick it up, but I see that as unlikely considering the veteran. |
Closest to premium gaz I've thrown have been Kaxe, Champ Cheetah (pearly pro shop ones), and Quantum Polaris LS.
Pretty sure my Champ Cheetah is the most stable of the bunch if that matters. QPLS is a lot more stable than you would think and is readily available at a cheap price. Base plastic Polaris can't handle headwind at all but the Q's stay straight and still have some fade, and they practically give them away as demand is low. |

I personally did not dig the kaxe. Didn't feel gazelle ish, but agree with the PLS. |
Interesting this thread came up when it did. Just bought two jolly launcher gazelles in hopes they can take over my fairway game. Used to bag eagles and teebirds but the PD's kicked them out. Would you guys say the jolly launcher is the most stable of the plastics? Or is it 11x kc and ce? Also curious to see what else you guys bag / pair with the gazelle, do you bag other fairways or is the gazelle versatile enough with different plastics and stages of wear to have it be the only fairway your bag?
|
A) where'd you find joly launchers and are there more?
B) I've not thrown a run labled as JL, but my domey champs are the most stable. I carry a whippet for beef, the champ gazelle, then a few varying stages of dx right now that covers stable, hyzer flip and turnover. That is really all I carry for fairways, but admittedly the gazelle isn't as long as the TB or Eagles. Which works for me as I am trying to focus on slower discs. When I bag something longer I will bag a 9 ish speed like an escape. |

Yup, those are the only jl gazelles these days.
|
My champs are the double eagle x outs.
I guess I need to make a new wanted thread specifically for gazelles as mine hasn't gotten a bite. Good find for you. |
Just one thing to add about the CS Cheetahs, they are pretty flat where the CC Gazelles I have thrown have had more dome.

I have one of the glow gazelles in the mail right now. Can't wait to try it out, but I might have to wait for the snow to go away. I'm guessing it'll be a little beefier than I was hoping for, but I'm still looking forward to throwing it. Maybe I'll need to learn how to dye it so I can use it all year round...
|
My double eagle x out doesn't sound quite as OS as the CS gazelle. Sounds like you get some awesome s turns with the CS cheetah, may have to check one out.

The cheetahs are beautiful, for sure. Very flat, pearly and comfortable in the hand. But not a gazelle. :(
|
My Eagle double stamp is very overstable. I maybe should have gotten the Cheetah.
|
The Circle Stamps and the x outs with random double stamps are the same disc as far as I know. Is this correct?

So, out of curiosity what are people using their gazelles for compared to other mids or fairways. How far are you throwing them?
|
I use gazelles on virtually all fairway duties. No mids except for the hornet. I will be using long putters instead, ala anode/envy. I am comfortable enough to rip my putters 100% to compensate for low ceilings or throw a fairway like the gazelle at 80%.
I haven't been able to throw consistently since June due to some troubles, and the last time I did I nearly broke my arm off backward at the elbow so I'm not sure how I'll be throwing this year, but I used my gazelles on nearly every wooded straight shot over 300'. I could probably push them to 360' for a fairway shot. I like to throw hard. The pd out to 400 or so, pd2 goes a bit farther, probably 440' max, open field. |

11X for most fairway shots. Rocs up to 310 given cieling gazelles come in bout 280 up to 350 or a little further. Got one beat and one fresh. Above that I go Metal flake teebird3 300 to 380 and pds get me up to just past 400. No distance drivers besides pd.
|
So far I am hearing mostly similar sentiments to how I use them.
I drive with a chief/envy up to 200 or so maybe longer with enough ceiling. Then my truths come in up to 250 to 275 depending on ceiling. Gazelles come in about 250 low ceiling and up to 350 or so. From there it is my escapes. |
Have you found stable Truths? My last two start turning over 275. Sometimes when I can't have that. Thinking of switching to Cores.
|
I just got an opto Core and it's way less stable than a Truth

I have a Big Z Buzzz I will try. I must have a couple wonky Truths. Couple of my buds have Cores and they don't seem as US as my Truths. Hmmmm.

Will Innova do another run of Gazelles in some of the new, killer DX?
Replacing the good, vintage DX (01-08) every 6-9 months is getting more difficult all of the time. |
It would be nice, but I fear they won't. Given the talks about taking OOP. I would assume they are burning through the stock they have. MY local PIAS has had the same two DX gazelles and cheetahs on the shelf for probably a year now. I am tempted to get them just because they have sat there so long.
I just don't really want a yellow, white, or red one. Cheetahs are getting to be the same way color wise. Occasionally you will find a blue around in either. I have found a source for all kinds of nice rare gazelles, but they are asking premium prices. Has anybody thrown the 150 glass gazelles in clear champish plastic? Also would you say a circle stamp is really worth $35 new? I want to say Innova will run those again... |
Never was able to get my money's worth out of the DX Cheetah but when I threw an all vintage (04 back) DX bag for six consecutive months, the Gazelle stood out from the rest. Something about the surface friction of DX and that speed 5-7 range makes for long fliers with little effort. I find my DX gazelles with their incredible forward fade range out to about where a premium speed 8-8.5 would with the same power and line and the smaller rim usually translates to better accuracy for me.
It's a great disc when I'm dead tired from too much play. |
I only have experience with DX and circle stamp Champ Gazelles, how do Star and Gstar compare to them stabilitywise? And how floppy are the Gstar Gazelles?
